He has done it again...I always get to hold the steering wheel while he grabs the rod....
Submitted by Tank on Wed, 2016-04-20 09:46For some one that says he does not like rod fishing he is pretty quick to grab a rod with line peeling off...good on him....it is good to go fishing.
These are from our recent Exmouth trip fishing between the mian land and South Murion.

Pilbara catches
Submitted by Pirate Pete on Sat, 2016-01-02 16:48DSo long story short, moved from Portland VIC to Tom Price in 2009 nice little place but a bit isolated and too far from the water!. Moved back to Portland for 18 months but hated FIFO with the young family so discussed our options and had always said if we move back to WA it will be by the coast. Landed a job in Wickham WA so away we went again. Was stoked to be back by the water again be able to get amongst the fishing. Was land based only for the first 12 months till I bought a boat. Had a blast fishing the local creeks off the banks and landed quite a few nice fish Barra, jacks and salmon all the while slowly figuring out the times tides and techniques for the area which were quite different to what I was used to. Also figured out the rocks were quite slippery on low tides after a couple of quick trips to the hospital to get patched up! Oysters are sharp little buggers. Still love fishing land based as its only a quick trip down the road to get amongst it and don't have worry about launching the boat, clean up and all that goes with it. Was stoked to get the boat though and be able to head out into the blue water and have been getting amongst it for the last 12 months whilst doing up the boat to suit my needs. It's an old Haines V17l not the flashiest bit of gear on the water up here but rides nice and gets the job done. So far have done a bit of trolling and bottom bashing around the place trying to find some good spots (still got a lot to learn) but it's not too often we go home without a feed or catching some nice fish. The best part is being from vic if each time I catch a different species it's normally a first of that Kind for me which is exciting Spanish macks, Gt's, reds, cobia. All in all just love this place! Bloody hot a lot of the time but such a great place to fish and live. Cheers guys, here's a bunch of pics of the journey from the last 18 months

Last weekends fishing comp
Submitted by Tank on Wed, 2015-10-14 19:12Reading in the local rag looks like the fishing comp held last weekend out of Dampier was a success. Did anyone enter...what about the spear comp on as well anyone give it a crack?

They are a bit slow up around here in the NT
Submitted by Brucesta on Wed, 2015-09-16 07:17I think it's cool that the local rag has a fishing section on thier web page but i found this a bit strange. i've nailed heaps of Damps even without flys or lures and seen the fights in the water too. oh well it could be an option to chase for some fun up here.

It's been a blast and of course i will still lurk on here and hopefully convert these marlin pics to barra pics in time if i can shift my boat.

Bucaneer 2015
Submitted by Vinesh87 on Wed, 2015-08-05 18:47Another awesome Bucaneer Archipelgo trip done, and what a trip!
Went much further this year 800+kms. All the way to the Sale and Glenelg river. With stopovers in silvergull,3 ways, ruby falls, kinfisher and sleeping in the Montogery reef for a night with all the sharks rushing over the reef to get in to the hole. What a sight. A quick swim in the whole to see schools of 60cm plus jacks, trout and everything you can imagine.
From charging Hammerheads, tigers, crocs to 100kg+ unstoppable gropers, fresh water barra, salt water barra and all the usual jacks, trout, fingermark, queenies etc etc. No record fish caught but plenty even though the fishing was hard in 12knot + tides.
Enjoy the pictures(more to come)

Warroora trip
Submitted by captain zac on Wed, 2015-04-22 07:18Hi guys, new on the forum so this is my first post.
I'm planning a trip up to Warroora with a few mates at the end of May, none of us have been before so I'm looking for some info on what we can expect.
I'm always keen on catching a few squid but haven't heard of there are squid and octopus up there. A few of us are also keen divers but haven't heard of there are crays up there?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks very much!

Invasive catfish?
Submitted by Andrew.Eames on Mon, 2015-03-30 23:30Been catching a lot of eel tailed catfish through Cossack, Sams creek and Johns creek. I don't remember ever seeing them or hearing about them existing there before. Are they moving in from elsewhere or have I just been lucky enough not to hook one up until recently? Have (unfortuneley) caught hundreds of "normal" catfish but in recent months there has seemed to be 6 eel tail for every normal fella, surely I'm not the only one that's noticed?

Best Time of Year For Mackerel
Submitted by petew on Sun, 2015-02-01 08:44Hi All,
I'm interested to get a feel for when people think the best time of year for Spanish in the Pilbara is?
I use to live in Wickham a long time ago and my father and I spent plenty of time diving the area in the late 70's and early 80's, I was too young to notice things then!
Word was back then that when the prawning season finished, often the boats would switch to mackerel fishing for a month or so....Estimate of when that was seem to indicate August to October?
While I think this correlates with "the windy season" I think, what are peoples thoughts on when the Spanish are around?

Monties October 2013 ***lots of big photos***
Submitted by eug87 on Sat, 2014-05-03 02:46I've been meaning to put some photo's up for months now so finally got off my ass and put a few of the better ones together. We had hundreds of photo's from a couple of us but had to cut them down and these were just a couple of the best ones.
It was an epic week living aboard the Mahi Mahi 3, with four of us from Tom Price and three from Karratha, a huge thanks to Lance for organising it all as we all know it can get very difficult sometimes to get a bunch of guys together and commit to a trip like this. Although I'm not sure why as it is hands down the best thing you can do!
As a few of you would know Bernie was an easy choice to go over there with and the deckies were exceptional, between general deck duties to cooking amazing food all day it made it a pleasure to live aboard! Not to mention getting dropped on top of fish consistently. Anywhere from nudging up to reef in the Mahi Mahi and casting poppers (although the wind was horrid Bernie wasn't shy, treating it like a tender!) to deep dropping up to 300m's and pulling up monsters.
The fishing was as varied as the ground we were covering, even on the one day we were confined to the islands as the weather dictated it was still amazing, cruising around checking out some of the stuff on shore then free diving for some of us and taking the tender out for the others, there was plenty to do and great to break up the week.
Although the seas were a little average nobody was incapacitated with any sea sickness although there were plenty of rough heads on a lot of the mornings! The boat handled the weather with aplomb and a lot of very enjoyable fishing was had. We even made the most of anchoring at night and played with squid jigs for a lot of drunken hours of fun and much to the deckies pleasure not to much ink to be found in the morning!
At the end of the week we all walked away with our bag limit of fillets, a lot of awesome memories and stories that aren't to tall with photo's to back them up!
Hopefully these photo's work and there are not to many, This link below is to a few more of the pics because I didn't want to put to many up!
http://s64.photobucket.com/user/Eug187/library/Monties%202013
P.S I know Bruce (Brucesta I think) is on here and if you find this post feel free to put some more pics up. I may also put some more photo's up if you want more...
