Little girl taken

Don't know about the  rest of you but my heart is breaking with this, probably hits home with quite a few of us who fish that area yearly.

Knowing the country up there as being god's own country but evil has hit.

I'm hoping beyond hope this pond scum is caught but each day the light fades for this little angel.

Hope the reward today tempts someone to give that tiny clue to crack open the case and maybe a miracle.

This world  really is fucked  sometimes.

At it again . Eating well

Quick 2 hour session ended with a great feed again.

Any trimmers / fabric gurus on here?

I have a trim question
the interior sides of my boat cabin is lined with a foam backed (~3mm) fabric (i assume the foam was glued to the fabric and then the fabric/foam glued to the hull.
The fabric is in good condition but is dark grey and i want to change to white marine vinyl which will lighten up the cabin a lot.
If i remove the existing fabric/foam it will leave a huge amount of glue/foam residue which will need removing before i can attempt to stick the vinyl back.

My question is - can is stick the marine vinyl directly to the existing fabric? - if so what should i use in terms of glues?

cheers!

Another feed for now and later

Wasn't much on the cheek today other than whiting . Luckily I like to catch and eat them

Couple from an early morning session

Went down as the sun was rising. Not many whiting about as the tides weren't the best but got a few for live bait. Ended up with 2 x 4 foot shovels one of which was taken on the Shakespeare 080 and 60 year old glass rod. Also nailed my first fish on a soft plastic.

Back into the whiting

Had a couple of hours to spare today so took advantage of it to get a feed. Managed my limit in about 1 and half hours. Not monsters but got a few good feeds

What's your oldest gear being used

Just back to hedland and took up a 11' glass beach rod that I was given 36 years ago and was told by the old guy that had it that it has been sitting under the house for 20 years and only used it for a few years, that makes it nearly 60 years old or maybe older. Pairing it up with a sigma Shakespeare 080 that I bought for $125 new 35 years ago and is still going strong.

What old relics are you still using

Airborne boat

Wouldn't want to be on this one on the landing

Alternative News sites.

Fishwrecked,  please let me know of some news websites you use.

I use news.com.au and bbc.  I can see through there agendas and thinly veiled ads for tiktok and McDonald etc, that's fine everyone has to make a buck.  Just want to see what else is useful.

Justifying a boat

A guy once said to me you shouldn't have to justify buying a boat. That said it is hard not to do that.

Thinking of getting a boat built and budgeting around 100K have had boats for near on 50 years.

So I could spend the 100K on a boat or I could buy a new Mustang and use the remaining money for charter fishing or buying fish and chips?

I don't need a 4x4, don't have to maintain a boat and 4x4, don't have to buy fishing license, fishing gear and in most cases the deckies clean your catch. Don't have to line up at the ramps or build a shed / roof for the boat.

Anyway all that said will still order a new boat not big on Mustangs anyway.

Pop corns on.

Gotta laugh when flying

Makes me laugh . When your boarding the plane your remind e d about social distancing but in your seats you feel like a sardine in a tin can .

Mr J Biden

Hows the report card going so far?

Merc 600

Saw Merc have released a V12 600 horses OB!!

Pretty interesting independent steering on the gearbox...

Any change from $60k you reckon?

Fishing charter trip off gero

Headed up to gero for our 21 anniversary and went out on offshore charters. only 8 on the boat.  Wasn't too many fish caught but the conditions weren't the best. Got a couple of keepers and put several back hoping for bigger fish but the wind came up and the fish went on the bite. Ended up pulling 2 Cray pots with 42 keepers in them so we got a feed of them as well

Other Hobbies

Lol , this is just a chance for me to have a brag non fish related. Ive been playing harmonica for quite a few years now and about 5 yrs ago joined the SW Blues Club for a laugh. Well last year i got asked to play in a band, never done it before ,never dreamed of doing it actually. So after much practice a few birthday parties, a few pub gigs etc . Our band Smokin Joe has been asked to play a set at this years Bridgetown Blues Fest , pretty stoked and just a bit nervous , but hey bring it on.

Anyone out in Fishwrecked world in a band or have performed on stage , what do you play , how long have you played etc. Its a great feeling and probably the reason i havent been out fishing as much in the last 12 to 18 months lol.

Shore Catch is Now Stocking Fresh and Frozen Seafood

After building the required infrastructure and gaining a Food Business Registration from the City of Wanneroo, Shore Catch is now stocking food grade fresh and frozen seafood.

After many years in the seafood industry sourcing the highest quality baits, we are now converting that quality into food grade products for our customers.  All of our products will be Australian (Western Australian where possible), sourced from carefully selected suppliers/fishermen and packaged/stored so the products are of the best quality available.

We will sell fresh fish fillets of a range of local species that are portioned between 200g and 500g, vacuum sealed and stored at zero degrees in refrigerated ice slurry.  We know where and when the fish were caught so as to ensure that best by dates are known accurately, and quality is controlled.

Current fresh fish fillet offerings are Red Emperor (Broome WA - $77.50/kg), Goldband Snapper (Exmouth WA - $62.50/kg), Rankin Cod (Broome WA - $60/kg), Barramundi (farmed Humpty Doo NT - $45/kg) and Atlantic Salmon (farmed Tasmania - $35 to $45/kg depending on cut).  We intend to also stock fresh fillets of WA dhufish, whiting, baldchin, pink snapper and shark when available.  A photo of the packaged red, rankin and goldband is below.

We will still sell whole fresh baitfish (head on gut in), as we have done for many years, and these species are generally mullet, scalies, mulies, whiting, herring and garfish.  All of these fish are also food grade standard and can be eaten if desired.

Other seafood products we will stock frozen, or fresh when available, are local octopus (200g, 500g, 1kg, and whole mixed weight), WA prawns (XL King, XL Tiger, Tiger cutlets, banana meat), Australian scallops (roe on, roe off and in shell), Shark Bay blue swimmer crab meat, Tasmanian squid tubes (Australian squid so can be used safely as bait) and WA rock lobster from Cervantes.  We will also offer our customers the ability to source fish of their choice by order - just contact us to discuss.

We aim to provide an unparalleled quality of fresh seafood products at a fair price.

Boat Wreck

Heard a great bang and scraping out front of son's place in Exmouth. All rushed outside thinking something had collected all our cars parked  out front and found a big ally on it's side about 50 metres up the road. They had clipped the kerb  gone across the road and hit the kerb again tipping the boat off the trailer and dragging it up the bitumen.

Pulled the trailer away from the boat and many hands pushed it back on to its bottom, then came the hard part with too many chiefs and no indians having too manyideas on what to do. Kangaroo jacks to get the bow up, rollers underneath, big stands to support the boat when the back end was lifted as they winched the trailer underneath. Finally someone's 4x4 winch and a snatch block to get it on properly.

Bit of entertainment and one taken away in the paddy wagon  for a test by the local coppers.

Lot of damage done to the boat that isn't going to buff out

Artistry in wood

How is this for brilliant work

Gunnel rubber fittings

Hi does anyone know what these are called and if you can still buy them and where.

Recovered boat

Anyone know what happened to the boat recovered off rockingham today?

Exmouth trip out

Took a run out yesterday with son Jeff and grandson Alex, had a bit of fun with the ruby snapper, finished up with 2 rubies and a couple of other fish plus a small thickskin we decided to keep before moving in closer to try for some gold bands, 2 drifts later and we were on our way home.

Gave it a try again today [Sunday] for nothing, fish showing on sounder but refusing to bite plus Missus came out with us for her first ever trip out deep, got a wee bit sea sick so it was decided to give it away early. Spoke to 3-4 other crews at the ramp and all had same thing, seeing fish but they were not biting

Adventures in flat packing. Joke

Thought I would give a quick run down for the young fellas, old heads will know what I'm talking about.

So the wife insists on buying Ikea flat pack rubbish and says hey can you just pop that together, grrr

Step one. Take 2 of your strongest valium type medications

Say a little prayer

Don't drink 2 bottles of wine like usual

Tell the wife to go away and leave you alone

Get your 10 year old son to help, much better

Follow the instructions, who knew hey just because you can build a kayak out of a sheet of plywood and fibreglass these devious flat packs will catch you out.

Complete said flat pack without swearing and don't actually have to take it apart 3 times.

Avoid divorce, now drink a bottle of wine and enjoy still talking to your wife.

Haha just a laugh, but you know what I mean.

Cheers.

Monster # 2 for the day

Another damn hard fight close to 45 minutes on this one. Damn thing wore me out

Another monster

Solo fishing again at the bank . Hadn't been able to get any livies so out with a dead gardie.  No one else around so had to get a pic with my 12' beach rod to get a size, this one about 6' but still a good half hour fight but had fun getting it up on the beach on my own

Grand Final Tickets

Missed out on Grand Final tickets like the majority of Perth

Was on ticketmaster refreshing every couple of minutes until the "Join Queue" sign popped up. Joined the queue as soon as it popped up and when the tickets came on sale I was still 12,000 in line. Must have been hundreds of thousands of people doing the same thing. A mate went on right at 10:00 and he was 154,000 in the queue so he just gave up/ After 10 minutes of waiting tried getting tickets, nothing.

Good for WA's economy, would have loved to have gone!!

Anyone selling any let me know hahaha!!

Trailer replacement

I know many on here have gone down this road already replacing the trailer under their pride and joy.

With so many to choose from either good or bad . I am looking at replacing the rust bucket under the dominator . Could someone recommend a good one for the job preferably down mandurah way. The tub is 18ft 6" and currently sitting on one rated to 2 tonne

Battle to the end

With a fairly uneventful days fishing after loosing a decent size shark at around 12 and with a feed of whiting in the esky . I was thinking of packing up for the day as there was no live bait left only some old thawed out gardies . Threw one out with the hook through the nose for the he'll of it . Nothing touched it for about half hour so thinking the crabs had got it . Wound the line in to find the guts missing and T hats it. Threw it back out not expecting much.  10 minuit later my rod went nuts and with a good half hour fight a monster of a shovel nose broke the surface . Was between 6 and 7 foot long but I estimate it to be over the 100 kg Mark as it's a solid beast . Couldn't lift it too high .

Tasty treats

Not much else on the cheek today . Lost a big something assuming it was a decent size shark but at least I am going to have a few good feeds with this lot
