Submitted by carnarvonite on Fri, 2019-04-05 18:41The first two pics are when fishing down around the capes, the big hammer we got off Bedout Island north of Hedland and the mako was cleaned up by small thickskins off Hamelin bay. Still got the jaws from the mako

One Big Hammer head
Submitted by Wes F on Fri, 2019-04-05 11:57Not a bad size fish. Some of these big ones don't survive after a long fight. Appears this one was loooked after well.
Keen jumping in with it at the end.

Round 3
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Wed, 2019-04-03 15:40The grand final rematch is upon us with the Pies all fired up after beating Richmond’s VFL side and travelling the grand sum of 0.00km over the three rounds. West Coast will welcome back Clubber Gaff into the engine room for his run at the 2019 Brownlow and Kennedy will be a lot better for his run last week. Call me crazy but I’ve tipped West Coast and I’m also tipping Boon to disappear for 7 days if the Hawks blow another lead this weekend.

A$$hole sellers on Gumtree
Submitted by bradz on Tue, 2019-04-02 09:18Just a winge.
Over the weekend someone on gumtree was selling a Simrad S2009 and HDS5 for $300. Bloody cheap. Anyway. I called him and we agreed on a price and agreed for me to pick it up the following morning. I offered to pay the deposit via eft to which the reply was "nah mate...I trust you. I run my own business. Im trustworthy. I wont sell it from under you". Anyway, long story short, the slime bag wouldnt take my calls the next morning and my messages keep going to his message bank which clearly says his business name.
Way to promote your business you flog. I wont name and shame him but this is not the first time its happened to me. Dont get me wrong, if the guy realises he is selling too cheap then he should just man up and take the call and explain it.
So, if you happened to be the seller and you are on FW, stop being a turd. If however you managed to pick up a bargain over the weekend, well done.
Winge over.

Bloody hurts - anyone else experienced this
Submitted by clayd on Sat, 2019-03-30 20:39Anyone got any advice. Stepped on a stingray around 3pm today. 15mm Puncture wound on the top of my foot that bled for about 1hr non-stop. Wasn’t too painful then. But now my foot has swelled up and it’s throbbing pretty bad. Toes are all tingly. Have done the hot water, which does help, but can’t sleep with my foot in a bucket. To top it off, i’m On a camp with my son, so limited medical supplies and have to tough it out for him to stay. A few beers and Eagles winning helps. Somone offered to help get me smashed with Bundy, but i’d Prefer them to hit me over the head with the bottle than drink that stuff. Any advice of what to expect appreciated. Have put antiseptic on the wound.

Well that didn’t end well
Submitted by Doc on Tue, 2019-03-26 20:21Took a fall off the roof of my bus on Saturday, snapping my right humerus. They’ve had to fly me to Perth to get plates put in, so holed up at Fiona Stanley Hospital. Fly back to Victoria tomorrow.

AFL Rd 2
Submitted by timboon on Mon, 2019-03-25 18:03Well what a ripper round it was.
Tipsters were on edge.
The reigning premiers flew to Qld and copped the big banana fair in the pie hole.
FREO monstered one of the flag favourites and have all but booked a berth in the last game in September.
So moving on to this week, another Thursday game.
The blow torch will start to heat up on teams that start 0-2 so what rabbit will simmos circus pull out of the hat taking on the fired up but hugely under manned GWS with half of their side missing from last year.
Will the wooden Spooner Hawks clock up another win with the worst midfield in the comp....
Just so many questions....

Canal Rocks ramp
Submitted by carnarvonite on Thu, 2019-03-21 20:06Latest news on the Canal Rocks boat ramp is that it is going to remain open for all users.
Might not be the best of ramps but saves heaps of fuel if you have to launch round in Geo bay

Dirty fuel
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Wed, 2019-03-20 13:43Just put the tub in for a service before we go up north only to find the fuel system full of water and some kind of silty shit. Not happy at all. I always go to the same place for fuel and could only imagine how much crap that has gone through. Thankfully our insurance will cover it. Def wont be going back there for fuel again. My mechanic said its not the first time he found this prob at that site.
On a good note it will be fixed before we head to coral bay
Goes to show you gotta be so careful. I for 1 will be keeping a good eye on the filter from now on

landcruiser 200 catch can after 20,000km
Submitted by pelagicyachts on Mon, 2019-03-18 09:21Thought this might be of interest to other 200s owners
I bought a new 200s late last year - my last 200 didn't have a catch can on and I wasn't going to bother putting one on the new one but the dealer actually suggested it wouldn't be a bad idea - I bought a HPD catch can as I liked the idea of the dipstick (meaning you don't have to pull the whole unit it out to check if its got oil in it)
At 10,000 km there was nothing showing on the dipstick (although it does not go right to the bottom of the can), car is about to go in for its 20,000 service and this is what was in the can - more so, of interest there was a fair bit of sludge at the bottom that clearly had moisture in it - must be from short trips but good to see that non of that is going through the turbos

Cricket World Cup.
Submitted by Deckie on Fri, 2019-03-15 16:52Not fishing, sorry, but can anyone explain to me why Smith & Warner are taking their cricket gear to the UAE ???
I didnt know they had proven themselves playing at the top of their games yet.
Both have had a below average time in the middle lately.
To think that someone that is playing well & gelled into the team will miss out because Aussie cricket is a "Boys Club".
I thought Justin Langer was better than that.
IOM they both should have been stripped of their Baggy Greens.......

Maths Guru help wanted
Submitted by Tom M on Tue, 2019-03-12 12:19Any smart fishermen out there able to roughly calculate the volume of water in Cockburn Sound. According to agency reports it is 100 klm 2 that would be surface area. I would suggest allow average depth 10 meters to make it easier.
Cubic or mega litres fine.
Leave it with you.

Follow up to Bret Carters case
Submitted by Rob H on Mon, 2019-03-11 09:57It would have cost Fisheries way in excess of $60K, but they say "a document doesnt exist to clarify the full cost".
What bullshit, how can they tip money into a hole without kinowing how much and what for?
If that is true it is a system wide open to rorting, mismanagement and just plain shoddy.

Long day out with rewards
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sat, 2019-03-09 21:17With the weather forecast the plan was set. Headed out 23nm out from mandurah. As everyone will know the weatger was as forecast. Was a slow day out with not too much on the chew other than pickers. In the end i got a pb bauldie and nearly another the same size which got off the hook on the surface and hightailed it straight back down and Brenden once again got braging rights with his catch. Also landed his pb shark and sambo. Sandy managed a small gummie and a kg. With a couple of breaksea thrown in for good measure.
