Submitted by bsir on Fri, 2012-08-31 00:30I am thinking about fitting a stone deflector to the trailer to tow the boat north (or South) after receiving quite a few chips in the boat after the last trip

kayak fish steep point
Submitted by mattyoga on Thu, 2012-08-16 13:11I'm currently getting a crew together and planning a trip to steep point and wanted to know what the best time of year for Macks is and how he weather patterns typically change. I was thinking at the end of March/ beginning of April as hopefully the strong SW will start dying off by then and there will be plenty of macks about. However, from other forum posts it appears that this period has been dead over the last two years.
Any suggestions on timing would be good with respect to:
1. macks and tuna
2. wind and possible rain offs/cyclones
3. shelter form the prevailing winds - looks like there a bit of shelter from a SW in the mouth (from the chop at least) , though is this where the fish hang out?
Cheers
Matt
ps and I know about all the sharks there!

Port Smith
Submitted by oldy on Tue, 2012-07-24 05:38Hi,
Planning a trip to Port Smith in May next year for 12 days. Does anyone know what tides are best to fish there. I have a 4.2 mtr punt is it worth taking or do you reckon there's enough shore based fishing to save dragging the boat a couple 1000 kms.
Any feedback on the place / fishing / weather in May would be appreciated.

Darwin
Submitted by r.gates on Wed, 2012-07-11 21:59Mrs gates and I are heading to Darwin on Friday morning for 8 days of fishing, golfing and generally bumming around at my sister & brother-in-law's place. He's a mad keen fisherman with a new 6.4m boat and lifetime of local knowledge so I'm hanging out to catch some of NT's finest.
Hoping to tick the barra box while I'm up there and I'll post a report or two during the trip if there's any noteworthy catches...I'm assured that we'll certainly catch fish.
Also looking forward to some warmer weather....our maximums are their minimums...forecasting 30C up there at present.
regards
rusty...

Carnarvon Accommodation
Submitted by crasny1 on Tue, 2012-07-10 21:34My son is mad enough to drive to Kcity from Mandurah for a Jam and fish (hope he brings his drums). Doing stints from Mandurah to Gero, and then to Carnarvon, then Kcity.
What is some decent safe accommodation in Carnarvon for him and his lady to overnight up and down (ha ha - got that pun after I wrote it) from Karratha?
Cheers

Only My Second Forum Post
Submitted by Giggsy on Tue, 2012-07-03 22:05Hi Guys,
This is only my second forum post. The first 1 was looking for HELP on some fishing spots out of Dampier. I didnt realise but in our hire boat we were only allowed out 2nm so couldnt get to any of the GPS spots you guys gave me. Not being from around here i had no other spots close by to fish.
The most annoying thing was watching all the locals zoom past us to get to their favoured fishing grounds. It was that bad that i didnt even catch. NOT A SINGLE THING. So to my point. Im looking for a huge favour. Myself and my mate josh are looking for a ride out on a boat. we are looking at any day between the dates 16th to the 20th of july or the 23rd to the 25th.
Josh is a very keen fisherman with his own boat (over east) for over 20 years and im a novice fisherman but with a real love for the ocean and fishing. We will supply as much Squid ( cleaned tubes ) we will even supply chicken ( ive been told this is a pretty good bait up here ) we will supply any lunch you want and pay for fuel or go 3 ways your choice. If you think you can accomodate us please message me we will need 48 hours notice if possible but 24 should be ok we have all our own gear too OH AND MOST OF ALL WE DONT GET SEA SICK please please please if you can take us.
we will go to karratha, dampier and because we are real desperate we would possibly even travel to onslow

October birthday ideas please
Submitted by Rik178m on Fri, 2012-06-15 11:07Hey guys and girls,
Its my 30th bday in October and I want to do something amazing like catching the fish of a lifetime! Problem is I have no idea where to go or what I could catch at that time of year!
Can anyone give me some pointers? It has to be saltwater and put up a good fight! Australia only unless it's really worth a flight.
Thanks

Trip off a life time - Heading your way 2013
Submitted by Brissy boy on Sat, 2012-06-09 03:05Hello Fellow Fisherman - As you can see by the name I am Brisbane based fisherman -
My trouble and strife and the billy lids and me have to decided to drop out off the hustle and bustle of everyday life - Loading up
the van and heading to WA for 6 months - I have always wanted to see the West Coast and next year will be here before we know it.
I searched the net and found this site - Great site I must say - I am a member off Ausfish forum - User name LCC - QLD version of this site.
Unfortunaly I can not hitch the Polycraft to the back of the van. But I will be loading as much fishing gear as I can get away with - The Missus is already
making comments about not enough space for the gear. (could fit the tackle box in front passenger seat)
Anyway the reason for the post is to see if there are any of you WA blokes or Women that may be interested in showing a East coaster
how its done in WA - I have all the gear and am happy enough to chip in for Fuel cost for any skipper - I am a very experienced decky.
Have had boats for 20 years. ( I will do a couple of charters but would prefer to pass on some bucks fellow rec fisher like myself)
Should be in the south of WA around middle of May and will be slowly heading north along the coast to NT.
Will also be doing a fair bit off the beach - Have to buy the gear for this - Any advice in this area would be good - I was thinking
stradic 7000 - with 30 pound braid with a breakable beach rod. Need to feed the family along the way.
Also Happy to return the fishing Experience - Any one form WA want to catch a ride in the Poly in Brisbane feel free to Contact me by PM.
Cheers and happy Fishing
Stephen
