bent st boat ramp
Submitted by petermac on Fri, 2013-12-06 20:51good and bad news about the ramp , apparently the dredging wont be finished until January (why does that not surprise me) the good news is if your careful you can head straight out from the ramp now as against doing the port turn and heading a k before you can head out

Trigg beach blue holes
Submitted by Mad fisherboy on Fri, 2013-12-06 16:20Hey guys me and a couple friends are planning to go fishing Saturday morning and we may go to trigg.
last time we went we walked out to the blue hole and got 5 solid tarwhine with 3-4 released but there were absolutely no waves.
According to the weather do you think we would be able to walk out to the blue hole? We are 15 and are very keen fishos.
If it we r not able to walk out we may go to north beach jetty any tips or reports for that area would be nice thnx.

Shallow water cray pots and big swells
Submitted by Paul_86 on Fri, 2013-12-06 11:16G'day all,
So after the swell on the weekend (and on a few other occasions) I've managed to get my pots snagged up on reef or the pots get really beaten up and loose some battern's here and there.
So is there any tricks or something to try stop this happening, thinking maybe my ropes are too short. I pot in 8-12m's and ropes are about 15-20m's long.
Anything else I can do?
cheers paul

Stuck pot ocean reef
Submitted by Paul_86 on Fri, 2013-12-06 11:11G'day all,
so after the swell last weekend one of my pots looks like it's been dragged into some heavy reef and snagged up. Tried for ages yesterday arvo but no luck getting it free.
So in chasing a diver to help me unstick it. I can either take someone out there on my boat and get them to dive on it, plus dive some near by spots for there chance at some crays, or I can give them the coord's and they do it in there own time. Happy for anyone who is keen to keep any crays in the pot plus a carton.
Let me know if you can help me out. I planning to get back out there Sunday mid morning.
cheers Paul

Fishing Shows on TV
Submitted by crasny1 on Thu, 2013-12-05 16:09There has been comments about various fishing shows on TV.
But with soo many shows and channels why not give the troops a heads up on here to advise when and what channel.
Mostly for me by the way because I seem to miss them all
But would be nice to have a Fishwrecked Fishing Show TV guide.

Taxidermy in Perth
Submitted by tailor marc on Thu, 2013-12-05 09:23Hi guys, Just a quick question about Taxidermy .
Just found my sailfish tail in the shed after 25yrs and its looking pretty bad but still has the shape etc. I would love to get it done back to the way it looked when i caught it , its huge, came off a 3 meter sailfish 105 pounds.
If its to far gone i would like to use it as reference size to get one made up.
It will go in a huge framed display along with the original rig, rod & reel, Images and news paper image. Over all the perfect display for my best landbased capture from the best place that means the most to me on planet earth.
Any help muchly appreciated

Snapper - Caught and release
Submitted by Karak on Wed, 2013-12-04 22:56Hi,
I "caught and release" an undersized fish that look like a snapper but it was silver in color. I was using SP berkley nuclear chicken 5' with 1/8' jighead.
it had the similiar dorsal fin and bulging forehead like a pinkie.
Just wondering what kind of species it was.
No photos.
Thanks,

The Wrase cull !
Submitted by MandurahMatt on Wed, 2013-12-04 21:39Do you buy or catch your cray bait? What do you use?
Ive been buying a few tuna heads and bulking up with Wrase. I'm starting to wonder if I'm fishing them out in some spots! It's starting to take more time and effort to get a few. Not sure if this a good or bad thing?

live bait tanks
Submitted by randall df223 on Wed, 2013-12-04 21:14I am thinking about a live bait tank... will be home made. Thinking some form of barrell, bigger than a 10 litre bucket, secured onto the transom flat and plumbed into the deckwash, or with its own pump, so the overflow goes straight out over the back of the boat... thoughts? Where would I find a suitable barrell? What have others improvised with?

Props to Bluewater Scarborough
Submitted by Noxious on Wed, 2013-12-04 19:56G'day
I'm not sure if this is allowed as I don't think they are a site sponsor, please remove if this is against the terms of use of this site.
Would just like to give a public thank you to the boys at Bluewater Scarborough. I recently put up a post that my Daiwa Monster Mesh had a reel seat that was twisting on me. The guys PM'd me and offered to take care of the warranty issues with the rod, even though I didn't purchase the rod through them. I dropped off my faulty rod and a couple weeks later had a brand new one in my hands.
Cheers guys, great service, went above and beyond.

Perth offshore pelagics
Submitted by fishing fanatic on Wed, 2013-12-04 18:08So im looking at going out to the fads on friday chasing dollies and seeing if any wahoo or tuna are around again. Has anyone been out recently and had any luck?
My main question though is marlin. What the easiest way to locate one? I want to dive with and film one very badly and have heard there has been a few around. Should i just jump in one bait balls? start a burley trail? troll for hours on a drop or current? what would be the most effective way of finding one you guys reckon?
Cheers, Jacques

Exmouth tackle advice please
Submitted by niloc1984 on Wed, 2013-12-04 17:58Hi guys.
Just after some advice on what tackle to start preparing for Exmouth
What lb line to use for the different types of fishing.
What Leader strength and length to use
What size and type hooks to use for bottom bashing
What size weights to take up there
Im heading up there in April and will be taking my 4.5m runabout. Im hoping to get out behind the reef and basically planning on trolling some lures around and then bottom bashing when the sounder gives me the OK.
I understand that there are good tackle stores up there and will be popping in to pick up bait and lures but also want to be as prepared as possible when I get there as ive never had the opportunity to get into the bigger fish around perth due to boat size.
Il be back closer to the date to see if anyone else is going to be there at the same time, always good to meet someone else keen on fishing
Thanks in advance

HELP "ROD" to match DAIWA SALTIST 4500H ?
Submitted by DhuBoi on Wed, 2013-12-04 17:23Hi fellow fishwreckers been a while since my last post been busy. Recently for my birthday the missus got me a Daiwa Saltist 4500H . Just curious if you people could give me some ideas on a rod to suit. I will be using it for snapper fishing and hitting the demersals. Probably rigging it up with 50lb braid Berkly Whiplash. Prefere a rod with a softer tip .
thank you in advanced . All suggestions welcome price range is 100-300 bucks .
