Food for thought when voting on September 7....
Submitted by scottywiper on Wed, 2013-08-28 10:10Note that these are not my thoughts...Jamie Chester can't post on here and asked me to put them up...as he thought some people might find it interesting.
"Went and voted today as I won't be here for the election. Voted Shooters and Fishers and other outdoor recreational groups first but made sure that the libs were above labor and the greens (which were last) in the preferences. Personally I always fill out my senate voting slip in the preference section as well (an easy enough task if you can count to 50 or so) because then I can vote for a minor party but still have control over where my eventual vote will go (assuming that the minor party wont get up). I personally think it's important to do this as I can still make a statement by putting a one-policy group first (and allowing that group to receive the electoral funding from that primary vote rather than the over funded majors) and thus help send a message to the major parties as to what I consider to be an important issue while still being able to choose either liberal or labor. So for me it's not even important whether you are a lib or labor supporter - if you are a recreational fisherman or against government control over every little goddam thing we do then vote appropriately and send a message to the major parties. And if you don't understand anything that I'm saying - well that's my argument as to why compulsory voting is ridiculous because it gives ignorant/careless people the same amount of voice as those that are informed and considered."

I have recently been down a cott groyne with no luck, haven't had the right wind for ballooning yet.. But have tried casting with gettin 20-50 metres out but no luck using fresh baits and everything

back in the day
Submitted by petermac on Mon, 2013-08-26 20:23got a pm from a certain young bloke that is a member of fishwrecked asking for some advice on spearfishing made me start to think back to the days I was first diving with old paper sounders and no gps what we used to do was get towed behind the boat ( about 50meters back those old blue band merks used to spew out lots of oil which could make you feel crook) once we found ground we would we would dive it and then move on all up it probably wasn't the right thing to do as we took many times the limits we have today

illuminance light while fishing at night
Submitted by Fish guts on Mon, 2013-08-26 16:17on Friday night,(23/08/13) just before the ffb out from woodies me and the bro decided to just stop for a look. we dropped down our lines and to our surprise as we broke the water quite a bright light flicked down the line as it sunk. same thing winding back up. about 2-3 meters from the surface the disturbance to the water from our lines created the light. for the record we weren’t smoking anything. id be interested to hear what this phenomena is.

gps gone to heaven! every gps mark lost!
Submitted by Dreamtime on Mon, 2013-08-26 11:47headed out saturday to try boat a feed, about half way out and the gps starts playin up (ohh nooo) but lil did i know by the time i was almost at my first mark she was completely dead and was in fish heaven... :(. tryed everything i could to get her back but no luck. it still hasnt sunk in that i am back where i started a fair few years ago. spotless... i thought instead of crying and beating myself blue i would celebrate her death, even gave her a burial. lol so just thought id put up a few pics of the fish she got me (excuse the rude head in pic1) and go get a new one. ( got the hds) now just need to go find all the lumps again. eery feeling starting from scatch again but thats life. just gratefull to have a tub. so if anyone has any spots and cant access a tub just send us a pm and were out the next day the weather gods shine on us. RIP gurtie, fun times...

Furuni FCV627 Where to buy?
Submitted by Ben85 on Mon, 2013-08-26 11:41Hi All- Can anyone recommend a marine shop NOR who is generally competitive and who can also fit marine electronics. I'm after a Furuno 627 and want to get one fitted by the weekend.
Also what would you expect to pay to have only a transducer fitted? I already have the Furuno mount and power cables installed from a previous model.
cheers/Ben
