Cray pot tipper
Submitted by Bryce Day on Tue, 2016-10-04 02:02Well after seeing a few pot tippers on gumtree, most being not suitable for my needs (either to small or to light wall thickness) I decided to knock one up. Only problem was I was at work and cray season is rapidly approaching and I didn't have an ally tig. So I flicked a few drawings to a company to get a bit of a head start. I have to cut the green off the other end so it won't be that long. I will put some pics of the build process up when I buy my new AC tig on Thursday, running full size cane pots so will see how it goes. Oh and one of Hezzys for something different

Go Pro Underwater Footage
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Mon, 2016-10-03 08:50I'm pretty keen to grab a 2nd hand Go Pro to drop down to see what's on the sea floor to get a better understanding of what I'm seeing on the sounder. I don't wanna spend a lot in case I get it snagged or a dirty big sambo comes and eats it so what's the thoughts on a Go Pro Hero 2 or is the technology getting too old now?

Withnell Point DHI
Submitted by Baitballs on Sun, 2016-10-02 13:34Gday all, I have a trip planned for Dirk Harthog early next year. I haven't camped at Whithnell for 5 years and I have heard on the grape vine that the shack has washed away since. Is anyone able to let us know if there is anything still there, or is it just a beach camp now? I like Withnell point for it's protection and proximity to the top of the island.

Submitted by Oceanside Tackle on Sun, 2016-10-02 12:41Our cryovac machines have been a very popular seller over the last week or so with the pinkys season and several fishing crew's going North. We have just received another order so back in stock!!
The best cryovac machine (value for money) is the the EVAPACK MATIC brand. This machine is an Italian made product that has been around for many years and a proven product. We have sold a heap of these over the many years to customers and FW members with great feedback on how good they are.
It’s performance, power and reliability is extremely impressive. Whether you are in the kitchen, on a fishing trip or heading out on a camping trip, the EVAPACK MATIC will get the job done. There's no doubt cryovacing your fish, chicken or meat etc will keep it at its best and will last a lot longer in the freezer (without freezer burn also). In each EVAPACK MATIC box it comes with 3 different sizes cryovac bags to start with.
Priced at $239.95 and unlike other domestic branded models the EVAPACK MATIC is designed to keep on working without overheating after cryovacing multiple bags. Demersal Closure
Submitted by Grey Ghost on Fri, 2016-09-30 13:56I'm confused - I thought I read in here that demersal ban begins on October 1 but has been moved to October 2 and people without fishing licence free to fish on 2nd October.
Dept. of Fisheries website indicates ban begins on 15 October and runs until 15th December (thought it was end of January).

Has anyone ever used mudskipper as bait?
Submitted by Meeuwissen on Thu, 2016-09-29 21:45I always read the yawuru calender when i am in the coles in broome , i find them very informative
example
Yawuru people live by six seasons. We read the changing signs in the wangal (winds), the wula (rainfall) and temperature, and the plants and animals, and notice how these come together.
The wattle flowers in Barrgana mean that the salmon and catfish are fat. When the wattle seeds, the mullet lay their eggs, and when the seeds open up, the eggs have hatched.
One of them mentioned that mudskipper is good bait but i want to know more about how to rig them up and what type of species you could catch with it.
Any help would be appreciated

XXL Storm Garfish Available - Shore Catch Post 9
Submitted by Shore Catch on Thu, 2016-09-29 21:32It is the time of year that you can buy very large garfish from the fish markets, although not for much longer. The fish range from 200g to 350g+.
We have had many requests for this product so have purchased a number of lots and vacuum sealed fresh storm gar in 1kg packs, and snap frozen them.
The tackle shops have expressed interest, but I would like to give Fishwrecked Members first crack. There are expert skip bait fishermen on the site and these baits are as good as you can get, other than catching them yourself (packs of 3, 4 or 5 fish per kilo). They will last a long time in the freezer.

Retail is $25, but $22.50 to Fishwrecked Members from our premises in Wangara. Please send a PM if you would like us to hold stock for you, subject to availability.
We hope that provision of quality bait for particular applications, on a seasonal basis, is a service of interest? Mick

Mulloway gurus
Submitted by Just1morecast on Thu, 2016-09-29 10:36Hi everyone,
Just after some advice on the mighty mulla. With the run up to the new moon I'd like to throw a line in. The weather seems like it will be super uncomfortable on the beaches Friday so I was thinking of going tonight. Is it worth it or should I fish the actual night of the new moon? Also I'm thinking of a Perth beach. In your opinion is that wise or should I be in the river or moles?
Thanks to all/any advice

10-11knt Westerly
Submitted by Darren253 on Wed, 2016-09-28 16:11As the weekend weather is looking sh*thouse once again, hoping to have an evening session behind GI tomorrow night after work. What are people thoughts on 11knot westerly but with only a 1m swell?
I've previously always avoided westerlys after a rough experience in a 4.5m tinny but I'm now running a 6m Stessl.
I'm yet to get a metro snapper to the plate and the clock is ticking...

JRC FF 50
Submitted by Gleno12 on Sun, 2016-09-25 14:18So I've just brought a new boat and it's got a jrc ff50 with the airmar 200/50khz transducer on it. I was just wondering if any one has got a jrc ff50 and knows how it goes in deep water 200+.? I haven't had the chance to get out there and give it a test run just yet as my missus is due to have baby number 3 in just over a week. As the ban is coming up I don't think I will be getting out there until Christmas time, so was hoping someone could give us a bit of info. Also what settings you found that were the best for picking up ground?. Cheers Gleno

Reliable Quality Shipwright Wanted
Submitted by 22Tango on Sun, 2016-09-25 11:01Hi All,
I'm the owner of a Boston Whaler Conquest 235 with 700hrs on it. I want to give the boat a birthday and I'm trying to find a decent shipwright who can repair all he gel coat nicks and scores, replace the clears, repair replace the engine cowling, replace a light or 2 cover etc etc. The boat is in good condition, I just want to get all the small items completed which annoy me.
Ideally I'd like to get the work done in its storage shed in Beckenham straight across from where I work so I'm there if the need me for any further repairs.
Can anyone suggest someone reputable?
Thanks
Steve

Sore Kidneys
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Sat, 2016-09-24 17:37No I wasn't visited by a bearded man with a tyre iron in the middle of the night. Took the old man out for a sesh and we decided to stay inshore as the reef was breaking.
Tried chucking lures into some whitewater on some big bombies for nought so moved onto some broken ground and did a drift and the old boy pulls in a horse after I dropped a huge tarwine. We did another drift and I pulled in another one so we drove back and anchored up and sent out a berley trail and had some great fun until the blowies turned up.
Lost about 5 rigs just below the swivel and can only assume there were some bolt cutters around.
Great morning with the old man and an even better feed. Biggest KG went 46 and biggest skippy went 39.
