YTK challenge
Submitted by Simon C on Mon, 2007-06-11 07:22To any interested and like minded fisho out there. I have chosen this winter to try and target Yellowtail kings as my main species. i know that they are out back of Rotto in pretty good numbers, but I am sure that they must frequent our closer reefs as well. If anyone has any info that would help me get started, or is interested in joining me on this quest please let me know. I mainly fish mid week and am happy to pay for fuel or supply my own boat or rotate. I have only caught a couple of Kings so far last year and thought they were awesome sport on light gear, so I can only imagine the damage a really big one would do. Anyone who can point me in the right direction would be a legend.

Congratulations Dalmatinac - Champion Angler SOR comp 2007
Submitted by Andy Mac on Sun, 2007-06-10 09:11On behalf of Fishwrecked, the organising comittee and all those participating, a big "WELL DONE" to Rob (Dalmatinac) for a great haul of multi species earning him the Champion Angler trophy and carrying a points lead into the next round of the comp.
It was fantastic to see a couple of thumping dhuies caught on the day and all the frames go to the onite research table set up by Ian Keay. (Thanks Ian again for your support and hopefully a few more anglers are now recruited into the frame donation scheme.)
I think it was pretty apparent that everyone had fun, stayed safe and met up with a few more like minded fisho's, which was the whole objective of the day.
Of course a huge vote of thanks goes out to our sponsors on the day, their generosity and support for the event made it all the more enjoyable.
Hopefully the weather gods will smile on us again next week so we can get the NOR hosted event up and running with a similar prize pool allocation. Please start registering now so we can see who will be in the line up. A separate thread will be posted where you can do this shortly.
Personally I would like to thank Tim for all his efforts in getting things together for the day, much appreciated guys.

Just wondering what would be the most comprehensive compact book (for the tackle box) on the market for the identification of fish specie(s), location(s), edibility and anything else.
Thanks

Reminder - Fishwrecked North v South Competition - Saturday 9th June - Point Peron Boat Ramp - 6.30am
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Thu, 2007-06-07 11:27A reminder that the Fishwrecked North of the River (NOR) vs South of River (SOR) fishing competition is on this Saturday, 9th of June, Point Peron Boat Ramp at 6.30am with a return time of 3pm for the weigh in.
This is an enter at your own risk fishing comp and each skipper is responsible for their own crew on the day. Where you decide to fish and in what conditions is totally up to the individual. Fishwrecked nor any of the organisers accept any responsibity for your actions out there, so please be safe and take all necessary precautions to ensure a great day on the water is had by all. It would be wise to log in with the local sea rescue radio post and log off when you return to the ramp.

NOR v SOR photo comp entries
Submitted by Andy Mac on Wed, 2007-06-06 22:47Guys please ensure you all take heaps of photo's from the day. Adam has set up a special gallery where all the photo's from the day should be loaded up to. When you go to create image you will see the gallery at the top in the drop down box. That way it will make judging the photo comp a lot easier and also allow us all to share in the memories of what hopefully will be a great day.
Good luck and start taking pics from the moment you get to the ramp. There are bound to be a few happy snaps minus the fish that might be worth a look that early in the morning.

Starting a boat with dead batteries
Submitted by Stiff Ripples on Wed, 2007-06-06 21:32Was interested to know if the batteries are dead flat on the boat are you still able to pull start the engine (mines a 90hp)?
I've heard you can also overide the automatic timing on the engine aswell so that it idles faster avoiding the engine stalling in the case of an emergency.
True?

Fishwrecked Beanies Available at the SOR comp!!!!!
Submitted by Andy Mac on Tue, 2007-06-05 22:19I will have a selection of fishwrecked beanies available at the launching ramp on Saturday for those wishing to purchase one. $15 each ($5 postage applies if you want one mailed to you and you can't make the comp.
Also please note that we have made an adjustment on the qualification criteria with the photo competition during the comp. The best photo taken with a "fishwrecked beanie on" during the comp will win a share of the $100 prize. Depending on how many entries there are we may hold part of the prize over for a month or so for other beanie wearers to get into the act as well. So watch this space for more news on the beanie pic comp.

Who uses artificial baits for bottom bashing?
Submitted by jimbo1 on Mon, 2007-06-04 21:13Just wondering who uses artificial baits for bottom bashing for instance Berkley power grubs or the rubber squids. Or do you prefer to just use bait on its own? Just that I have noticed a few pics lately where people have used them! Do they realy make that much difference to your catch rate.

Midnight joke
Submitted by dogsoldier on Sun, 2007-06-03 00:29A motorcycle officer stops a man for running a red light. The guy is a real jerk and comes running back to the motor officer. The violator demands
to know why he is being harassed by the Gestapo! So the officer calmly tells
him of the red light violation. The "Motorist" instantly goes on a tirade,
questioning the officer's ancestry, sexual orientation, etc., in rather
explicit terms. The officer, being a professional, takes it all in stride,
figuring "battleship mouth and rowboat ass".
The tirade goes on without the cop saying anything. When he gets done
with writing the citation he puts an "AH" in the lower right corner of the
narrative portion of the citation. He then hands it to the "Violator"
for his signature.
The guy signs the cite angrily, tearing the paper, and when presented
his copy points to the "AH" and demands to know what it stands for.
The officer then removes his mirrored sunglasses, gets in the middle of the guy's
face and said, "That's so when we go to court, I'll remember you're an asshole!"
Three months later they are in court. The "Violator" has such a bad record
he is about to lose his license and has hired an attorney to represent him.
On the stand the officer testifies to seeing the man run the red light.
Under cross-examination, the defense attorney asks, "Officer, is this a
reasonable facsimile of the citation you issued my client?"
Officer responds, "Yes sir, this is the defendant's copy, his signature
and mine, same number at the top."
Attorney: "Officer, is there any particular marking or notation on this
citation you don't normally make?"
Officer: "Yes sir, in the lower right corner of the narrative there is
an AH', underlined."
Attorney: "What does the AH stand for, officer?"
Officer? "Aggressive and Hostile, Sir."
Attorney: "Aggressive and hostile?"
Officer: "Yes, Sir?"
Attorney: "Officer, are you sure it doesn't stand for Asshole?"
Officer: "Well, Sir, you know your client better than I do!"
