Flooring options
Submitted by Bodie on Wed, 2015-03-25 15:26Chasing a little bit of fishwrecked user experience on Laminated flooring.
We are currently doing a full home reno and onto the floors, but im chasing some feedback on Matte and Semi gloss laminates.
Some reviews you read say semi-gloss scratches and harder to keep clean, but the matte style doesn't show the scratches or dirt as much.
Anyone had any of this experience and could provide some feedback? Would you put gloss down again if you already have it? Or any flooring people here who see it day in day out?
We have 2 dogs and a kid on the way which I guess could cause further damage. Dogs are not overly active inside but do come inside most days.
Cheers
Bodie

How's this...
Submitted by Dale on Wed, 2015-03-25 15:16I heard a story while up at Hope Downs 4 yesterday where they done a heap of redundancies last week. There was one fella who started with his new position with Rio in the morning and got a redundancy in the afternoon. Picked up the basic redundancy package of 50k, not bad for a day's work.

Genesis Restoration *** All Done
Submitted by scere_182 on Tue, 2015-03-24 15:23Hi guys seeing as it seems to be the in thing at the moment... just chucking up some progress pics of my boat restoration im taking on atm. Boat is a Genesis Craft 600 Sports I’ve owned for quite a while now. Here it is when it was first purchased some time ago. Years of wear and tear have proceeded and she was looking a tad rough on the edges.

The decision was made to spruce her up a bit with a new donk and set of covers to begin with, but as the story goes you kinda get carried away when you start pulling everything apart. Anyway thought I’d save a bit of coin by looking for a second hand 4 stroke motor rather than by new, and the extra coin I save can go on a brand new paint job.
So ended up stripping the whole boat and restarting from a bare hull... Spent a few days sanding back the boat ridding it of normal wear and tear, bubbling paint rust etc from salt and corrosion. Regrettably spent ages removing the existing vinyl decals. They were a royal PITA! Found that leaving it out in the hot sun worked to my advantage. The hotter the aluminium got, the easier the old stickers came off.

In the meantime I had the staff at All Boats & Caravans source me a plum 4 stroke 140hp Suzuki that had done bugger all hours off a twin rig. Sold my existing 140hp 2 stroke mercury saltwater motor along with the steering etc through gumtree for a decent price which was a bonus.
They fitted the suzuki (along with all brand new throttle, cables and suzuki gauges to suit the single engine), new hydraulic steering setup and deckwash setup for me quick smart with out any troubles which was great. I custom made a face plate out of aluminium composite board in a gloss black finish to cover the existing holes from the stereo as I wanted to relocate the gauges opposite the new steering wheel.

So came time to either paint the hull myself or find some one to do it. Decided on the latter and asked Daniel @ DMACC Sandblasting and Spray painting to help me out. I dropped the tub off to him in Kewdale on Thursday morning and he spent the next few days prepping the tub and straightening up the sides etc as our choice of colour would need perfect prep for a flash finish. Dan was meticululous with every aspect. Pedantic with every dent and crease straightened over the whole hull including the doors. He even found enough time to sand back all the existing grip paint and ali floor from the whole hull as we wanted. We chose a 3 stage metallic pearlescent paint as seen on the Ford Focus RS just to keep Dan on his toes. Lol

Hoping to be a bit out there with this colour. He had it ready by the following Tuesday for pick up.

To Dans credit he pulled it off and least to say we were over the moon with the quality of finish. All for a reasonably more affordable price than the majority of other quotes we rang around for. She's currently sitting at home while we wait for the rocket launcher, bait board and windscreen frames to be sandblasted and powdercoated matte black. New windscreens are ordered so hoping to find time after Easter break in Kalbarri to finish her off. Will hopefully find time to keep an update here as things progress till shes ready for rebirth.

Footy thread II
Submitted by timboon on Tue, 2015-03-24 10:13The other is getting too long to keep up with so I've hijacked it....
Wayne Kerr............ What a fkin tossa
I know Cuzzi bro has his issues but at least he's not a little snake in the grass like that Tosser Kerr....
Good to see the WC people and the Collywobblers having a crack at each other, I think they'll be giving each other sympathy cuddles at seasons end when both their coaches are gone and the wheels have totally fallen off... Buckley is less likely to go as you would have to pry Maguires knob from his rectum...
Dogs look a changed team in the NAB but we'll see
Both the Adelaide sides will be pushing top 4
Freo to slide
Geelong look up and about... They should be within 10 goals of Hawks in rd 1.
Hawks for flag
Rough for Coleman
Hodge for 3rd Norm Smith
Fyfe for the brownlow he deserved last year that went to a stand out player in a shit team...

Burley bucket almost done
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 2015-03-22 22:27After losing my burley bucket a few months back I decided to make one of my own (much to my wife's discust haha) she sat there patiently holding it as I drilled each of the 525 holes... Just have to fininsh making them larger, going for a cheese grater affect. I used 150mm Storm water pipe and made it 480mm high.

boat rebuild few pics
Submitted by nackers on Sun, 2015-03-22 15:12gday all with the recent posts on boat rebuilds I thought I would share my own rebuild story.
after having ongoing problems with water in the fuel and draining the tank dry several times I finally bit the bullet and cut a hole through the deck to inspect.
my hunch was right there was water sitting around the suspect tank. Ok so the tank must have have holes in it and the deck was soft in two places.
Not so bad I thought, repair tank, put a new floor in .
WRONG
all the timber under the deck was waterlogged and rotten. this was a major, so for 8 months I dedicated every spare minute to rebuilding the old girl.(sorry wifey and kids)
I was nearly broken on numerous occasions (especialy the 9 days straight of grinding fiberglass over my xmas break).
I must say a big thanks to my bro inlaw Jason for his help and knowledge (ex boat builder) and a few friends that helped along the way.
anyway I am stoked with the end product and proud to say I did majority of the work myself .
all up it cost me roughly 10k and numerous items of clothing and a lot of beer.
the last pic is of the maiden voyage , we bagged out in 3 drifts .
I will let the pics do the talking .

Portable Gas Cookers Banned/Recalled
Submitted by southcoast on Fri, 2015-03-20 21:50Hi all,
I have had a look around and couldn't see any reference to this recall so have posted link to this article about a safety ban/recall of lunchbox cookers.
Article highlights dangers inherent in butane gas cartridge stoves.
If you're like me you probably have one onboard and throw it in for a quick cook up on the road or boat.

Dingo vs Mini Bobcat
Submitted by Red Dog on Tue, 2015-03-17 20:58Just had an old fibreglass pool removed so have a bit of a hole to fill.
I've got four truck loads of sand to move about 30 metres with limited acces due to a low garage door height so it's down to hiring a Dingo or a mini bobcat.
Back yard needs a bit of levelling in a few places as well. Hire rate seems pretty reasonable for a weekend.
Does anyone have any recomendation towards either machine?
The bucket on a Dingo from what I can see looks a little bigger than the mini bobcat but the idea of sitting on my butt while working for a few hours also appeals.
Appeciate any opinions...

Vac pack bags
Submitted by Bigfellaal on Thu, 2015-03-12 17:57Anyone interested in 200x250 pre-made bags in packs of 500 if I bring in a stack later this year. I am sick of roll bags as costs me $35 from the Good Guys for roughly 48bags and I have to cut an seal the pricks which cuts into good piss drinking time.
Sick of the shit quality ones off eBay that are thin and rip in the freezer or unseal.
I just hit the goods on heavy duty vac channel bags and tested 100 without fail. Looking to bring in the min order of 10,000 from the supplier. Probably about $125 per 500 if anyone is keen?
