New boat, what to buy
Submitted by bouttime on Wed, 2014-11-26 04:07I am in the market for a new boat and am finding it hard to find anything on the market that ticks all the boxes in WA. New and used. Have been looking for close to 6 months. I had no choice but to sell my Yellowfin 7400 before I left Sydney and Sold my Stabicraft 659SC Jan this year when I found out I could be relocating to Exmouth. Bought the Yellowfin and was intending to bring it over but didnt have the time to drive so had to sell.
I need a boat in the 6-7mtr range, capable off shore and plenty of range, economical, deck space to fish up to 4, plenty of air flow to fish in Exmouth (no enclosed hard tops), easy to tow and launch by one person, preference for a cabin up front for overnight trips.. Prefer under 2T tow weight if I can but not a deal breaker.
I have considered the following boats,
Eden craft 6mtr
Coota craft 21
Surtees 610
Stabicraft 1850 Fronter
Bar crusher 670
Haines Hunter 585r,600r,650r
Prefer to stay away from an imported boat and stick with Aussie or Kiwi built.
Budget is up to $80k for the right boat although would prefer to spend around $50k for a good clean second hand boat. Cant find anything on the west so other option is to get one transported over from the East coast.
If anyone knows of something on the market or comming on the market let me know.
Cheers

english fish and chips
Submitted by fishy fingers on Mon, 2014-11-24 18:24For those of you who live in the Kwinana/ rockingham area and who like fish and chips AND know what the fish of the uk north sea tastes like there is an english fish and chip shop opening in the village at wellard next week, he will be selling cod, haddock hake etc imported from there also the chips will be fresh peeled and hand cut spuds not the frozen crap everybody else uses I believe he will also be selling steak and kidney puddings and those from the north of england will know them, and almost certainly mushy peas! I for 1 cant wait to get some cod in my gob! as for prices as an example I understand cod and chips will be about $15 so maybe just a little more expensive than other places but if the qaulity is there I for one will be willing to pay more I understand the owner is a pommy chef been here about 6 years (he even imprted his fryer from over there) I think he will be selling some aussie fish too.

Movember Cray
Submitted by dumper on Thu, 2014-11-20 09:14Hey guys and girl.
This weekend, a couple of mates and I are running a half marathon from Scarborough beach to the South beach hotel in freo to raise funds and awareness for movember.
Apart from just growing a dodgy mo, funds raised will go towards testicular and prostate cancer research as well as men's depression.
So far our team the Tashed up bogans have nearly raised ten grand for the cause. If you'd like to donate go to

Seeking Employment Opportunities
Submitted by Bruce on Mon, 2014-11-17 20:42Hi Fishwrecked,
Have just graduated year 12 and (have my last exam this Thursday) am now on the lookout for some part time/ casual jobs. The summer holidays are going to be very long and footy will not keep me occupied all day every day, plus I need some funds for future boating plans!
So if anyone knows of any jobs- BCF or anything fishing related (primarily), or checkout chick jobs etc... please let me know! (Have previous work experience also)
Sorry should mention SOR but preferably around Melville/myaree/ east Fremantle etc
Cheers

Lost tinny
Submitted by carnarvonite on Wed, 2014-11-12 14:28Got a call this afternoon from a bloke who has lost a 4 metre tinny off the beach in Massey Bay, just south of the boat harbour here in Carnarvon. Seems they anchored the boat near the beach yesterday afternoon and went to check it this morning and found it missing, seems as though the anchor and rope have parted company leaving the boat to get blown out and away. Touch wood its in the mangroves on the north side of the bay but with low tides and strong southerly winds there is no way I am going to look for it and walking through knee deep mud is out of the question as well.
Its a 4 metre ali, painted white with a 25 Yammie on the back, there is a few rods and bits of gear inside.
