Weigh Bridge

I would like to take my 7.5m boat and trailer over a weigh bridge. The boat is located in Freo. I had a quick Google and White Pages search but can find nothing close by. I found Bulk West (9437 3300)through this forums search app - but no luck with that number yet.

If anyone knows of one it would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Selling a hail damaged write off

What's the deal with selling a hail damaged car that's been written off?

If it's mechanically sound but not too pretty , how much does that effect the asking price.

lets say the average price is 15000 for a fair condition one on car sales.

Stolen HZ ute REWARD OFFERED

Our HZ holden ute was stolen from our work premises over the weekend, it's been our work ute since new

and has sentimental value as it belonged to pop who has sadly passed.

The ute is a HZ kingswood with a 253, ally tray and big steel roof rack, it is baby blue in colour

with a bit of rust here and there. Totally original.

I am offering a $500 reward for any information leading to the recovery of the car, no questions asked.

If you can keep an eye out for it would be greatly appreciated.

sorry it's not fishing related.

Who fixs air conds on roofs

The Latest Project

Well, we finally sold our last boat, the Bertram Bahai Mar 20 to a chap up in Geraldton. Prior to that, we had purchased a shell of a (we believe) ex fisheries boat, a 24' Savage half cabin cruiser.

With the sale, gave us the capital to start renovating the 'Big Bitch' as we have come to affecitionately call it. So began the transformation. First, came off the cabin superstructure.

From this:

To this:

After cleaning up the inside of the hull,

The transom had to be reinforced with ply and glass

And the position of the thru leg of the former inboard had to be filled in

then came the inserting of stringers and bearers, and making sure the boat was as light as possible, foam was used instead of wood for the structural content.

After much consternation, we sourced the power plant from Port Hedland of all places, ending up being a Evinrude Etec 250hp.

The artist in this partnership formed the centre console also made from foamcell and fibreglass, which I personally think looks like a frog. Anybody else think so?

The floor has now been laid after a 450lt fuel tank has been built in below decks with a 150lt water tank up fron where the 2.1m V berth will be located.

The next mission was to remove the gunnells because the wood within them had delaminated. The top was therefore removed,

before the new reinforcing could be installed

Once the topcoat was laid,

The gunnells were put back on the hull after some reshaping of the sides

The only thing preventing further renovations is this lousy weather. More to come.

semi finals

could this weekend be the end for freo or have they got some more to give, cant see the cats or kangas bothering anyone from this weekend on.

iam sorry to say i think port will run freo empty for a 22 point win and the kangas to straight set the cats by 17pts.

i think freo need to call the rain gods and keep ports skill out of the game, good luck knock out comp tippers

either way ill be watching every minute

Jigged Red, how many?

Had a great trip up to Gnaraloo recently. Managed to jig our first red. How many people have caught them on jigs? I have heard a few caught on soft plastics but not many on the jig.

freo tonight

Freo were out played tonight but it didn't help that they were playing the swans + the umpires they couldn't buy a free kick , Why the hell is buddy a protected species ,yes he won a few fee kicks but others were gifted to him . I think the free kick count ended 22 swans 14 freo , I recon the umpires missed at least 6 freo free kicks .
What makes it worse is the frees being paid in the Bombers / kangas game if applied to the Freo game they would have been in front on the free kick count
And I am a Melbourne supporter

just love finals footy

love this time of year no matter who's playing, iam picking hawks, swans, port, and the kangas

ps this will keep the knockout comp page clear for tips and knockout banter

Footy positions

My development coach recons that the footy positions "don't make sense". So he has his own name for them. I'm sure that he didn't think of these on his own but it's really confusing and I have got no idea how it works. If anybody knows the positions that I'm gonna mention, could you please show me how it works?

Examples are like high tall forward HTF, small forward SF etc.

Making the move

Taking the plunge and making the move to Perth since bugging out of there in 1989. It was costing us 16k a year for my son to live at Curtin Uni while he was studying and my daughter was going to be doing the same next year, so we are going from our acreage down here with my 40x30 man cave to renting a 3x2 house on 450 squares in Wellard, so I'll either go stir crazy or I'll chase up a job someplace doing 4&1 or similar. Got hardly any room for my fishing gear, my rods are laying on the floor near the wall in the garage, so it's a matter of time before they get run over, and being a radio guy, I can't erect any antennas. So I guess I might have to take up knitting.

cheers

AFL Finals Knockout Tipping Comp

Chasing a minimum of 10 punters who want to enter into a knockout AFL finals tipping comp.

$5 to enter, payable into my netbank account prior to the bounce of the ball this Friday night. Winner takes all.

Rules:

You must tip one team (one team only) that you think will win in the first round. If your team loses you're out.

Correct tippers move onto round 2.

You cannot tip the same team twice during the comp i.e. if you think Freo will play off in and win the GF you cant tip them in the first 3 rounds.

Strategy and luck is required.

Last punter standing wins the total pot.

If we have multiple tippers still alive in the Grand Final round, we will also include a margin for that game to discern the winner. Closest to the pin will win the prize.

Finals Predictions

Well now every body has had time to let their stiffies droop or eyes dry the question is how do you think the finals will pan out?

Its on the record that I'm a Hawk so of course expect bias in my comments but...

I still think Sydney are the team to beat slightly ahead of us and further in front of the rest...

However!!

It is finals footy and this week will be very interesting...

If Freo beat Sydney that opens up a can of worms as it does if those mongrel Cats get over the line against us...

Thoughts?

Boat Insurance

Just reading the Sept - Oct 2014 Bluewater Boats & Sportfishing magazine and there is an article in there from a guy who rolled his catermaran while doing 100kph travelling home on the road. What is interesting is that he discusses what insurance companies call "agreed value policy & market value policy.

His quote

"Most isnsurance compnies offer the option of 'agreed value' policy. For new boats this figure is usually hard to dispute once both parties have agreed on the value. However, once boats reach a certain age an evaluation from an independant licensed boat dealer is required with each policy renewal in order to ensure the agreed figure is honoured by the company. The maximum age can vary from one insurance company to another, but is usually two years old and over.

I had always thought that the 'market value' meant a reasonable advertised price for a similar boat on the second hand market, but form an insurance perspective this is not the case. Insurance companies only focus on the actual sale price of a second hand boat and this value can be significantly less than what was originally advertised. Such fluctuations in the 'market value' can leave you at the mercy of your insurance company and their assessors, so therefore it really pays to seek an 'agreed value' policy when you insure your boat.

There was a simple explanation for the change in my policy type; i had overlooked the fine print and become complacent about my policy cover. I'd put it in the too hard basket and said that I would get around to it another day. As a result I had neglected to supply current valuations with my insurance renewals for approximately five years. This oversight is why my 'agrred value' policy was no longer valid and had automatically switched over to a'market value' policy."

End quote

It is worth while reading the whole article though it will continue in the Nov - Dec 2014 issue as well. Now some questions for all of you.

How many of us have thoroughly read the small print in our insurance policy and understood what they mean? I for one haven't, but will do so now.

How many of us boat owners go to the trouble of each year going and getting a independant evaluation and providing it to our boat insurers?

How many of us take photos of the additions to the boat, i.e., photos of modifications, electronics etc that show/prove that we are adding value or at least maintaining the boat in an excellent condition? This doesn't mean photos of it on the water! But, could mean before and after photos of repair work done to the gel coat etc.

If fishing gear such as rods & reels are included in your policy do you have detailed photos and receipts of the gear as without these it is very hard to prove ownership etc?

Hayway Marine

As a lot of Fishwrecked members know, Hayway Marine has now shut its doors, however Shane is now mobile and yesterday I had him come and do some electrical work on my boat, he was promp and very efficient, having a Mobile Mechanic who can also work on Electrics for your boat is great and I won't hesistate to use him again, so guys if your looking for a Mobile Mechanic or have other issues with your boat, I highly recommend Shane.
