Took father in law out for a fish last week for his first jigs only day,

Caught 7 species for the day all on jigs / old boy used plastics with this trout being a nice surprise and my first in local waters.

Also had a visit from a GW that followed a duey all the way to the boat, scarey when you here of these dudes jumping in to retrieve a fish.

Species caught - Trout, Duefish, snapper, samson, yellowtail king, black ass , balchin all released except the two in photos.

 Whilst my uncle was out fishing yesterday he found a boat seat and what looks like a lid to a ice box or compartment of some sort. I have photos of them but don't want to post them for a obvious reasons. If you have lost them though PM me with the description. 

They were found about 20nm out past the warnboro / Cockburn sound.

well unfortunatley my olfd rod has come to its end (broken) so now im stuck between the perflueger trion and the shimano mexican fire raider just for lures for fish like bream whiting and flathead so what do you guys recomend? has anyone had any of the rods before?

 Crabs have been vey slow. And over the last couple of seasons have been getting hammered with more and more people realising they can get big boys in the river. Do you think there should be a ban put in place for a season or two to let them recover before it gets to delapitated. As usual everyone reacts to late and the damage has been done. We used to do 2 pulls and have our20. And quite often we would have double bangers haven't had one for years  just a thought to see what everyone else thinks. Cheers.

Been to South Beach groyne 5 or six times, morning, afternoon, dusk with prawns, squid, mulies, soft plastics, burley, hardbodies and never caught jack.  Is the place cursed or is it me?

 Went to buy some prawns and scallops today to celebrate my bday and stupidly paid $37 a kilo for some carnarvan king prawns. Seriously WTF!!!!

Im trying to go onto my same drift when i get to a spot but not sure on how to position the boat to get my same drift- I tend to drift way off my mark and never get it right.  found this tip and thought it could help some ppl out, 

 fish the gutters for mulloway, the same for tailor fishing aswell

maybe a mack troll or berly session outside the 3 mile

 great customer service and knowledge!, just a shame its so far from me lol. was worth the trip to get respooled with some quality braid. thanks again

Was wondering if anyone knew where to source fishing attire for us larger more flotatious fisho's. I'd love to get something like the columbia bonehead or similer (saw a blue shirt in bcf I liked the feel of, light weight/vented etc) but am having a very very hard time of it. Am looking for i guess 5xl in shirt (50inch neck) and a 6xl in pants/shorts so I can hit the beach during the day and not fry as I get burnt even under a full moon.

If anyone's happened to see any or knows of a website that can acoomodate please let me know. Am looking at US sites but its kinda daunting and confusing trying to cross match sizings etc.

 Guys looking at a sub 5m cuddy cabin, fiberglass trailerboat. Something 10 years old or newer, what can people reccomend, or those who have them what do you have.

Are there any to stay away from, and what problems do they have.

 went for a bait run this morning chasing scalies and wasnt dissapointed as usuall, except for all the shyte laying around! i could not believe how much rubbish was on the jetty, from broken beer bottles to fishing line, busted up chairs you name it, it was there!

i was about to packup and head home when i saw a senior citizen rockup with large garbage bags and a claw, had a brief chat to her, she does this 3 times a week and most of the time fills the 3 bags every time, and there not little!, she was saying how this is my beach and its just getting worse and whishes the jetty was never there, and after seeing the state of the jetty i was wishing the same!

 Some other site members may remember the shacks on Whitford beach. My grandfather had one at the southern end near what is now called pinnaroo point. He & his mates fished out from there from just after the second world war until the shacks were removed - around 1975 I think. They caught many varieties of fish but their main target was dhuies. They had an honour board in the boat shed on which they drew the outline of their best catches & added the weight, date caught & name of the fisherman. Only the best fish made it onto the honour board & looking back I'm a bit surprised that their biggest dhuie was only 35 lb & from memory there weren't many over 25 lb. Now I hav'nt caught a 35 lb dhufish but these guys were fishing virgin water. I would have thought there would have been a couple of monsters amongs them. Of course they didnt have echo sounders & GPS (they used a cord line with bolts tied to the end & tapped the bottom to check the hardness) but they had their land marks off rotnest & they caught alot of dhuies. So I'm interested in the contrast with today. Most of mine are around 6 - 7 KG & my biggest is 11 KG. What is the case for you?

Bit of a newbie to all this
Was out yesterday, good fun and managed a dhuie
Unfortunately mate on board got spiked by a scorpion fish, we weren't aware it was harmful. Looked nasty so we unhooked overside but he still got spiked !

I'd be grateful for future reference for info on the main critters that I may come across in the metro area that are potentially harmful and how to handle them and what to do if get hit.
