Mark La Cras Fishing Reports
Submitted by stumpie on Sat, 2017-12-09 05:30I caught the tail end of Mark's fishing reports on channel 9... he mentioned sand whiting at City Beach. Does anyone know more specifics on the whereabouts at City Beach to find them? If there's a marker to head for?
Thanks guys.

Cost of boating in Western Australia
Submitted by dawsy on Thu, 2017-12-07 17:55Just received my tinny rego for the year at $120.
For 6 trips a year in a tiny boat, thats $20 an outing just for the tinny 'rego' excluding the other myriad of costs like trailer licencing and maintenance.
Getting rid of the tinny would go a long way to a nice overseas holiday. Little incentive for thriving business in this state.
I have had many people from eastern states mind boggled at the cost of boating here. Apparently NSW boat ramps are owned by the state, not by greedy councils looking to flog waterside real estate for development.
Casual fishing has been deterred in this state. Meanwhile New Zealand...
Thats like $50 to put your kids in a dingy for a spin for an hour. Elvis has left the building.

Maylands boat ramp
Submitted by maldugs on Thu, 2017-12-07 12:19Maylands boat ramp is handy for me to launch from, however as you come in to dock your boat, there are only two cleats on the pontoon, to tie your boat to, and no uprights to grab hold of which makes it hard if the wind is blowing away from the ramp, which makes it hard sometimes, also I see a lot of skipper ticket boats operating from there, can you get your skippers ticket only on the river? What happens when the new skipper goes out into the ocean? When I did mine it was always out from Hillarys or Ocean reef..just wondering.

How to catch skippy
Submitted by Alex15733 on Wed, 2017-12-06 20:03Hi All, Thinking to do some skippy fishing as most other fishing isnt working for me...
Ive never caught a skippy before but seen people get them off the rocks at south mole, ive done some research and seen people mostly use a patersnoster with snelled 2/0 hooks? Am i right?
The thing that troubles me is i seem to alway get snagged going off the rocks with sinkers is there a way to avoid this?
Id like to know what rigs you all use for skippy and bait to get my first one and some general tips!
All info appreciated, Thanks Alex!

180 Trendsetter Pacemaker
Submitted by timboon on Mon, 2017-12-04 15:23Crew,
On behalf of a mate of mine.....
He's found a Pacemaker of the above make/model.....
I'm not familiar with these boats but i know they generally get spoken well about on here by those that have had them or been on them in the past....
What sort of coin would you expect to pay for an average condition hull, 115 merc two banger around the 2000 vintage, lowish hours that apparently runs well, as far as i know it needs a sounder and gps.
Trailer buggered and i think would most likely be a replacement for my buddy straight off the bat should he buy it....
Your help as always will be appreciated.....

fisheries cray quandry
Submitted by D_d_001 on Sat, 2017-12-02 12:45OR maybe just me.
Came in after checking the pots recently to have a fisheries officer check us at the ramp (every eski opened, every storage compartment on the boat opened and rifled through, went through the cuddy. on the boat for ages ....we just wanted to get going)
We only had 15 or so crays with 3 licences on board and she insisted on seeing 3 licences. (which I thought strange cos we only had 2ppl bag.
She asked how many pots the crays came out of and we told her we "share". She then went on to lecture us about pot sharing and was adamant that only two can share.
Tell me if I'm wrong.
I thought : I have 2 pots friend A has his gear ID with my gear ID on one. Friend B has his gear ID with My gear ID on the other. So I have 2 pots and 2 friends have 1 pot each.
Fisheries officer was adamant I can Not do this and can only share with only 1 other person.
IE. both have gear ID between only 2 people and the third cant share even though no one has gear ID on more than 2 pots.
hope I've explained this right. any comments welcomed

Any potential issues with the 200 series Landcruiser?
Submitted by RohanKok on Sat, 2017-12-02 09:37Hi all,
My friend is looking into buying a good second hand 200 series landcruiser. I thought it might be a good idea to ask the group on the site if anyone know about / have had any issues with them? I have read about the chasis cracking issue which seems to be the biggest worry, but not sure if this is limited to the early models, or if they all potentially have this isse?
Appreciate any advice.
Cheers,
Rohan.
