Warnbro sound
Submitted by Tchampney on Wed, 2013-05-29 11:30Hey all arrived at port Kennedy boat ramp around 630 this morning. After half an hour of moving the weed from the ramp I finally got the boat in at 700. Off I went to my little gps mark I have for some broken ground. I anchored up and started the burley trail. Had a fresh yellowtail out as a drift bait, my Tyrnos on the bottom with a whole squid on one hook and scalie on the other. And then use my whiting rod. First fish in the boat was a pike around 8 o'clock. The fillets came off him for some fresh bait. I couldn't believe what I pulled in next... A juvenile baldchin! Very surprising! Then I battled the wrasse for an hour and decided that it was time to go... Wound up Tyrnos, nothing had touch the baits, then wound my drift bait up to find a big dirty grey ray on it haha figured I'd have one more cast and boom landed this little puppy.... Unsure of what it is? Thinking juvenile samson fish? (See pic) it wasn't a comfortable ride back to the ramp with this short sharp chop... Wind was 6 knots SE and swell was 1.8mtr so why was the chop so bad???
hope you all like my first report..

My week off diving the south coast.
Submitted by Chris fish on Sun, 2013-05-26 22:04After a lot of anticipation about my week of R&R and getting wet I was finally on the plane home!!
first day I was off to windy harbour for a boat dive and to pick up my new dive gear and test it out. Wind was a problem but vis was good and we managed a good feed in the few hours we where out with a nice blue for my mate about 14kg and I got to shoot my new gun and got my first boarfish.
The next day I was back in Albany and went for a quick shore dive at a spot that has always served me well, 30mins in the water and we had our 2 blues with me getting a nice one at about 13kg and Toby a small one about 6kg
finaly Friday morning came around and 4 of us where up early to head off to a spot I had been looking at for months. A crazy 4x4 to get into the spot and almost 2 hour trip from town to a very isolated piece of coast that I was sure would hold some insane fish. We got to the spot suited up and jumped in and almost straight away a nice boarfish was sitting right in front of me. First fish on the float line and this was looking great!! Worked our way to the deeper water and spent the day working 12-18m and the plate coral reefs with just fish everywhere I looked!!! Grouper, queenies, bonito, sambos, salmon, big skippy, boarfish, harelquin and other reef fish just apearing everywhere in the great vis!!
At the end of the day our haul was 5 boarfish, 4 queenies, 3 harlequin, 2 fox fish, 1 skippy 2 bonito and a breaksea kept with us being so fussy on what we took.
anyway that's enough out of me and here is some photos of the weeks efforts.
Go pro is on its way so soon ill have some underwater action shots.
