How to convert short GPS coordinates please
Submitted by Wilfish on Sat, 2019-12-21 11:03Hi guys. Forgive me I'm a bit of a novice with GPS coordinates.
I'm trying to put the Recfishwest FAD coordinates into my GPS combo and I must be doing it wrong as they come up well south of where they should be. When I put them in they come up west of Garden Island and I know they're further north of GI.
The Recfishwest coordinates read 32.113S 115.160E. So I'm entering it in my MFD as 32.11.300S 115.16.000. Clearly this is wrong. Can somebody please clarify where I'm going wrong please?
Thanks in advance.

How quickly your luck can change when fishing
Submitted by GCjetski on Thu, 2019-12-19 12:26I had a day out recently targetting squid which was pretty slow, then I found the motherload of Snapper on the way home!
Can someone please PM the barges coordinates
Submitted by Wilfish on Thu, 2019-12-19 08:37G'day fellas. Would someone be so good as to send me the barges coordinates? I've searched high and low and cannot find them anywhere although I'm led to believe they are approx 10km west of Rottnest.
We went out chasing Sambo's at the Rottnest Artificial Reefs Friday week ago. The tides were big (low 0630hr 0.39m and high 2135hr at 1.15m), full moon the day before, and fishing in the middle of the day which I guess doesn't bode well for a successful trip. I have a Simrad NSS12 Evo3 with TM275LHW and couldn't sound out any fish on the artificial reefs so we headed towards the scuttle grounds and tried our luck on a couple of wrecks with no luck in up to 110m.
We jigged with a variety of jigs and still no cigar. I wonder whether the environmental factors above played a major role in why we couldn't find fish on the day and welcome your thoughts. I'm on ex Pilbara lad and have caught plenty of brag worthy fish up there (which isn't hard) but I'm not having a lot of success in Perth despite spending plenty of time (and fuel) looking for decent ground all over the place.
Any suggestions warmly welcomed.

Heading to Waroona after Boxing Day
Submitted by Helen on Wed, 2019-12-18 22:26Hi Peeps. I’m heading to Waroona between Boxing Day & NYE and was wondering if anyone has had much luck fishing around there. We are camping at the dam but not sure if exact fishing spots etc. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated. I’m not a very good land based fishergirl. I like my big stuff too much lol. Thanks.

hi guys
Submitted by Fish13 on Wed, 2019-12-18 17:28 hi guys,
it been a while since i popped on but thought i say g'day
i had a change of boats gone from a 15 ft runnabout to a 12 ft roof top that still does the same speed.
Though with that i am having dramas with eh raymarine dragonfly , i can't get it to keep bottom with cruising at anything over 10kn. Any idea's?
I usualy leave from bunbury and been having a good run with dhu's and snapper coming on board, plus good catches of skippy.
and always looking for someone to tag along to quell the boredom. though i am keen to try for a sambo or a ytk in close.
any way a couple of pics.scontent.fadl6-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/p720x720/79274137_1229606323916049_3336429220866818048_o.jpg

Submitted by slothwan on Wed, 2019-12-18 08:04Hey gang. I've got a few days at Goode Beach in Albany and I'd love any tips on where I could track down a shore based feed.
I've done OK in the past with herring at salmon holes this time of year.
I'd love to track down some shore based squid if possible. Any tips?

Last days of the Ban - Great fun
Submitted by JohnF on Sun, 2019-12-15 14:12Me and Scano took my young bloke and a few of his mates for a jig, KG fish and pull the cray pots. Perfect day on the water.
Scano hooked up on his beach rod.......

Many hooked, not many landed. One for the skipper.

After the boys all got some serious railings by some XOS models, we headed for a KG fish. Got a dozen of these in quick time, several well over 50 cm.

Finished with 15 crays in the pots on way home.

Beach Fishing Attacked by Dog
Submitted by Superfish on Sun, 2019-12-15 14:08I was fishing at North Foreat - Hale Rd area on Saturday morning minding my own business and from out of nowhere i got hit at speed in the knee by a pit bull looking dog. There were people and dozen of dogs all over the beach. I yelled in sharp pain to my inside knee and i am very concened that i may have ligiment damage xrays ultrsound and off work. The owner of the dog said nothing, no appoligie and after a quick mouthfull of expletives fom me he quickly ran away with his three dogs. Not one person on the beach and there where dozens arround came to ask if i was ok?
I was left in shocked that this out of control unlieshed dog has caused me a great deal of pain. I dont how much damage has been done to my knee? Have we gone to far letting the dogs and ther owners take over our beaches. I love all animals and its great to seem swim and have fun but is it safe anymore? I wil never go to that beach or any other in Perth to go beach fishing again. Scabourough to Brighton beach is now owned by the surfers. Brighton to Floreat by the dogs and there owners. Only leaves City Beach South to Swanbourne before you hit onother dog beach.

Fires
Submitted by Dale on Sat, 2019-12-14 18:37Hoping Fishwrecked members up the north end of town are safe from these fires, doesn’t seem to be a let up and have to acknowledge the great job our firies are doing. Did see some assistance is coming in the shape of a 737 retardant bomber from NSW on its way across to WA this evening. Every bit helps.

EVAPAK
Submitted by aussiejoe on Thu, 2019-12-12 22:52After four or so years of good service my EVAPAK is not sending a seal signal to the sealer after drawing a strong vacuum.
I have upgraded to a commercial unit and am happy to pass this unit on to someone with the skills to repair it or perhaps use it for parts for their unit.
Free to a good home. SOR PM me if interested.

Swan river crabs
Submitted by squalis on Wed, 2019-12-11 13:19With the crab season opened for a few days ,any news re recent catches or lack of. Still a bit early and many crabs are soft shells and still hardening up. Readers should be aware that Fisheries have reduced the take to 5 a day per person in the swan river. This has been done by slight of hand with no publicity that i am aware of . I was in Diamond net works O Conner stocking up with gear and the boys passed on this info. Take care and dont get caught out, ignorance is no defence. No doubt fisheries will be trying to catch as many as possible.

FISHERIES great driving skills
Submitted by little johnny on Tue, 2019-12-10 11:16On water incident happened approx 740 am. Pulled 1 pot took 3 crays out drove to find location fisheries heading towards me took boat out of gear started to drift. So he decided I will go port to port as he is trying to look at my boat from other side of his boat .crack hit my boat pushed back end under. No dought there cameras will show this. My exact words where wtf great. Immediately he blamed me. Very abruptly. Why the fuck wouldn’t they approach from starboard side where he could see ? And with drift. sometimes I wonder. I have reported issue ,more than 3 hrs later still heard nothing at all. I have broken back bollard 7 new stress cracks and big chip Also has cracked goo that holds rubber on . After he put in reverse to get off my boat 2 other fisheries officers ran to back of his boat so he didn’t hit my front. Keep in mind this is all my fault. No dought there cameras will show this.

Just wondering if anyone has some up to date information on the track into Steep Point? Heading up on Friday night for a week, staying at Shelter Bay. First time for me, others in the group have been a few times. Towing a 4.2m tinny in, just doing the bearings and trailer check today. Really looking forward to the chance to get some fish!
Thanks
