Swan Blueys!
Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 2012-01-28 13:26I do like my crabbing and I've been having a good run on the Swan Blueys. Drop netting the deeper water in the lower reaches and the crabs are decent size too!
Took my staff member Mike out last trip and went for a arvo run with a rising tide and got our bag of blueys!
They were chockers full of meat and tasted delish.........best crabs for sure!
A few coldy's and esky full of crabs just made it a great arvo!

if your like me you can already think of heaps of things to do with this. paddle baits out, stealth bream fish in that spot the boat wont reach... drop some pots out at canning bridge.. get drunk and float around in the river...
i dunno, i think its cool and cheap as hell...
get into it!

Is this stuff OK for ballooning?
Submitted by Cameron71 on Sat, 2012-01-28 11:56Hi all,
please see this link - its helium in disposable bottles.
http://www.partysource.com.au/balloons-and-accessories/helium-gas-tanks.html
I know helium is OK for ballooning but has anyone used this product?
I have read here that "party gas" is cheaper than helium. Is this price considered expensive?

Tackle Shops Port Hedland - Karratha
Submitted by Jelle on Sat, 2012-01-28 11:10I'm based in Port Hedland so basically my only options to get into some gear (other than internet) are K-mart and Smirkeys. Smirkeys has some good gear but is soo expensive.
I've heard there's a tackleshop down in Karratha, is it worth paying them a visit for say getting my hands on an ofshore spinning rod?

Ally boat repairer
Submitted by suicidal gardie on Fri, 2012-01-27 19:47Gudday Gents,
Hope everyone had a fantastic Australia Day holiday. I know i did while boating and having a go on a friends new sea doo, well that was until my mate got on the thing and didnt realise that when they are going slow they cant hardly turn at all. He came in close to shore to turn and squirt everyone and all he ended up doing was t-boning it into the middle of my Traiilcraft. Luckily the owner of the jet ski could see what was going to happen and jumped out of the way.
So my question is does anyone know of a good ally boat repairer that can get the dent out and make it look new again, preferably south of the river.
Thanks & happy fishing
Its a sad day,

Stradic or Saltist?
Submitted by Jelle on Fri, 2012-01-27 13:52Hey guys,
can't make up my mind on what reel to buy. It 'll be used for spinning for pelagics around the 10kg mark, but I'd also like to be able to use it for some medium bottom fishing.
I'm looking at spending about 250dollars, so the Saltist 6500 or Stradic FJ 6000 would fit the picture. (Or should I get a 6000FI and spent the rest of the money on some lures?)
Your toughts? Any alternatives?

Bleeding a tuna
Submitted by Fraser 5.25 on Thu, 2012-01-26 16:18What's the easiest way to bleed a tuna? We went out today and caught a tuna like the ones posted in "what a day out with seasport". I cut its throat like I do with all fish I keep but it was an effort and a half. I have seen on Adventure Bound when they caught that big tuna, Lee stabbed it just above the pectoral fin and bled it that way. Does this method work on the small tuna too or just cutting the throat is the only way?

Reel for Powerspell OH PE4-8
Submitted by Cameron71 on Thu, 2012-01-26 12:28Hi Guys and Girls
I'm using Torsa 20 on the above rod for a tiny bit of jigging (no success) and for bottom bashing running 50lb Finns.
I think the Torsa is a bit big and heavy and its ratio is 6.2:1 which makes it a mission to wind up a rig and heavy sinker 300m (if you've had to let line out in a drift fishing 150-200m say).
I'm after something a bit lighter and smaller with grunt and thinking 2 speed with lever drag. Would probably spend $500-$600 on eBay.
- Any suggestions based on what you're using?
- If I ought to have dedicated sep jigging and bottom bashing outfits please let me know.
Thanks very much.

what a day out with seasport
Submitted by alexangler on Thu, 2012-01-26 10:59hi all
yesterday me, my dad and a couple of mates headed out with whitey
with the swell around 2m and reasonable winds the weather was not too great
but amazing i withstood the swell and never got sick
after about an hour we arrived at our first drop
nothing much caught but we repeated the same drop again
bang my friend hooked up to what turned out to be a nice 6kg sambo
moments later i hooked on to something and after a decent fight finally landed my first dhuie
weighing in at 9kg, then whitey got a call saying spaniards and tuna where busting up further out
so after about half an hour we were there and began trolling
seconds in my dad hooks and lands a nice tuna
followed by others on the boat catching spaniards around 10kg and my mate getting a nice tuna as well
now it was my turn and I hooked and landed a monster 14kg spaniard that was nearly as tall as me for which i will be uploading a video of the fight.
after this my other mate who was really sick landed his only fish of the day a 12kg spaniard
this was all caught before 9am, for the rest of the day bottom bounced and bagged out by about 1.30
my mate caught 2 breaksea cod, 2 pinkies (released), a size dhuie and a goatfish
my dad landed some pink snapper as well and another size dhuie and a nice sambo
I topped off my day by catching a ripper baldie as well as releasing 5 snapper(some legal), a skippy and a foxfish
all in all it was a great trip for everyone and a big thanks to whitey and his deckhands
can't wait to go out again
thanks alex

Disgust at Lancelin
Submitted by Rickus on Thu, 2012-01-26 08:16Me and a couple of buddies went to Lancelin for a bit of kayaking and 4 wheel driving last weekend. After a top day out on the water we went for a few frothies and a steak at the Endeavour. We were a bit full afterwards so went for a stroll down to the jetty to see what was being caught. I have never been so disgusted in my life. The first group we walked past were busy filleting a four inch yellowtail....wtf!! Every crew on there was the same...pillaging baby fish and ruining the stock for the future...where were the fisheries???? If we hadn't been so hopelessly outnumbered I would have kicked each and every bucket I walked past back into the water!!!!!Apparently the jetty gets overrun like this every weekend....I don't want to come across as racist but JHC there wasn't much english being spoken on the jetty that night.

Lucky side of the boat??
Submitted by Fraser 5.25 on Wed, 2012-01-25 17:31Does anyone else find that there is a lucky side of the boat? In the past, I have had my uncle and a mate from work fish on my boat and most of the fish come in over my side of the boat on more than one occassion. I fish on the starboard side as I go from the controls to throwing out a line and the decky on the day fishes on the port side. I throw the sea anchor out the back to make the boat face the direction of the drift. My transducer is on the starboard side if it has any affect and the same bait is used on all the lines but I can't say if the bait presentation is the same though. My mate reckons that he is bad luck but I don't see the problem as he is the one not catching the fish, no complaining here. ;)
