Prelims - Road to the Grandy
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Tue, 2018-09-18 09:26Righto. After being measured in my assessment of West Coast’s premiership credentials all season and when you’re one win away from the big dance it’s time to just pin the ears back and dare to dream.

Bedford murders
Submitted by timboon on Wed, 2018-09-12 09:24I'm certainly not trying to be insensitive here and my thoughts certainly go out to friends and family in what can only be described as a totally messed up tragedy however.....
I find there are double standards when these things go on,
Anytime a firearm is used the anti gun fraternity are quick to jump on it and blame the gun, i've been trying to find out how this family was murdered and it seems like a knife/knives and a blunt object has been seized by Police....
On another topic, did anybody see the hit on that bikie in Canberra that was caught on cctv the other day?
3 carrying pistols and 1 carrying a shotgun, there was a shoot out before they doused the place and set it alight....
I wonder how many of those guys were law abiding and had their firearms registered and went through the proper channels like we have to?
We all know the answer to that however it always seems to come back the law abiding folk that the spotlight gets turned on....

Cygnet bay pearls.
Submitted by letsgofishing on Mon, 2018-09-10 15:22G'day all.
myself and two other families are planning to travel to cygnet bay pearls next year.
Has anyone had any experience up there with regards to launching boats. The road in from Broome can be good or bad depending on a lot of things, that doesn't faze me as I will do some modifications to suit .
To be specific I am wondering if it is possible to launch a 6+ mtr ally. I intend to ring the research station up there and ask as that is where the launch area is I believe.
I know it is a beach launch and from what I can see on google maps it is shallow for a bit. This would mean a wet car. Not ideal but if it gets us on good ground why not. Taking the boat isn't a deal breaker but if we are going that far I would like to as it's not every year I would get up that way.
Anyway thanks for any advice you can offer. I have tried the search bar but it will not function on this device for some reason.
Cheers Brendan.

Golden Retriever Breeders
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Sat, 2018-09-08 12:23Anyone here bought a Goldie recently and can recommend a good accredited breeder? My boy came from Dancing Gate and it looks like old Joy has chucked it in or passed on and been reading some horror stories from her kennel and counting myself lucky and want to background research breeders a bit better.

Venting a dislike
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Fri, 2018-09-07 10:25I know its not fishing related .
Dont know how others feel but doing delivery to a place today and while waiting for a signature the guy behind the counter was serving customers while chewing gum like a cow chews its cud. Might just be me but its one thing chewing gum while serving someone but this discusted me.

Fremantle FC
Submitted by timboon on Tue, 2018-09-04 20:52Plenty has been said on here about the woes of the FFC but i thought i'd try and spark a serious ( we'll see how long that lasts around here ) convo about the Dockers and where they are at etc etc.....
All the bad press seems to be about Freo, I guess Ross being at the helm for a few years now adds to that but they were never going to go very well this year....
If you look at the clubs below them on the ladder i dont see why there is so much heat on Freo....
Carlton won 2 games, their worst year in about 450 years
GC - They are proper fucked, they'll lose their best player and co capt this year and potentially their other capt next year - This is a big big problem for the comp and the AFL
St Kilda - WOW!! What a flop, they had less poke than Homers old man in the old folks home in Springfield.... Total failure, most had them playing finals - The good news for them is they have poached ( yes yet another Hawthorn ass coach ) in Brett Ratten so he might help Richardson save his job next year.
Bris - Apparently they had a stella year????? Yep sure Fagan has them playing a good brand and being in most games but they still won 3 less games than the dockers!!
Freo and Dogs finished with 8 wins.... The Dogs seemed to find something in the second half of the year and with a good couple of trades could be in the hunt again, still a quality young list with a good dude coaching them...
So back to Freo, I give them a pass for the season gone except for a few issues.
Ross bringing heat on himself and the club with whatever happened & the loss to Geelong was a big skid mark in their already semi soiled undies....
Going to be an interesting little period for Freo!!

Sea Rescue Call Out
Submitted by carnarvonite on Sun, 2018-09-02 22:28Got a call out for sea rescue today, boat overheating and broken down at Darwin reef, wasn't too bad when we started off but wind came up to make it a real prick of a trip. Left at 3 and didn't get off the rescue boat till 10.
800 litres of fuel used to tow a former rescue boat off one of the oil rigs so not a cheap exercise, to make it worse for them, they didn't catch a fish

Outfished again
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sun, 2018-09-02 20:31Went out again today as im heading bush again tomorrow so another day was planned to go out.
Certainly wasnt what was forecast with the winds. It was quite sloppy out there but still fishable. There was plenty of fish showing on the sounder but nothing was interested apart from a few. Sandy got bitten of by something big thinking it was a big dhuie from the way it faught.
All i got was a couple of well undersize pinks a couple of scorpionfish and kept 1 small but legal blackass. Sandy pulled in a few small pinks and nailed 3 nice kgs.
It was a hard day out there but better than not getting out at all .
no fish very quiet
Submitted by petermac on Sun, 2018-09-02 15:07recon i did 80km on the water today , bugger all fish , funny sort of day big tide , moon still visible at 8am , speaking with other blokes at the ramp (bent st) they had the same bugger all fish

Just another day
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sat, 2018-09-01 19:07Started the day with the alarm going off at 6 but still didnt get on the water until nearly 8 gentlemans hour.
Headedout to a spot we have only fished 1 other time 22nm out but still only 40 mtrs deep. Set the drift and it didnt take long for me to hook up with a first for mandurah, a nice red (there is dinner sorted) then along came a dhuie for me as well . At this stage Sandy hadnt even had a bite. That changed on the next drift, up came a dhuie for her then another (that was released at just size). Went quiet for a bit with only a few pickers. Changed location a bit the Sandy got a nice size skippy and not long after a legal size pinkie.
We had our demersal quota so headed into our fave kg spot. I managed to nail 3 nice kgs and a reasonable flattie and Sandy got just a small but legal flattie. Thats the perants sorted with skippy and flatties.
On the last drift and about to call it a day.Sandys rod buckled over and after more of a tug of war rather than a fight up came the biggest port jackson i have ever seen.
All in all was a great day out with fish all round and cruised in on 26knots.

Finals
Submitted by sea-kem on Fri, 2018-08-31 11:28This bye week is bloody killing me, I'm fanging for some finals footy.
Anyway Eagles too strong for a depleted cold pies
I reckon the Hawks just might get over the Tigers, thye've seemed to be losing their mojo a little the last couple of weeks, but it will be tight.
Sydney over GWS
and Hmmmm Melb Geelong this will be another tight one but I reckon Melbourne with current form.

Finally !!!!
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sun, 2018-08-26 19:51Well after almost 2 months without getting the boat wet other than the rain.
We finally got out and what a day. Couldnt have ordered a better day. Just enough wind to drift without the sea anchor and very littlr current which made it easy to get the drifts set up right concidering a pro had hammered our grounds we fish with pots.
Only prob i had was getting totally outfished by Sandy. First 3 drifts resulted in a dhuie and 2 blackass. Then it went quiet for a while . A few big bustoffs later Sandy nailed a nice gummy. Unfortunately she was carrying a litter of pups which we didnt realise until i cut her open. A positive side was all 14 pups were well developed and i would guess were ready to be bought into the world. All of them swam off really well.
After 1 more blackass again nailed by Sandy we moved into our kg spot where i finally got my first keeper that went just under a kilo on the lie detector. In the end i got 3 kgs and 1 king wrasse for my mum. Sandy got the rest . Oh well better luck next time.
All up it was great to get out on the briney for a change.
