NANGA STATION
Submitted by OLD BANGA on Sun, 2012-08-26 11:08I am thinking of booking into Nanga Staion for a fortnight to do a bit of fishing and R & R, any of you guys done any serious fishing off Nanga and have any good advice? I will be taking my 17' stacer, I am aware that the beach fishing is reasonable and that you cannot keep any pink snapper, but any other info would be appreciated.
Cheers

Footy Forum
Submitted by sarcasm0 on Sun, 2012-08-26 10:02Adam,
Is there any chance of having a new forum started up for Football threads? I have no problem with them being on a Fishing website, but there are 4 in the new forum topics and 6 showing under the latest content tab at the moment. Some of the threads receive a heap of comments and many get put under the fishing discussion thread.
Maybe they could have their own place?

Number Plate 4x4FISH
Submitted by kingdeckie on Sat, 2012-08-25 10:20If anyone knows the owner of the dark green landcruiser with the number plate 4x4 Fish, might be worthwhile tapping them on the shoulder and getting them to do the right thing with regards to hitting my mates car in car park...... Not the right thing, to hit a car, get out, inspect damage, laugh and then drive off........
Before anything is said about proof I reckon photos of incident unfolding and independant eye witness should be enough.

Starting search for new boat
Submitted by Xtreme Coolers on Wed, 2012-08-22 14:09Hi all.
I am starting my search for a secondhand boat i can use with the two boys aged 7 and 10. Mostly keen to river and sound with a few trips up and down the cast in pretected waters. The boys love their fishing in the river, sqidding, crabbing and light line fishing and both are still developing sea legs. I drive a Honda CRV which is a 4 cylinder engine and all wheel drive. I am interested to hear what your suggestions might be. There are a lot of older boats around that i would think cost me money compared to a tinny and reliable engine. I am resonably handy on the tools and are not affraid of doing some work on a boat over time. Looking at purchasing early December.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am looking at spending about $4000-$5000 What should i expect to get?
Many thanks.
Regards
Xtreme Dave

Butane bbq question
Submitted by r.gates on Tue, 2012-08-21 21:08Hi all
I'm in the early planning stage for a possible Kimberley boat trip next year and have been tossing around the idea of taking a 2 burner butane bbq. I see the U-Bute brand 2 burner unit is heavily discounted right now (from their website).
My biggest worry is the ever present petrol fumes from what's in the boat's fuel tank, as well as the numerous jerry cans that we'll have to carry onboard.
I'm thinking the baitboard would make a good cooking platform for the bbq, and was wondering if any of you guys have any thoughts on whether this type of bbq (or any other gas fuelled unit) would be ok on the boat or are we inviting trouble, having a naked flame in close proximity to potential fuel fumes.
I realise that you'd want to move the jerries up the front while cooking, but am I worrying too much over nothing.
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
regards

Woohoo
Submitted by sea-kem on Tue, 2012-08-21 17:38Some things can really make your day. Got a phone call at around 9 this morning from the Pepsi girls that they would be delivering 60 cans of the new Pepsi Kick to the workshop. They turned up in heavy coats because of the weather but the disappointment soon faded when they came off for the photo op. Still trying to wipe the smile off.

Lowrance Sonic hub
Submitted by Zac C on Tue, 2012-08-21 12:06Looking at putting a stereo in the boat tossing up between linking up a sonic hub to my HDS7 or just running a standard fusion ipod dock. Just wondering those that use the sonic hub how they find navigating through the menus being I don't have the soft/quick keys on the HDS7.

Not fishing ( Tool trolley bling )
Submitted by grantarctic1 on Sun, 2012-08-19 17:39Hi crew, with my boat upside down for the second time i got frustrated with looking for my tools all the time. With a few workers now, I never have a bench of my own to hold my tools etc.
I got the boys to knock up a frame for me on Friday, then got cracking on it today to finish it off.
Painted with all the pannels and drawers put in .
I still thought i need some more space, so i went and got a tool box for the top, I'm pretty happy with the end product and now i won't be walking around trying to find my tools .
No excuses now, Time to finish the boat restoration.
Cheers Grant.

Metro Sea Rescue back in action
Submitted by Iceman on Fri, 2012-08-17 19:50Finally recieved a letter from Mr Buswell this afternoon confirming the Government will continue to meet its insurance obligation to the 3 metro groups Whitfords, Fremantle & Cockburn. We still have to source our own insurance which the government will pay for but it may take a few week to get in place due to the complexity of the cover we need.
So we are back on patrol and able to assist you when you breakdown.
another win for the little guy. Will be on the boats this weekend so come over a say hello.

Southwind
Submitted by meatgroup on Thu, 2012-08-16 14:26Sounds like there are a few Southwind fans on here. We have searched far and wide for the molds for these epic boats but they seem to have fallen off the end of the earth. We have designed and built the boat below.. Quality has been the primary concern in having boats built offshore but after several visits we finally have ourselves Australian engineering compliant Southwind-esque vessel in Australia.
Like the southwind they rely on a longboat syle, delta pad design. They are just shy of 7m long, 2.15m wide and we did on water testing with an 85hp two stroke. Got a comfortable 28knts at WOT. They are engineered to handle a 115hp so thats what will be going on this one. Ride well and very economical.
Would love to hear your thoughts...

Trailer Brakes
Submitted by Ericl on Thu, 2012-08-16 09:11I have a US trailer that has come in with Poly Tubing for the hydraulic brakes.
Does anyone know what the situation is in WA regarding the legality ( or otherwise) of using poly tubing instead of copper ?
