What does an avg day of fishing cost you?
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Mon, 2011-05-30 12:43Ok, putting it out there, what does an average day out on the water cost you all up - add the car petrol to get there, bait, ice, food, fuel, what you spend losing gear. Just a rough average on an average trip out. I know its an out there question because theres so many variables that factor in, but whats a rough estimate of a 'usual' day?
(not including the brownie points or pink slip costs) :)

I dont want to let some of my gear out of my sight and also it will help with my weight allowance.. haha.
Thanks in advanve

Exmouth Marlin Trolling with Tyrnos 30 (2 speed) - advice
Submitted by Sammut on Sun, 2011-05-29 22:19hey guys...
heading up to exmouth end of june and going to be doing some trolling for marlin. im going to get it respooled and not sure if i should go for mono or braid. i know with the mono i'll pull less hooks but will have lower line capacity.
Mono line capacity is (kg/meters)
14/548, 18/411, 23/320
Braid is (lb/meters)
50/823, 65/773, 80/686
any advice would be great!

endless droppers
Submitted by fisho-ron on Sun, 2011-05-29 22:09hey guys
got a question about endless droppers on the paternoster rigs?
i hope this makes sense!!
the rig is like the ready made dhufish rig you buy from bcf, but i tie my own.
i have been using this set up and have had issuses with the eye of the hook, where it comes around back to the shank cutting through the endless loop when it gets loaded up big time, had it happen again this weekend with something big on, so just wondering what other ways to tie up a patto rig?without resorting to 3 way swivles and so on.
had one suggestion already that i will look into... putting the hooks on the mainline first and then tieing the loop, just means you can not change the hooks once tied which would not be a problem.
i am using good quality 100lb mono leader and also had it happen on 150lb.
is it loading up too much causing the problem? (just back of a tad and take it easy?)
hook problem?(maybe fully welded eylets)
angler problem(more than likely)
thanks in advanced
ron
edit.. this is the endless dropper, then you slip not the hook on

Fish ID
Submitted by santhmoore on Sun, 2011-05-29 20:36Hello people, came across this small school of fish offshore south of Rotto, landed 3 in as many minutes, the one pictured is 58cms. Not sure if they are ruby snapper, red snapper or something different entirely. Any suggestions? A very interesting fish, I'm guessing Red Snapper.

A Warning for Bunbury Fisho,s
Submitted by barneyboy on Sun, 2011-05-29 18:27I went out for an arvo fish and fished until about 8pm. I decided to use the Australind ramp for a change. I got half way through "the Lesh" and was looking for the leads for the channel and couldnt find em. "BOTH LEADS FOR THE CHANNEL ARE OUT" so dont rely on em for the channel section.

Hilaries Cat Clan!
Submitted by Mitch300491 on Sun, 2011-05-29 14:58So i went out fishing at Hilaries and Freo last night as i havent fished much around the ocean these days. Rocked up at Hilaries about 3. Caught a few Pike on soft plastics but besides that not much. Saw a ripper flatty caught off the rocks next to me though. Anyway after fishing off the north wall for acouple of hours i managed to spot atleast 3 different cats hanging around and under the rocks on the wall. Anyone else spotted them before? lol didnt know if they usually hang around there or if it was just an odd occasion.
Heaps of pike around Freo as well.... A guy down at E-shed hooked 4 rays one weighing 35kg apparently as well.

Cable Beach shore fishing
Submitted by selthy on Sun, 2011-05-29 10:31I'm heading up to Broome with my young family in August. Staying at Cable Beach. The trip is largely a family holiday, as such I'm going to be limited to the amount of time I can sneak out and do some serious fishing.
I am thinking of taking my flick rod and a few lures to chuck out whilst I walk alog cable beach. Has anyone done this, is it likely to be worth it, any spots I should head to?
Has anone been on a short, half day or less charter that would be worth it?

PB Soft Plastics Dhuy
Submitted by Seaquest on Sun, 2011-05-29 09:59A few photos from yesterdays fishing trip off Cape Nat.

Liam with the first dhuy for the day. Caught on a Abu baitcaster.

Liam with another nice dhuy.

My PB dhuy on a plastic. Pulled the scales down to 17kg. Was caught on a McArthy 10 inch.

Teamed up with Harro and crew for the day. This pic is the boys all hooked up.
Was another top day and pretty stoked with the new PB.
