Easter Salmon?

Hi FW Crew, was wondering if there had been any regular sightings of salmon in the sound yet? Got my brother and his young bloke staying with me for a couple of days and was hoping to take them out and get their arms stretched, would be launching from Palm beach or Point Peron. Heard they were firing at the jetty a couple of weeks back but haven't heard of any since.

Cheers guys.

BD.

I owe an apology...

Rod Recommendations for Jigging

Hi All,

I'm keen to have a serious crack at jigging for demersals, I mainly fish 40 metres to 90 metres depth.

Have picked up a few good fish on jigs, but now want to set up a dedicated outfit for jigging.

What is everyone using ?

I would probably use the Stella 6000 that I already own, and want to match a good rod to it.

What do you recommend ? Are there better choices than the 6000 Stella ?

Any info appreciated.

Cheers

Epirb and extinguisher mounting

Guys,
looking for some advice and some pictures. we have recently purchased a Barcrusher 670C and I am looking for ideas where to mount the fire extinguisher and Epirb. Easy to access in case of an emergency but out of the way so they don't get damaged in normal operation. Cheers

Hi,

Unfortunately I lost my anchor in 35m of water west of Garden Island last week. Just wondering if there is anyone keen enough to dive that sort of depth on here? Reward offered...

Cheers Mark

Rod holder inserts

 Hi

I need to get hold of a few of these - see picture.

They are to be used in my existing rod holders to try using adjustable rod holders mounted on top.

I cant remember where I bought this one nor can I remember what they are called. Any ideas on this greatly appreciated

Thanks  -  Eric

Nice metro land based capture for somebody

Big Thanks to gruntre69

After my post about my rocket launcher launching my rods into the water and tearing my bimini gruntre69 (Grant) sent me a PM letting me know he was expanding from parachutes into marine trimming and could repair mine at a reasonable price.

Feeling I could trust the work of someone who rigs up a parachute for someone to jump out of a perfectly good plane, I drove round there the next day and he gave me a written quote which Club Marine paid out on. We also discussed getting my bench seats and backrest reupholstered.

What Grant ended up doing was completely rebuilding the bench seats with thick marine seaboard due to rotten wood, reupholstering the backrest and replacing the bimini perfectly to refit the existing clears. He even managed to tighten the front clears which was something that previously annoyed me.

To say I am stoked with the finished result is an understatement and Grant was meticulous with his work and was in communication throughout the whole job and beyond. I can highly recommend his work to anyone looking for marine trimming.

Campers

DID anyone go to the Perth camping show and see any great family 4x4 campers for two adults a four little kids?

Fishing NZ

 Hi guys

I'm heading over to nz for a work trip, and the wife is tagging along. We have agreed if she can go for a massage day we can go on a fishing trip. We are spending a few days in whitianga in the coromandel area and I was wondering if anyone has been on a charter out that way? I have looked online and a lot of the companies are book a whole boat kind of scene  where we are just 2 people.

Just for a laugh I messaged the producers of big angry fish to see if we can get out with them. As unlikely as it would be it would be a good story to tell the grand kids one day!!

With Easter around the corner ....

...... we’ve had an influx of rods and reels to be fixed and serviced.

With reels in particular it’s always good to get them serviced whilst they are in good working order ie “Preventative Maintenance“. This will ensure your reel won’t let you down on your holiday fishing trip and regular servicing will reduce overall costs of your service. Our reel servicer is one of the best in the industry and the turnaround time is fairly quick.

If you’re also needing a new rod tip or guide replacement we also have a very reputable rod builder/repairer that does all repair work and custom rods. He’s also very quick with turnaround times and prices are very competitive so pop in if you’re needing anything above - (Photo’s for illustration purposes only)

New Rig finally arrived

Its been a long 5 months but totally worth the wait for my new rig to be built. Stoked with the final product. Definite plug for Matt and the team at Genesis. Those boys are alltime with there work there. 7.5m cuddy cab Fitted out with 300 ponies, furuno 295 custom fairings for trannys, recessed tabs and all the trimmings. Next level weapon, now time to get some blood on her.

Dave Warner

 is thick as pig muck.

No idea when to take the game on and when not to.

Reckon Candice might think the same ;-)

Whale clean up of beach

A little confused. People are not allowed to remove seawed from the beach, councils not allowed to remove seaweed from the beach, reason being it is a normal environmental occurance and that environmental groups jump up and down. Then why should the whales be removed given this is a natural occurance. I know it will attract whales but isn,t that what happens in the environment. Could this be normal to the food chain and yet people make decisions that impact?    Popcorn ready to read peoples comments.

Prawning - lower reaches of the Swan

I remember years ago when i was working on the river all the boats anchored up in rocky bay dipping a net for prawns.

I believe autumn after the first rains flushes down and out through the lower reaches being a populkar time.

I see there is a chance of (not much) rain on saturday and again on monday.

Tides are most suitable on tuesday night.  Is this too soon?  Is anyone catching many prawns yet?

Hydro foil

Hi all I have been wondering if adding one of those hydro foil type fins will help my new dinghy at low speeds . I am finding that on the plane my boat is great but as i am getting onto the plane or motoring in the 5 and 8 knot zones the boat is abit of a pig and sits with the nose really high up in the air, hard to see where i am going. I was wondering if one of these would be a quick fix i have a Yamaha cv 30 on stessel 4.2m.

Hamelin bay Pilot whales beached again

It's happeend again, back in 2009 we were staying down there when the whales beached themselves, 100+ of them and none survived

Has hapepened again 9 years on to the EXACT day, this time 150-200, my parents are down there at present, Hamelin bay is closed to the public.

Not good

Busselton jetty - Saturday night

 Hey there,

Heading down to dunsborough this weekend hoping to pick up a few squid for bait. Was thinking of going busselton jetty saturday night but looks like conditions might be a bit rough (20-25 knot easterly and close to 3m NW swell), what do you guys think, still worth a crack? Worried that the squid might be put off by the odd swell direction dirtying the water and the wind won't make it any easier.

Cheers!
