trouting all weekend!
Submitted by crezz on Sun, 2013-10-06 19:07G'day guys,
so I went down to Manjimup/Pemberton area on the weekend and spent all of Saturday from 8am-4pm chasing trout with not much success. after going to all the tourist spots and then a few of my secret hard to get to spots I only managed to land one trout for the day and that was at Bigbrook dam. I also had a couple of short hook-ups in the dam. the water level was insane and the current was super fast in the rivers. I did spot a few trout in the few clear waterways that I fished however most of the rivers look like chock milk. if your thinking about going down for a fish i recon give it a couple of weeks for the water level to subside a little bit and the current flow to slow.

Exmouth Experience
Submitted by captain fg on Sun, 2013-10-06 19:03Hello guys, just made it to exmouth and after 12 hours of driving went to put the boat in this morning. Before I came up had everything serviced and thought i was prepared as i could be. Launched in perfect conditions and started to head out the heads of the marina and steering died. Dropped anchor and lucky for me i got some help with a tow back to the ramp. I wish i got the guys details but he was a very friendly local who had just come back from squidding with the family. Was very lucky.
Had a look and hyrdaulic fluid is leaking out a hose not far from the motor. Only here for 7 days so dead keen to get out on the water. My question is has anyone had something like this happen and is it an easy fix?
Have put a picture of the busted hose in the hope that someone might be able to help. Not much i can do here in Exmouth on a Sunday night so thought i might try on here.

Coral Bays stupidist mackeral
Submitted by Rob H on Sun, 2013-10-06 16:29This must be the stupidist shark mackeral ever. Cam pulled the lure in so we could have a look at the whales, and says
"dad theres a fish here"
the rods standing straight up, "yeah whatever"
so he lets out 1 meter of line and drags the lure back and forth twice-now we have something to feed Merv!

New McArthy Soft Plastic colours
Submitted by Oceanside Tackle on Sun, 2013-10-06 15:48There's no doubt McArthy soft plastics are very popular and we work very closely with McArthy in implementing new colours & models etc. The " Lavender Shad " colour has been very popular and we have just received stocks of the " New " 11 inch Mamba in Lavender Shad.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
For the bream anglers the New McArthy colour in the 4" Bristle Worm will impress. Its " Motor Oil " but UV based so in the shop its motor oil colour but in UV light it can change colours including bloodworm type colour like the picture we took.
*** Theres more in the pipe line for bream & flathead McArthy soft plastis so stay tunned. Chasing a good range of McArthy Soft plastics? We have the largest range so pop by and check them out and don't forget to ask about the new colours & models coming!!!

Dead fish at the Bent St Ramp Safety Bay
Submitted by Chatty on Sun, 2013-10-06 12:25Hi
Just thought I would share the devistation that has been happening in the Pond at the Bent St Ramp, Safety Bay. I have attached a photo of todays fish kill, lots of fish and a few crabs. Most of the crabs in the bay have been killed off over the last few days prior.
I have personaly witnessed this over the last four years, It cannot be good for our so called Marine Park
I believe it because of the nurient rich storm water that has been pumped into the bay over the last few weeks, starving the fish of oxygen.
Its about time that the drain was diverted to the open ocean, not an enclosed bay.(you can see the drain in the back ground)
Your thoughts
Chatty

old fishing books
Submitted by brayds on Sun, 2013-10-06 11:16my old man gave me 2 old fishing books yesterday.
Anglers Omnibus 5th edition, 1960
&
Complete Book of Australian Fishing edited by Roger Hungerford, 1977
i had a flick through them both, i like comparing the styles of rigs and thoughts on catching certain species between then and now. my general idea is that nothing has really changed apart from advances in gear(braid ect..).
i doubt the books are worth anything but they might be when i give them to my son

Help needed:Side mount control Evinrude
Submitted by rayzor23 on Sun, 2013-10-06 09:25
Hey guys, I'm in need of some info , I'm selling my 2000 Evinrude 90 seperated and I've got ole mate who is keen to purchase a motor but because they are a pair I have the OMC binicle mount control , We have been searching for a single side mount controller with little luck. The prices that have been quoted for new have been varied from $400-$600 which is a bit pricey for Richard .
if anyone has or knows of anyone who may have a controller for sale that would be appreciated.
The other option might be to split the binicle control but unsure if this is possible ?
Any help would be apreciated

Penguin Island sandbar
Submitted by Rusty Balls on Sat, 2013-10-05 15:44Hello All ,
Just read on yahoo that the wives of the blokes that drowned recently are suing the government for damages ..
Thoughts ?
I have fished the Bar for many years and always look at the sign that says don't try to cross or words to that effect with a smile ...anyone else had any 'moments' on the sandbar ?
I did get washed off one winter it was MY fault and wouldn't blame anyone else ..I can swim like a fish and it saved me that day.

Picnic Swan River
Submitted by Riles on Fri, 2013-10-04 16:26G'day,
I'm looking at taking the missus and son (one year old) for a picnic and a cruise up the swan river tomorrow. After reading some previous posts I'm thinking of launching from Maylands and heading up towards Guilford and possibly further depending on the little fella. I was wondering if anyone could recommend or give me any info on some picnic areas up the river I might be able to pull up to or info on some public moorings.
Also is it worth bringing a rod along or is it still to early for the bream to be back up the river.
Cheers

I did also notice that there were no stores having any fishing or outdoor displays like in previous years

The Supertrawler: So where did you get your opinion?
Submitted by Versus on Thu, 2013-10-03 13:34I know, i'm flogging a dead horse here, but after coming across this article I couldn't help wondering if anyone actually took the time to find some facts before forming an opinion. Practically everyone on here would had to have formed an opinion, posted comments about or, even signed some form of petition regarding the ol' supertrawler fiasco, i'm guilty too.
This isn't just about the supertrawler either, every time a controversial topic comes up, most poeple seem happy enough to just take as fact whatever they saw on Today Tonight, or read in The West, or heard from their mate Robbo, etc. Next minute everyones frothing at the mouth like rabid dogs, declaring minister/politicians/regulatory body is a (bunch of) useless imbecile(s) who should be sacked and given some concrete shoes.
So here's the link (if it doen't work, google 'trawling for trawler truths'). It's a whole 10 pages, and may take about 15 minutes. If you've commented on the topic, if you proclaim to give a sh**, then the least you can do is read it. It may not change your opinion at all, but at least you'll be better informed.
Final note of this rant: The bigger picture here is, if 'we' (rec fishers) want a voice, if we want to have some sway over the decisions that affect us and our interests, then we need to educate ourselves on the topic at hand, and present a coherent and valid argument. Knee-jerk reactions and uninformed opinions just give anyone else the licence to say "Oh, you don't know what you're talking about, your opinion doesn't matter then."
