Not Fishing - Money
Submitted by Madmerv on Sun, 2017-11-26 18:09G'day guys
I've been out of work from my usual job (mining industry) for a couple of years now and have been making a living in any job i can since then.
I have just been offered a job as a manager of a commercial kitchen and i would really like to get this job. They have asked what i expect in wages and to be honest i really have no idea what is reasonable for a full time town job as a manager.
Obvously i would like to get as much as possible but dont want to scare them off with a figure that is way out of the ball park.
Please PM me if you want to keep figures personal or post up any links to sites that have wages info.
Thanks.

Non-fishing related - Architect costs
Submitted by Darren253 on Fri, 2017-11-24 09:51Folks,
We are at the beginning of a house renovation to a 1990’s 3x1 that we are ultimately looking to convert to a 4x3 + study with additions to both sides of the property. We will also be removing some internal walls so need engineering done to replace/install some loadbearing beams.
I’ve met with an architect who has come up with some great ideas, and he is quoting me $6k to complete the job including drafting, certified engineering, planning submission and energy rating.
I initially budgeted $4k for the basic drafting but the project has grown legs since then with some major roofing changes.
I have no idea if that sounds about right? Any feedback or experience shared would be appreciated…

Jigs on domestic flights
Submitted by Jody on Sun, 2017-11-19 08:12Has anyone tried / had issues taking unrigged jigs as part of their carry-on luggage?
Hard to tell from this link ... http://travelsecure.infrastructure.gov.au/onboard/what-i-cannot-take-onboard.aspx
They are not sharp and not long enough to be a weapon, but don't want to lose them, has anyone had any experiences?
Checked bags are already chockers ;)

Bye Bye Ty
Submitted by timboon on Fri, 2017-11-17 08:58TY THE BOOM RECRUIT......
Well you fucking tosser Ty.......
You are the softy that i always thought you were ( even though once the Hawks picked him up i thought it must have been some sort of master stroke and Clarko knew something the rest of us didnt )....
Why the fuck should the Hawks have to include his salary for the upcoming season if we are now down to 43 on the list with him retiring?
Thats bollocks IMO and i'm not just saying that because its my team, its simply unfair....
Anyway i suspect Ty knew that yes vote would get up and he's running off to marry his long time lover Jakey Boy King.........
On another note - NO Gibbs no Docherty no Carlton???
Thats gotta be a pretty massive blow to the improvong Blues

i know its superstition but i believe in it . like bananas on a boat or releasing your first fish caught on your new boat

Tyre opinions
Submitted by sea-kem on Sun, 2017-11-05 18:46 So the Ranger goes in for a lift kit on Wednesday (Thanks Colin for your help and Corey's advice)
Once that's done I'll be getting new tyres fitted. I'm looking at BF Goodrich all terrain or Cooper St maxx If anyone runs these let me know your thoughts and opinions. I don't want them too aggressive as I'll do more road than off road driving. Offroad will be beach launching and the dreaded Gnaraloo track once a year. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Best VHF radio and set up advice?
Submitted by Quobbarockhopper on Sun, 2017-11-05 10:06Hey all
time to replace the VHF as the current model is old and getting a bit unreliable.
Any recommendations on the best/ most powerful model available at present? I do a fair bit of long range/ far offshore fishing and know that a lot of getting the best range will be depend on Set up type/ Ariel length etc, but I’m a bit of an elec type stuff numpty, so any recommendations both the unit and best ways to get the best reception range etc out of both the set up and components would be greatly appreciated
my current unit is an old GME so was looking at the GX700W so I could use most of the same connections/ running gear, but am happy to go a different brand and work backwards from there. Is this the best/ strongest GME there is and is there any other better/ stronger brands/ models out there?
price not really an issue unless it’s a crazy stupid difference from the GX700W.
woukd really appreciate people’s ideas/ suggestions
cheers

I have a DJI Phantom 3 standard and can't get the remote to pair with drone or do firmware update .
Not sure if the drone or remote has the issue so if someone has the same unit I would like to try pairing my remote to there drone or other way round to try eliminating the suspect part . Remote control is new but drone bought second hand without remote so don't know history.

Western Warriors 2017/18
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Sun, 2017-10-29 15:16JL has built some kind of squad and surely we are destined to reap the rewards of developing a squad through local players if not this season but over the next decade.
Just when you thought our bowling stocks couldn't get any better this Kelly also pops up. It''ll be a nice headache for JL to have once Paris is fit and Dorf is allowed to play.
The boys are in their way to crushing Tas with NCN showing he is worthy of a Baggy Green if required.

Multiple ski ropes
Submitted by bsir on Sat, 2017-10-28 05:54So this isn't fishing related (unless I put a few hooks into some ski biscuits) but I want to know the best way to tow 2 ski biscuits.
Do you use 2 bridles and 2 ropes, or 2 ropes connected to a single bridle?
thanks

Sick of this
Submitted by sea-kem on Fri, 2017-10-27 06:47Just needed to vent, accidently left my car unlocked on the night thieving, shitheeled, scumbag C$%^ts were on the prowl. They took my batt operated and hammer drill from back seat and my fucking workshop and truck keys in my console. I'm absolutely spewing about the keys as the truck keys cost around $400 to replace. Not sure how I'm going to go insurance wise but will check. Thank fuck I have a spare set or I wouldn't have been able to get into my workshop today. I noticed they got into the neighbour's car as well and will have a chat with them later. Have reported to police in the hope that they chuck the keys and someone finds them. These fucks are everywhere thesedays and you let your guard down for a second and they pounce.
