Cheers, Andrew

fishing tomorow and Sunday Perth Metro.

To my inexpiriences eyes , It looks like a half decent weekend of fishing coming up this very weekend.

so who is going?

Or,... Am I wrong in what I think the weather will be like?

I certainly will if it is nice and flat with easterly, south easterly winds, just to wet the lines burns some carbon (about $2,30 of it I fI can) and have another day in paradise!

A shark gets sharked!

This is from a newspaper article a few years back.

Does anyone know if its a common occurance for sharks to predate upon others of their own?

Cheers.

Tonights squid 7/7/11

 Hey all.

I only had to have a half day at school today so i asked my mate if he wanted to go for a squid down at woodies and the reply was yes so jumped in the car with all the gear and headed down to woodies.

Got to woodies and the wind was there but not to strong so i started flicking a jig around and got a cuttlie almost straight away. I released it and continued casting only to catch another one a few casts later which was also released.

I then changed to a pink jig and started casting again, i then got 4 squid within 10mins only small but enough for a feed. I then moved down the rock wall abit cast out the jig and as i was walking down to get lower to the water i felt weight so i lifted the rod and set the jig into a decent squid which was only just hooked. I got my egi gaff out and got it in one motion right in the pointy part of the squid. The wind then picked up to much to continue there so we moved on.

We got to the other spot and the wind was nice there so started casting around and after half an hour or so i finaly got something but it was another small cuttlefish which i planned on releasing again and was only lightly hooked so i turned the jig upside down and started trying to shake it off but it grapped it even stronger with all its tenticlals. It then turned and shot ink all over my arm and back( my first real inking) then fell off the jig into the water and shot off. I then caught a decent squid which was followed by another then one more and that was all i got tonight. My mate then went on to catch another 4 before we called it quites as i didnt have a jumper and we were hungry.

Finished the night up with Garlic squid and chips Yummo.

Cheers danno.

And one for Goodz.

Thats what i carry when i squid landbased. The bum bag carries 30 or somthing jigs and the leg bag carries 10 harimitsu's, i've then got the gaff, leader, iki spike, measurer, bags, clips, scent and a place for my wallet, phone and camera.

Lateo Pirates - Daiwa

Anyone in the know care to share any info on these new rods?

Link here: http://daiwafishing.com.au/?p=8539

Main reason is a purchase by me is immenent (sp?) on a 10' rod, mainly for lures/poppers/jigs, also a very occasional bait. targetting salmon/tailor/snapper/mulla's etc

I see bluewater have updated their FB page that they are coming soon, interested in the new rod before I might jump the gun on what i'm considering being a 10' sensor surf or a 10'6' Kingfisher Stimulator (both maybe a bit light at only 6-8kg), or a heavier lemax president royal. The specs look good on paper and exactly what i'm after, again on paper...

Anyone have any info on ETA for this rod and/or approximate cost?

Great Barrier Reef/Whitsundays??

Hey guys!

My friends and I are possible thinking of hiring a boat (houseboat) for my bucks party to fish around the GBR/Whitsundays for a week next year..

this is the kind of boat we're looking at

http://www.charteryachts.com.au/charter/qld/whitsundays/highland-35-new

just wondering if anyone has fished the GBR without a guide and how'd you go? I know there is alot of marine sanctuarys and stuff like that to look out for but thats ok. From what iv seen the fishing should be crazy, might nail a big GT finally. I fished a few charters around the area so im pretty confident it will be a solid trip

Any other info on either the boat (if anyone has done something like this before) or the fishing would be great...

Cheers fella's!!

furuno sounders

Evening all , with the new boat now arrived its time to fit it out, Im definatly going with the FCV 295 but I'm wondering if the extra coin for the 1150 is worth it ???

It basically seems to be the same but with added digitial filtering software...Is this only for pros where you are trying to pick out particular bait schools or prawns etc and would need to learn how to use it or is it a handy feature that the average fisho can use ???

Anyone with real world expierience with the two sounders ???

Cheers fishfish....

Random footage

Tailor rod

 Hey all.

I've always been in love with catching tailor and most of them have been on baits but after seeing so many pics and reading so many tips and techniques about catching them on lures im keen to give it ago. I've got beach outfits and flickies but now searching for something in the middle for poppers and metals.

Does anyone have a rod that is light but also forgiving with a bit of rough treatment in the 15lb line range? Im looking for something in the 7ft at most range preferably a 2 pce rod for under 200 dollars? Ill be matching it with my Stadic 3000FI with 15lb braid.

I was thinking over a 20lb wind on leader should i then put a swivel on then 40lb leader down to a popper/metal slice is that the right way to do it? I'm mainly going to use this outfit for popper fishing but i'll most likely be baitcasting mulies with it as well.

Which lures do you guys and girls like for throwing at tailor? Poppers and metals? I've got a roster popper the small one, and 3 or 4 ritcher plugs as well as quite a few metals in the raider and twisty range. I'm looking for lures in the under 20 dollar bracket?

Cheers Danno

Dinghy

Hey guys im looking at buying a second hand dinghy in a couple of months and the budget is no more than $1800, im having trouble finding an average hull with a decent motor and a decent trailer for this price, i am looking for no more than a 3.5 boat with a no less than 10hp 2 stroke, what sites are worth having a look at? Cheers

Yardie Creek Road

Anyone hear of an accident where a car/boat trailer hit a roo and rolled?? about a month ago with heaps of gear lost or damaged ??

Videos from my Broome Trip

Here are some of the videos I took in Broome, my mate ben is doing the fishing most of the time. I always say i just come along as his camera man.. haha. Might be a few F bombs so there is your warning if your worries about that kind of stuff.

This first vid is of one of the first few tuna we caught for the trip, we were pretty rapped to get it in as the camera ran out of memory about 2 seconds after we got the fish in. You can here me trying to tell ben to "just get it up: at the end. haha

This vid is of anothe tuna that had been sharked abit earlier in life, shot with my ipone4

This vid is of one of the many sharks we caught in Broome..

This vid is of the huge school of queenies we spent hours casting at on the last day, had the light gear out... was heaps of fun.

This vid is of one of the many double hookups we had at the queenie school. Sorry about the camera work, its not easy fighting a fish and filming it at the same time.

Hope you enjoy guys!!!

Tide And wind?

Hi,

Just had a question about the tide changes, is it every 12hours 25mins for a change or does this vary? Also what wind direction is considered to be best for beach fishing? at night, i know alot of the times you head out at night and the wind is coming at you.

thnx

Daiwa Emeraldas 2506 - Anyone used one?

Hey Guys,

Im quite interested in this particular Reel but im a little worried about the internals, all that ripping and jigging might not be the best but that is what it is built for.

Has anyone used one or has one, or should i just stick to my Sol 2000. Ill be putting it on a Egi Force EB-832L.

Cheers Guys for your input.

Exmouth July - over the school holidays

Managed to score a week off during my mrs school break (she's a teacher), heading up to Exmouth for the week (9th - 16th). Hired the 6m fwd cabin from Aspa at exmouth boat hire for a few days, hopefully it all goes well. Been told it can get quite busy over the school holidays like most other popular destinations??

So far I'll be meeting up with aussiebreamer to head out for a fishing trip (or ten) - but if anyone wants to meet up to have a cast & a few drinks let us know.

Cheers.

Dhuys and Amberjacks off Cape Nat

Well finally got a break in the weather yesterday and got out for a fish. The plan was to get a couple of dhuys and then go jigging for sambos. Dave (wind on Dave) and Liam (lamby) were my deckies for the day.

Hit the first spot at around 7am. First drift was a little off target but the next resulted in a triple hook up which resulted in 3 dhuys. Smallest was released and the other two were dispatched into the extreme coolers esky.

One more drift and another 2 were boated both being released in good condition. All fish caught on a range of plastics and metal jigs.

With a couple of dhuys in the esky it was time to go and find some sambos. Decided to try a spot in the 60s that I hadn't fished in over a year that holds a few sambos from time to time.

After a bit of searching found a nice bait ball. First drift resulted in a couple of jigged amberjacks. Unusual catch for down here but great fun.

The next couple of hours were spent jigging up more of these little speedsters. The outfits slowly got lighter and lighter the more we caught.

The next few photos are some of the smaller outfits loaded up. The first being a Jig Force 90g rod.

A Major Craft Crostage

A Evergreen Poseidon Spin Jerker

After the session on the amberjacks we tried jigging a few other spots for not much, then called it a day.

Hopefully get out again this week while the weathers good.
