Disney World Fishing ????

Just putting it out there, is there any spots in Disney world  Orlando to go fishing, I'm here for 2 weeks and was thinking of catching a fish here in the USA

There is lakes and water way every where, I was thinking if they had fish in them ???

I have heard there is some Snakeheads in the rivers here that were introduced and the bass but I don't know where ?

The blue water fish I will get once we get to the Bahamas after the 2 weeks here, my Self and the boys were thinking of catching a white marlin just for some thing to do on the 7 day cruise

  Thanks.          Jeff

Denmark & Albany Help

Hi All

Heading down south to Denmark and Albany with the hoards of others over the next week and a half and hoping to get onto some quality fish. No 4WD and will be landbased. Mainly keen on fishing the beaches for some Salmon or even some Whiting, Pinkies (I hear you can get them at Wilsons Inlet at certain times).

Will most probably be with the Mrs so nothing too dangerous would be what I am after.

Thinking Wilsons Inlet, Cheynes and few of the Albany beaches but don't really have a clue.

Ive had a bit of a look around on here and on the net but hoping some of the FW crew can help me out.

Cheers

Need a Deckie over Long Weekend for Bottom Bashing?

Hey Guys & Gals,

Hoping someone needs either a Deckie and/or Fishing Pal to head out with them for Bottom Bashing (Dhuie/Snapper etc) over the long weekend.

I've got the Friday off as well.

Have my own gear, will supply bait, chip in for fuel etc.

I'm very laid back and I never get bored trying.

If you're interested send me a PM and we can get in contact.

Thanks!

big hand picked shovelnose shark

Sol TD2500

Has anyone stripped (and put back together) a sol td2500

I stripped mine the other day and I have mostly put it back together. Stripped it because it got dunked and I wanted to make sure there was no salt water lying around inside. Interesteing that it was as dry as a bone inside so seaks all worked. Only little bit of corrosion was on the anti reverse lever shaft which doesn't seem to have any moisture intrusion prevention, just a tightish slide fit in through the back of the reel

Anyway, washed it all with Kero and after that noticed some parts that I hadn't identified while stripping. They must have been attached to some bits and floated off during the Kero wash

They are

3 shims - very thin SS about 13mm OD by about 10mm ID

1 bigger shim which I didn't measure and I have put it back in the clutch assembly - reasonably sure it was meant to go there

1 small ss washer about 5mm OD by about 2.5mm ID

and a small plastic sleeve with a shoulder which I cant really identify on thne schematic

I have attached pictures and if anybosy has done this before, any help will be appreciated

Thanks

Eric

Rfbl

Just had a thought do you need a rfbl if you release all of your fish and take nothing home?

2 x Deckies available in Exmouth now till 1st May

As per title, my mate and I arrive tomorrow and we are there till May 2nd, we have no boat.

So if anyone is up there and has a couple spare spots that would be awesome!

Prefer to be freediving so can pull your anchor out when stuck, grab some crays, or even shoot Reds some for you   ;)  Chipping in for fuel, filletting fish and cleaning down boat afterwards goes without saying.

Cheers fellas!

Places to fish in January

My uncle is coming to Perth next January and I want to take him on a fishing trip somewhere so I was wondering where the best places would be to go. Preferably south somewhere as he feels the heat being from England. :) WE do not have a boat so we will be fully landbased. I want to take him shark fishing and hopefully get him on to a shark but he also enjoys river and esturine fishing. So with all that in mind, where would be the best place to go!?

Update - Keep Australia Fishing

Just received this. I hope that this has not been covered as I have been away crabbing rather than reading Fishwrecked.

But just some information.

Thank You and Well Done to all Keep Australia Fishing supporters!!!
With your Support:
  • More than 35 thousand submissions were sent to the federal Government telling them DON’T LOCK US OUT!!!
  • More than 2 thousand phone calls were made to Minister Burke and his Ministerial colleagues telling them DON’T LOCK US OUT!!!.

Marine Park Process update
Disappointingly - but not unexpectedly - the management plan process for the national marine reserve network was rushed so the Government could meet its agenda. As a result, there was no genuine consultation with local stakeholders about how the 2.4 million square kilometres of Marine Reserves will be managed. The Government had allowed only a token 30-day public submission period to review and comment on the plans.

Where is the Process Now?Right-click here to download pictures. To help protect your privacy, Outlook prevented automatic download of this picture from the Internet.
The Marine Reserve Management plans have been formed into regulation and have been tabled for approval by both Houses of Commonwealth Parliament. If uncontested, through a disallowance motion, the regulations will become law and Australian recreational fishers will be locked out of around 1.3 million square kilometers of our seas. This will be the biggest lock out of Aussie fishos in Australian History.

If unstopped, when will the Lock Out occur?
The Government will implement the management plans on 1 July 2014. Till that time, the status quo exists in all proposed marine reserve areas.

What can be done to stop the Biggest Aussie Angler Lock Out in History?
KAF, in conjunction with other fishing organisations such as AFTA, ARFF, ANSA, AUF and GFAA, has been actively lobbying the Government and Coalition on this issue. But we need to do more if we are to stop the lockout becoming law.

We are organizing a number of activities, such as write-in and phone-in campaigns and local rallies, to raise the profile of our issue with the community.

We will be asking for your help on these activities. We will keep you posted through the KAF website, Facebook page and newsletter of these activities and will let you know how you can help us protect your fishing rights.

We are also seeking commitments from the Coalition that if elected after September 14 they will review the regulations and reverse the Biggest Aussie Angler Lock out in History.

The NSW Leads the Way on Marine Parks!
Last month the NSW Government announced their response to the independent report into Marine Parks. The NSW Government will set up an independent scientific based panel to assess whether recreational fishing can occur in sanctuary zones. The review will take place over the next six months. In the meantime the NSW Government has provided an amnesty for recreational fishers to fish selected sanctuary areas from the beach or rocks.
This is a step in the right direction and brings science rather than politics back into decision-making on marine park access. KAF has urged the federal Government to adopt a similar approach to its planned marine reserves. Unfortunately, Environment Minister Tony Burke and his colleagues in the federal Government seem to have stopped listening to common sense!

Macquarie Pipeline updateRight-click here to download pictures. To help protect your privacy, Outlook prevented automatic download of this picture from the Internet.
The Orange City Council still continues to prepare for the construction of the pipeline even though the go ahead has not been given. The pipeline – which threatens iconic native fish such as Murray cod, trout cod, golden perch and other species in the Macquarie River near Bathurst in central-western NSW - still requires approval from Environment Minister Tony Burke before it can be constructed. A delegation from the Friends of the Macquarie group met with Minister Burke’s office in March where they were informed that an application for the pipeline had not been received.
KAF will continue to work with the Friends of the Macquarie to ensure commonsense prevails on this issue. Please let us know on if you can assist us in any way.

Australian recreational fishers need a Charter!
Keep Australia Fishing is working with the Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation and other national and state organisations to develop a National Charter for recreational fishers.

Why do Aussie Recreational Fishers need a Charter?
Australia needs a National Charter for recreational fishing so that the important role recreational fishing plays within our community is recognized and enhanced by decision makers and the broader Australian community.
  • There are an estimated 5 million recreational fishers
  • We contribute over $10 billion to the local and national economy
  • Recreational fishing a range of unvalued benefits to the community – from health and fitness through to riverine and marine habitat protection.
To date governments, policy makers and the broader community have not recognized the full range of economic, social and environmental benefits recreational fishing brings to all Australians.

What do we need? Right-click here to download pictures. To help protect your privacy, Outlook prevented automatic download of this picture from the Internet.
A Dedicated Parliamentary Secretary for Recreational Fishing
Appointment of a parliamentary secretary for recreational fishing sitting within an appropriate senior portfolio.

A Recreational Fishing Council
Establishment of a Recreational Fishing Council, chaired by the Parliamentary Secretary for Recreational fishing with representatives from other key portfolios and key representatives from the recreational fishing community.

Recreational Fishing is a Sport
The Australian Sport Commission should officially recognize recreational fishing as a sport.

Long term sustainable funding
Investment by Government and the private sector is required to ensure the following key activities are delivered.
  • Appropriate representation by the recreational fishing community into policy processes.
  • The development and implement of a business plan for the long-term sustainable public/ private sector funding for recreational fishing representation and policy development activities.

Science based access for recreational fishers
A comprehensive review of the IUCN categories used for determining activities with in marine reserves and marine national parks, assessing their application to Australian reserve systems and their relevance to Australian conditions – that is, we shouldn’t get locked out of an area unless there is a valid scientific, social or economic reason to do so.

Enhancing education awareness
It is proposed to develop a national education strategy to facilitate and co-ordinate educational activities at the national, state and local levels. This should cover issues like getting kids fishing and educating adults about the health and lifestyle benefits of fishing.

Research for recreational fishers
It is proposed to develop a dedicated public/ private sector research trust fund that can work with existing research funding mechanisms to focus research on priority areas for recreational fishing policy development. As recreational fishers we should know more about our contribution to the economy, society and the environment. A dedicated research program will assist governments and the broader community to understand the benefits of recreational fishing.

Enhancing and protecting our riverine and marine habitat
It is proposed to establish a dedicated public/ private sector environmental trust fund that will work with existing finding mechanisms and on ground organizations to facilitate activities that enhance and protect our riverine and marine habitat. Recreational fishers are true environmentalists and often lead the community in the protection and of our riverine and marine systems.

To ensure all sides of politics take notice of our claims KAF will be organizing a Support Campaign for the Charter. Tell us your ideas about what you would like to see in a Charter for Australian recreational fishers by email us at

how to get into a narrow car port

As a fisho with a buggered hand and arm , I love fishing but had a major drama getting my boat in and out of the boat port as I have only 120mm clearance on 1 side to fence house and about 100mm on the house side and its on a bit of a slope. I used to always need my best mate to come and get the boat out for me and get the boat back in for me (he told me it was doing his back in) lucky for me he spotted a thing called a boat and trailer mover on gumtree which we went and checked out .Guess what it is perfect pushes my boat up no dramas in to the boat port even over the grass and up u curb.I highly recommend them

Rod for Rottnest - west end tailor

Hi guys

I am heading over to Rottnest in May for some shore based fishing. In the past when I was with the Surf Casters all of the guys (including me) used to fish West End of Rotto for Tailor with a 4m low mount and large spin reel. However, if most of the fishing is done wading on the reef, with not that much swell to contend with, do you think a 10 foot rod is more suitable with say 30lb braid?

The rod will be used for spinning with poppers, large slices and mulies (both weighted and unweighted) but nothing more than about 100g. Can you recommend a rod for around the $150 to $250 mark that might suit? I will work on the reel after the rod is sorted.

I have an older Starlo Stix 902 Shore spin but it is only really suited up to 70g so looking for something else.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Cheers

Brad

Dundee landbased tackle?

 hey guys,

im headin up to Dundee Beach in NT during end of june for a wedding,

im gonna sneak a rod on the plane, which is a 9 ft custom made ide say its around 5 - 8 kg ( guestimate) and the reel i was gonna take is my daiwa opus 4500, which hasnt let me down ever for the years ive used her, although its only running 20lb mono

im looking to hopefully tick off the larger species of trevaly, barra and thredfin salmon off my list,

will this set up prove victorious? its the only one i think is in between the travel size and the size need to fight the fish

also in the way of lures, as i am a southwest fisherman, my lures are mainly metal slices and smiling jacks, few poppers ans soft plastics

will these cut it up there ?? any special techiques?

i am realy in the dark about the northern waters of australia and would appreciate the help

thanks

kyle

Mulloway on Soft Plastics

 Hey guys,

have been out a number of times at the Swan landbased with plastics for the elusive Mulloway. No luck yet but always an enjoyable arvo/night regardless. Just interested to hear if anyone has caught one in the swan before on plastics and if so what type? Currently giving squidgy slick rigs 130mm in black gold a crack but interested to hear if anyone has found a particular colour/size remotely successful. I figure it's a time thing as much as anything but appreciate anyone who takes the time to throw any info this way!

Cheers

My old PENN

I found a forty year old 113h Senator recently in very good condition and decided to update it a bit.

I put a topless Tiburon frame and a new carbontex drag and a stainless gear sleeve and a new aluminium spool on it .

The whole project cost just over $300.00 and that included the cost of the reel.

I now have a very durable,reliable bottom fishing/trolling reel.

The second pic is of the original reel.
