Rest in peace, Ray Green
Submitted by randall df223 on Sat, 2012-06-23 22:32Today we lost one of life's true gentleman, Ray Green. For those who fished and stayed at Monkey Mia regularly, I am sure you know Ray well. He always had a smile on his face and time to help anyone in need. Ray was a keen camper and fisherman. He is one of the most loved "oldies" of Monkey Mia. Tonight my thoughts are with Ray's beautiful wife Alma, and all those who are sad at his passing. Wishing you tight lines and fair weather Ray Green. You will always be in the thoughts of those you touched. RIP.

FISHO MAGAZINE
Submitted by Miss fitz on Sat, 2012-06-23 19:45Hey guys! I know it's a long shot but I was wondering if anyone has ever heard or especially has a copy of FISHO MAGAZINE, they would be from a few years back tho, any time before 2004, I would really appreciate it if anyone who has one could send one to me! The company went bankrupt after a few years so I dont have any copies as I was like 6... :/
My dad was the owner of the company and a writer of some columns too- his name was Barry Howlett. Unfortunatly in 2004 he died, when he was around I was too young to appreciate all the fishing knowledge he could pass on to me and now I'm older and a complete fishing nut I wish he could teach me everything he knew!
Sorry for the sob story but I can't stress how desperate I am to get my hands on a copy of his magazine
Any helpfull comments would be greatly appreciated

Ocean potion
Submitted by Miss fitz on Sat, 2012-06-23 17:32I was walking along city beach the other day and I found an almost new lure- Im pretty sure it's an ocean potion stickbait in the blue mackerel colour (16cm) and I was wondering what type of fish would you go for if using this lure? And where would you use it? Obviously in the ocean but would it be more suited to be fished off a boat then the beach?

Squid lure?
Submitted by SamC on Sat, 2012-06-23 09:52I see a lot of peeps around catching squid. I am super keen to get in on the action and was wondering what those funky squid lures are that all you peeps are using!
They look kinda like some sort of prawn fish and have heaps of little hooks on the back.
If anyone could help me out to figure out what these things are that would be fab!
Cheers dudes :P

Fencer wanted
Submitted by makai on Fri, 2012-06-22 18:49Hi guys,
like many others in Perth, we had fence damage in the storms. I need a quote (insurance job) to remove a rear limestone wall and steel gates, and remove a side boundary fence (some super six, some asbestos) damaged in the storms, and replace both rear fence (including 2 x sets double gates) and side boundary fence with colorbond.
I would prefer the job to go to FW member, so if you are in that business or can recommend someone, please PM me your contact details. I am located in Mosman Park.
Cheers, Peter

Hey what's your LOTTO dream
Submitted by crasny1 on Fri, 2012-06-22 18:48After posting about the new Stella combo I was thinking what would be your LOTTO winniing setup. Or it could be the Bucket list.
Lets keep it fairly simple.
1. Bream and light inshore.
2. Beach
3. Light spin.
4. Heavy spin
5. GT Popper
6. Light jig/heavy jig
7. Light troll
8. Marlin slayer
9. Barra buster
10.Last but not least -ultimate Fly combo
When I briefly did this list I realised how diverse this magical past time is. There is endless more p[ossibilities, but this will cover my LOTTO winning list.
I wont even start but Alutecnos all the way for Saltwater OH. Stella's for most sin. Rods OMG.

Match: Samurai Jig10 with Stella SW10000 (or 8000)
Submitted by crasny1 on Fri, 2012-06-22 18:32Yes, Lost the Stella 8000SW overboard. FKN shark suddenly got a life, kicked and the leader ripped through my hands. As quick as a flash - gooone. Few swear words and man tears drowned by amber fluid and I am in for a replacement.
Thinking about a heavy weight combo, not needing a GT popper rod or reel, but after that, as good as it gets.
Thinking StellaSW10000 and Samurai Jig10.
Or for the Stella SW 10000 what is another top rod.. $$ an option, but lets face it, if I am gonna get a Stella its NOT.
Cheers

Beach Fishing
Submitted by Sainter07 on Fri, 2012-06-22 15:59Tasmanian import here, (dont hold that against me) and love this site. I am excited by the prospect of doing some decent beach fishing on these fantastic beaches around Mandurah. I have to invest on a beach rod though. My question is, are the cheap "Big W" rods and reels ok, or should I invest in a better rod and reel. I should point out that I am quite a novice.

gulp sp help
Submitted by fisherking on Fri, 2012-06-22 11:24Now this may be a stupid question, so dont laugh too hard.
I've bought sump 7" Gulps & was wondering which way up I should hook them?
There is a big groove, should the hook come out in the groove, or should it come out opposite the groove??
Thanks.

Fuel Injectors
Submitted by Boppo on Fri, 2012-06-22 11:12After having a cylinder down on one of my Yamaha 115 4-stroke and finally putting it down to a blocked fuel injector I was told by a boat sales and service shop NOR that they are a throw away item and to replace it. $295 for one!! I whipped them out and took them to an injection shop, $40 bucks a pop to get cleaned, picked 'em up the next day and now my boat runs like a dream. In fact since I got all four done I now have heaps more grunt in that starboard motor so I am going to get the port motor done now.
My point is...don't take all advice from boat places as gospel. Do some research yourself and you will save loads of cash.

FCV 585 vs FCV 295
Submitted by FishOn570 on Fri, 2012-06-22 01:31Hey Guys....
i Realise that a fcv 295 will be better than a 585... but just wanna know peoples opinions on both units is the 295 just a bigger screen with same capabilities?
i am looking at a 585 at the moment for my new tub (6.8m Barcrusher) and just wanna see what other people think of these units so i dont make a decision i may regret down the track...

Jigs and SP's at night
Submitted by MattMiller on Thu, 2012-06-21 18:10Hey guys, can't remember if this has been raised before but was just curious about peoples experiences with using jigs or SP's at night. Any success?
A mate of mine raised this with me the other day and I had no idea how it would go. I would think SP's would go OK, dunno about jigs?
Any thoughts appreciated.
