popping rod
Submitted by boonmack on Thu, 2012-04-26 21:32hey all
Am looking for a not too expensive popping rod and saw the Fwa 7'6 80lb rod for $220 seems reasonably good.
Anybody used on or have any info on something similar?
Cheers

stolen gear !!!!!!!!!!
Submitted by jack93 on Thu, 2012-04-26 19:19hi all my mate was recently down as eshed fishing for mulloway. He doesn’t get out that much recently coz of the sh&t at home atm.
he was fishing at eshed with his cousin when someone hooked onto a mulloway. He did the polite and respectful thing and brought his cousins line in and his line in (cousin went to the toilet just before someone hooked up).
He was polite enough to help them out and lend them his gaff (he was gaffing as they were new to fishing) he thought the gear will be fine. literally 5m away he bends down to gaff it, brings it up and his demon blood and saltist 30 ld were missing and a bluewater tip rod and a tyrnos 10 two speed. You may say he should have stayed with his gear but he wasnt actually any further away than he would normally have been.
he was really annoyed and I can feel his pain because this demon blood combo was the first decent combo he had saved up for as he was using one reel and rod for all purposes (okuma t30 and 24kg cheapy rod). anyway the point I’m trying to make is I think its rotten how people can treat others and thanks to this dirty thieving banker I have 1 less mate to fish with as he has given up because of scum that can’t get their own gear!
so if anyone sees these two items for sale suspiciously cheap at the same time could you please pm me! (demon blood was spin but with overhead reel) I believe that my mate loves fishing and I really don’t want him to quit so I’m going to try and find a relatively cheap combo for him to put a smile on his dial.
I strongly believe we should have a section for stolen items on the site. BEWARE AT ESHED

Best way to release undersized dhufish
Submitted by Juneka on Thu, 2012-04-26 12:55I had the pleasure yesterday of knowing that the release of my undersized dhuie was successful... Friends were diving while I was boat bitch for the day. I hooked a nice little dhuie just as 2nd diver was about to roll into the water - asked him to wait a sec, as I was hauling my fish up right where he was going in...
He commented - 'there's the release weight over there', and was about to drop into the water, so I suggested that he take my fish with him... he did - and descended to about 15 metres before it escaped his grasp, and took off like lightning!
Sorry to report that my friend wouldn't go for extra dives for subsequent returns (we landed 5 undersized dhuies for the day) and we resorted to using the release weight on them...
As a secondary comment - my 2 friends scored 11 crays between them on their first dive, so didn't bother with a second!
Was an awesome day out on the water, once the wind dropped! Like glass coming back in at 5pm!

How long do you wait
Submitted by Fraser 5.25 on Thu, 2012-04-26 12:13Just wondering for those that have young kids and have gotten them into fishing, how long did you wait before you got them on the boat and out fishing? My son is just over two now and it would be nice to get him out there fishing with me as the wife complains every now and then that I am fishing too much. But if I get the young fella into fishing, she might leave me alone;) Only problem is, my idea of fishing is usually 8 hours unless it is rough out in the blue yonder but I think this might be a stretch on the young bloke's interest levels so it might be short trips and not far out when I try to get him out.

Hillarys marina
Submitted by Jeffree on Thu, 2012-04-26 04:29last night after 6 hours of studying, i was so keen on getting out of the house (staring at a blank wall becomes interesting when studying). so i packed the car and drove to hillarys.
i wasnt expecting much, just happy to be out of the house. I dropped a squid jig around the breakwater tavern, and a school of tailor came up to check it out.
so off came the squid jig, and on goes a 130mm yo-zuri crystal minnow. i caught a tailor a cast for 8 casts, then bagged out. they werent big by any standards, but all legal 31-35cm.
so gunna have 2 for breaky tomorrow, and butterfly the rest for bait for mondays deep drop, and dougie, if your reading, the butterfly tailor are gunna be my secret weapon for successs ;)
the lure in the pic is a 130mm crystal minnow

Transducer choice
Submitted by wangler on Wed, 2012-04-25 20:21Hi all,
I am needing transducer for my broadband box I have connected to my Lowarance 7200 globalmap. The tranny that comes with a HDS7 is a Max 250W Peak to Peak (31W RMS) actual; 30,000W Peak to Peak analog equivalent W.
So, has anyone used an Airmar 600w TM and got a better pic than the TM that comes with a HDS7?
250W as to 600W, the 600w surely would be better, but things are not always as they seem. I guess what I am after is proof if the airmar 600w would perform any better through the broadband box ?
thanks

my boys first taste of the pilbara fishing!!!
Submitted by krabman on Wed, 2012-04-25 11:04Hit the coast for 2 days to give my 4 year old son a taste of the pilbara fishing. As it is his first time fishing out in the blue i didnt know what to expect but it was awsome and he had a great time.we headed out in perfect conditions with fish busting bait all around us so out went the trusty red head laser pro and game on straight up.Two mack tuna and he was stoked. Then the spanish macks came out to play.Three good size macks landed thanks to my little gaff man.A couple big trevors destoyed by sharks and it was time to head in to fillet the mack we kept and some lunch.THat was a action packed 2hour session for my boys first taste of pilbara blue water.Next day we headed into the creek for a few muddies, too easy cleaned up 8 bucks in no time. Also managed to land a few queenies and got bricked by that fish that always brings me back to one of my favourite spots <congo> .so it was a great 2 days and cant wait to take him out again!!!

was going fishing tomorrow until...................
Submitted by pelagicyachts on Tue, 2012-04-24 15:29breathe.........
ok so not a good story but i have stopped, taken a few deep breaths and am all good now -
chugging down the river to Aquarama to get some well priced (not!) diesel for tomorrow, 4 of us heading over to Rotto and coming back Friday - beer, bait and food packed - everyone pretty stoked to be heading over for some good weather - just as we headed around point walter an almighty thump and big cloud of smoke out the back -not sure what we hit - (was in deep water) prop is fked and shaft is bent ........ limped home on port -packed everything up and was sat at home feeling really sh1 tty until i read a story on one of the ANZACS this arvo, yes am sure you have all read these before but here I am jacked off about missing a fishing trip and these poor blokes who were so young and missed out on "life" so that we could go fishing! -kinda puts things in perspective...
So i am going to the dawn service instead! -sorry if this is a bit of waffle - just feeling rather good now about a rather bad situation :-)
To any diggers on the forum who read this -sincerely, thanks alot guys :-)
cheers
