custom fishing shirts
Submitted by black gen on Sun, 2013-02-24 21:29have had a search through old posts and only found one thread on this topic, the websites on the thread werent helpful as they were super expensive...
basically im wanting to get some shirts made up, was hoping long sleeve vented fishing shirts with printing on back front etc.
basic logo printing not an ambitions design.
surely some of you boys have had shirts made before for all the events and trips that are undertaken each year
wanting to know who you went through and roughly the cost per shirt.
got some made locally last year but were only long sleeve polos and werent the vented type...
any help would be sweet
thanks
Jess

not much on the bite offshore today??
Submitted by grayzeee on Sun, 2013-02-24 21:03I'm keen to know people's opinions on why they think today might have been difficult fishing.
I'm keeping a history of past trips out and am getting some data together.
It seemed like a good day today looking at the numbers.
Black day in almanac, we fished during 2 tide changes co-inciding with moon below bite times. southerly wind at 15-20.
We could see good fish returns , and hold and fish over them.
Very difficult day though with nothing but a baldie to show for it amongst a few shit fish.
The three things I question are
2 days before full has not worked in the past.
Steady trend in air pressure
Fished the 2 mid tide changes between High and low proper.
Any idea's?

Exmouth help!
Submitted by timwalden on Sun, 2013-02-24 19:46Hi all,
My trip from the UK to Exxy is getting ever closer, and i accidentally seem to have purchased way more gear than i can fit into my luggage allowance!
My question is, does anyone know of a way i could post a suitcase of tackle ahead of me and pay to have it held ready for my arrival, then post it back?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!!

Quick Fish
Submitted by Brock O on Sun, 2013-02-24 14:50
With the almanac looking GOOD it was decided to do a quick trip to the five for a early morning anchore and burley, with my first Abrohlos trip in four weeks with a few other members i new this would be the last chance to get out.
The BP sausage roll at 430 didnt go down to well with the 2.5m swell, at least i recon as you can see by the first photo, 3 years with the boat and the first time i have came close to sick even with many a time spent on anchore. Apologies for the photo's, i blame the swell. Set up of the burley cage and down with the first scallie, It was taken before hitting the bottom, to my surprise a healthy little dhue was hungrey and swam off strong, with 6am and the sun appearing Jeffs rod started screaming, some quick gaff work by myself seen the boats first shallow water pinky hitting the deck, 72cm and just over 3kg, gezz they fight hard!! quick cube some more mulies and down with some fresh baits, my rod went next with a good hock up and solid fight all the way to the boat.....well lets say 3m from the boat before jumping of!!F^%k, was a way bigger fish!! yes im a fisho so was way bigger than the first
. This i believe spooked what ever may have been around after that as the action slowed down, couple of bust off on the grey coats after that!! last bait down found a solid fight to start with before giving up! to surprise again a Morwong of some sort i believe?? he went back and we retuned to the ramp by 8am. Have spent many an early morning beating sunrise for no success, lots of bust off but this the first good pinky, not mine but a PB for the boat!

Jigging Noobie
Submitted by Browndog on Sun, 2013-02-24 11:30Hi all.
Managed to score a new Eupro Tango Jig TGJ-S562MH rod and Penn Spinfisher 650SSM reel for my birthday. Will use it for bottom bouncing the five fathom bank etc, but also keen to give the jigging a crack. Any suggestions/pointers for my first try? Be good to hook up on something with a bit of weight instead of the usual catch of KG's, flathead, skippy etc.
Also scored a heap of vouchers from a big chain store, so will look to stock up on braid (was thinking 30lb?) and jigs etc. Almost a shame cause I was planning on making the trek down to Oceanside. Still, there's always next time!
Cheers,
BD.

For the bream crew
Submitted by catchalittle on Sat, 2013-02-23 18:40Had a tip that there were plenty of herring down at the old fremantle traffic bridge so thought I would head down there and catch a few for the freezer, well didnt catch any herring but there are certainly plenty of large bream down there, every cast resulted in a large bream that would pull a bit of line off the 2500 certate. The other encounter was the two white pointers that came past on one of the charter boats about 5'10 blond and legs that reached for the sky and wearing nothing but a g string and serving drinks the boat came past twice which made in hard to concentrate on the fishing at hand got a couple of happy snaps but better not post up because of the minors that visit this site

Good night out.
Submitted by MightyBoy on Fri, 2013-02-22 18:34Thought I'd just share my experience of a recent fishing trip. I was lucky enough to have a week back in Qld over christmas which gave me the opportunity to catch some more tropical fish. One nice night we planned on heading out to one lump that has a fishing zone of about 50 m and is 10 Nm from anything else. Well known spot but always seems to be holding some fish.
We got out there to find another boat already on the stop, which was not uncommon considering the area. Once we got close enough we had a sound around and pulled up next to the other boat. We both hung around out there for a few hours, swapping stories sharing some bait and even boating a few nice fish (sharks aside).
All in all it was a good night, was able to go out chat to some fellow fishers and catch a few fish. Only thing that could have made it better was a glass out.
Now I haven't been in Perth for long, but hopefully I can have some similar experiences here while leaving all the stress and tension of work behind.
All in all, it is a hobby and not a competition against every other boat out there.

Submitted by dalaisc on Fri, 2013-02-22 16:13Good Afternoon Peeps
I have the above mentioned unit. Heading down to Peaceful bay in a couple of weeks and the maps on the unit do not cover Peaceful Bay.
As I will probably not head down that way again for a very long time I was wondering if anyone would be willing to loan me a Chart Card for a week.
I will owe you

Tow vehicle
Submitted by joycey on Fri, 2013-02-22 11:34Hi guys
After a bit of advice.
Can you recommend tow vehicle for a 5.8m boat, total tow weight approx 1.8 - 2 tonnes?
I know the big 4WD's are the best for towing, but wondering other options that cost less and more fuel economical/better for normal day to day driving.
PS Ute's not option.
Cheers!

For those who have a dog
Submitted by br3nno on Fri, 2013-02-22 00:03I just came to the obvious realisation that i should keep the poor tasting fishing and just feed them to my dog, such as wrasse or garfish. Its great for the dog they love the taste and you will save hundreds of $ depending on the size of your dog. I would catch atleast 5-10 wrasse every trip which i just throw back.

Submitted by chookc on Thu, 2013-02-21 23:10Was a great day on the water today. Didn't want to come back in.. But what a difference coming home in glassed off conditions makes.. 33knots all the way in as opposed to the usuall 10-15.
Got a nice 5.5 kg pinkie and black ass. And plenty of non keepers... Plagued by bolt cutters today. And also sharks..
