WA registered car query
Submitted by Paul H on Tue, 2014-07-08 12:23Quick one someone can help me with.
Does WA still have rego stickers on the car?? (we no longer have them in SA)
i.e. could police in SA immediately tell if a WA car was registered or otherwise unreg. without making enquiries (they don't have access to interstate databases)
Cheers

Round 17...
Submitted by lachieH on Mon, 2014-07-07 22:03Seems like there should be some unexpected wins, this week dockers should have an easy win and eagles tough game. The closest match this round I believe will be Collingwood and Essonden. Thoughts?

what is your boat imrovement project this winter?
Submitted by randall df223 on Mon, 2014-07-07 21:12Last year was the replacement and extension of my bimini to provide more shade.
This year, with the opportunity to lash out some money on a quality sounder / plotter (for a significant birthday and half decent cricket score) I thought it a good time to upgrade some other electronic stuff on the boat. I have upgraded the 27 mg radio antenna. I have bought and installed a dash mounted am/fm radio that I can stream the music on my phone through and some cheap speakers. I spent a day in the rain yesterday relocating the am/fm antenna up onto the rocket launcher. thanks to the FW member who made up the alloy mounting plate. you know who you are. next is the addition of a new dash mounted vhf radio (inc antenna and mount). that's the comms sorted.
I am in the process of mounting my (poor man's) go pro in the middle of the bimini and running the cable so I can continuously record onto a 32 gb card.
then in September I will be replacing the cheapo furuno greyscale sounder and the very basic etrex handheld gps with a top of the wozzer simrad nss7 sounder / plotter combo...
then i'll be keen to get out and find some fish.
what projects have you got planned for these cold wet and sometimes wild days?

Fish trapping for Snapper
Submitted by carnarvonite on Mon, 2014-07-07 14:18Heard a rumour from a good source that fisheries are considering allowing the wetliners with snapper concessions to go trapping pink snapper again.
When it was first introduced many years ago it was open slather, with heaps of boats filling up each trip out. Now there is a limited number of vessels and a total tonnage for each year, once a boat has reached its limit they have to stop fishing. Trapping will also lessen the number of fish taken by sharks as they are reeled in and with narrow gaps on the traps preventing them getting inside and enjoying a free feed.

Worth a try... Carpentry Apprenticeship
Submitted by Belly88 on Sun, 2014-07-06 21:42Hi all.
For those of you who dont know me, my name is Daniel Bell (Belly) Im 26, a MAD keen fisherman and for the last 3.5 years I have worked as a Crayfisherman out of Two Rocks.
About 6 months ago my girlfriend and I decided we would do some travelling, unfortuneately for me this ment I had to quit my job and my role was quickly filled by someone else.
Now I am back and looking for work Im hopeing to start an apprenticeship in Carpentry, to get a trade behind me and expand my knowledge and love for woodworking. I have around 3 years experience in fixing and formwork carpentry, although stupid me I never started an apprenticeship at the time. I believe I would be a great asset to someone looking for an apprentice as im very handy on the tools and also an extremely reliable hard worker. Even more so now that I have travelled and Im 100% focused on bettering myself and completeing this apprentiship. I also have a number of tickets including White card, EWP, Forklift, Scaffolding, Dogging, Personal and Material Hoist and will pass all drug/alcohol and fitness tests if needed.
I live in Ocean Reef, I have a current drivers licence and my own transport. Ideally I would like to work North of the river but at this stage im open to any offers.
Ok so now the reason I have posted this here.... Firstly Im not lazy or trying for the easy way out by asking on this site. I am but well aware that Im going to be dropping pay quite cosiderably so Im hopeing that I could atleast find someone who has a common interest in fishing, so along with learning the trade I can make a new fishing buddy and have some good times along the way.
So heres hope that there is a fellow fishing nut that needs a reliable experieced person to take on as an apprentice. Of course I will also be looking outside of this website but I thought this would also be worth a try.
Cheers heaps for reading. My number is 0419 0414 83 if you could possibly help Im sure you will be extremely happy with your choice in having me as an employee.

Tow Vehicle Recommendations (3.5 tonnes)?
Submitted by DunkerT on Tue, 2014-07-01 11:26Hey all,
I was wondering what tow vehicles people would recommend? I've got a 1972 Frazer with a 200 Envinrude outboard on the back, when I bought it the chap told me that I needed 3.5 tonnes towing capacity for it. The trailer has electro hydraulic braking.
I'd like something that I can use to tow the boat around but also use for weekends away, and hitting the 4x4 tracks. I'm considering the obvious options (Patrols, Landcruisers, Pajeros) but would certainly appreciate your advice on other options or which models to go for/avoid!
My budget is max $8,000.
Thanks!

My Tax
Submitted by Dale on Tue, 2014-07-01 10:56Been trying to do my tax via this new system MyTax where you do it on line, not like Etax of years past where you just downloaded the program. All the ATO's systems are crashing this morning. You'd think if they were going to introduce something and encourage everyone to use it, they'd provide something that could handle the load.
pissed off

Round 16 Percentagefest
Submitted by Dale on Mon, 2014-06-30 12:26I know, it's only Monday and the dust has hardly settled from Round 15, but this is where the top 5 will try and get there percentage up somewhat.
North Melbourne V Hawthorn
Melbourne V Fremantle
Port v Essendon
Geelong V Doggies.
Sydney V West Coast.
And then we have Gold Coast V Collingwood, but you'll have to travel boys, remember that? That's when you hop on a plane and go somewhere, and not like on holidays, you have to work, and you might well get done by them guys up there.
Woooo Hoooo, bring it on.
Cheers

Baitcaster build.
Submitted by southcity104 on Sun, 2014-06-29 14:20In the foul weather of late I've been enjoying a few projects. This is a 6kg baitcaster I had built for the kids as there getting ready for some inshore fishing for snapper, Skippy, ect.. Dave whitnell supplied the blank and built it , guides and seat were from anglers workshop USA.
Blank was a 6', 6 kg United composites.
Guides were Pac bay ti minima's x 8 and top.
Fuji reel seat.
Was also looking at reels and the ryogas/ Calcutta's were pulling my retail strings but in the midst of a shed clean out I found my old 15year+ Abu 5500c pro shop. After a clean up it looked and felt great, fitted some carbon drag washers, 200 meters of braid and it's back in action again.
All up was around $280
Anyways here's some pics

Taylor Marine
Submitted by sea-kem on Sat, 2014-06-28 12:28I read something in the paper today that should have all of us worried in our free thinking democracy. That Taylor marine has been subject to threats and intimidation over their supply of hooks and tackle for the government's shark program. I'm ambivilent to the whole issue but what really worries me is that there's is an element out there that is impeding the right of that business to to do business.
The police should be called in to investigate this whole thing urgently like they did in response to the bikie threats and intimidation recently of a Northbridge business, it's the same thing basically. If I was Taylor marine I would have stood tall but I guess we don't know to what level these feral scumbags are taking their threats. Physical harm?? So that would make them hypocritical to their own cause. Who do these heroes think they are, the ecological mafia. Another ounce of credibility gone you morons.

Another motorcyclist killed
Submitted by Dale on Tue, 2014-06-24 18:53Another bike rider has been killed this afternoon just north of Busso, heard 6 or 7 sirens screaming out of town around 5 o'clock. Don't know the details but please everyone, keep an eye out for bike riders, they are so easily missed sometimes and they rarely get up and walk away from any bingle.
Cheers
