General discussion within general discussion
Submitted by timboon on Thu, 2020-10-08 14:53Well there have been a few heavy hitters on this site throwing their weight around with concerns blokes are talking about general discussion in the general discussion section... Sounds strange I know but is it time we listened to these big dogs...
Seems like its too offensive for grown men ( and a few little puppys ) to have any other discussions on a WESTERN AUSTRALIAN FISHIN FORUM SITE other than fishing...
I'm probably a serial offender for enjoying the banter the general discussion has on this site but we can't ignore the heavy hitters any longer...
So Adam.... She might have to go....
I hope i've posted this in the right section...

Share trading
Submitted by sea-kem on Thu, 2020-10-08 07:24While I can't won't go fishing until the beach returns where I launch have been playing with the share market to keep me entertained. Anyone else dabbling at the moment? It's been an interesting year to say the least.
The penny stocks have been fun and have made some tidy $ from the likes of BRN and STX
Now on ARR at 13c and after a presidential decree looks like they are heading up fingers FCKN crossed lol.

Things we have to do, call out
Submitted by carnarvonite on Tue, 2020-10-06 15:04Got a phone call at the roadhouse at 0600, couple of tourists had come across a roo that had a broken leg and was still alive a couple of km down the road and wanted to know if I could call a ranger to put it down.
Shaking my head, ask if they have wheel spanner they can give it a crack with, oh no, can't do that, so got hornet out and went for a quick drive.
Pulled up, put bolt and mag in rifle and from about a foot from behind head fired shot, of course at that range half of head is going to disappear and it certainly did. Looked like European tourists who had never been bush before were about to both faint. Unloaded gun hopped in car and back to work. Time I did a U turn they were both herking their breakfast up, one has to be careful what you ask for these days because the man from Wolf Creek might still be around!

Today's results
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sun, 2020-10-04 16:53Got a nice bag of fish today and lost something huge that bit through 80lb wire trace (no need to guess) after a 15 minuit fight.
Couple of firsts . One being a wolf herring which guys on here identified for me and first time trying a lure for whiting and managed just the 1 with it .
All up better than sitting in front of the tv all day. Wind was a pain tho at times pushing gusts to around 50k

Boat Wrapping
Submitted by Baldrick65 on Tue, 2020-09-29 16:23Afternoon team,
Quick request for an opinion/comment.
Current logo's faded and cracking. Having a metallic content it's time to get it renewed before it affects the hull with spotting.
Looking at options for wrapping in a 3M Metallic Anthracite (Hull) with Black Camo (Cabin and rego number).
Also changing the name to War-Shep (logo will be in the shilloutte of a battleship (top down view)), as I bought the boat from my Uncle so I want to retain the Shep name and incorporate the first three letters of my surname and redoing the Searider logo.
Considering full hull wrap or just replacing existing, although a tad larger to cover the old one.
Has anyone wrapped their boat in this colour or similar?
Is the wrap durable (have fenders and aware of fuel spillage)?
Many thanks and appreciate any opinion/comments.
VKR
Brett
Good feed
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Tue, 2020-09-29 15:17After several days of southerly winds and dirty water it came good today so with a few hours down time the rods went in the truck and off I went. Got to the beach 1 hour before high tide and the whiting were on the feed. 2 hours later they were still biting but had my limit with a couple of huge ones amongst them . Ended up with 4 nice packs of fillets to take home

Casual Hours Opportunity
Submitted by Spicey on Fri, 2020-09-25 08:48Hi Guys,
Just thought I would put it out there if you know of anyone wanting a few days work over the next couple of weeks with a possibility of more in the lead up to Christmas. The business that I work for is looking for someone to start with a few days next week and more in the future. The work is warehouse based in Jandakot and would require a valid fork ticket with some manual labour.
Hoping that this might help some one out.
PM me for further details
Cheers Nathan

Seeking bit of info getting Medium Rigid ( MR ) licence
Submitted by Happy Hooker on Thu, 2020-09-24 08:17Hi All
Just seeing if anyone has sat their MR lic and whats involved in the actual practical driving test recently .
Son is 19 needs to go for it to secure F/T permanent position doing deliveries.
He was deckie on the Sealink Rotto Ferry however that closed up when Covid hit . As he was a casual at SL and being there for only 6mths he couldnt get any jobseeker/keeper/youth allowance so he he is wanting some stability with permanent work while he tries to get his hours for coxswain as he finished up his studies - Cert 2 in Maritime Operations just before starting there.
He has been doing anything and everything he can get work wise eg: he did a few stints at Kalbarri on mates farm running quad bike tours and general farm work and at moment working casual with a builder a few days a week but thats finishing up and a few days packing frozen berries in a wharehouse.
Has had his C for over 2 years manual and has checked out the DOT website for all the tests and process so all good with that aspect.
Really trying to work out does he need to fork out for some formal lessons or not beforehand with a driving instructor and what the driving test entails. Am guessing he will just to have access to a vehicle to do the test but seeking any info anyone might have about it.
Appreciate any help
Cheers

School Holidays
Submitted by carnarvonite on Fri, 2020-09-18 19:04For those planning to head north during school holidays and driving at night, watch out for roos north of Overlander roadhouse for the next 40-50km, specially round the Carbla station turn off.
Drove through there a fortnight back and saw heaps around 4 in the morning and no doubt will be keeping a close eye out on the 24th when I drive down to Perth for pre admission check up and back the next day
Been very few sightings up our way at Wooramel but that may change now that the lovely green cover in the paddocks, we had is starting to dry off
Tinnie Windscreen
Submitted by a_acko on Fri, 2020-09-18 18:03
G'day,
I would like to put a windscreen on my Grandfathers old tinnie.
I'd could do it myself but I dont know where to get the gear for it. So any advice on how/where to DYI would be appreciated or a place who could do it North of river would also be good.
Thanks

2018/2019 SR Hilux
Submitted by Swompa on Thu, 2020-09-17 06:35Morning All,
Well the time has come for me to move the 2010 Navara onto a new home. It has been a good car for us and has always gotten us home. I am the second owner and have put 145,000km on it in 8 years towing the van to Exmouth and Esperance along with a few places between.
When I got the Navara, I wanted a Hilux but couldnt afford one. Now I still cannot afford one though it will be the car we get so I am chasing any feedback on how they genuinely go with a bit of weight behind them? My boat is around a ton and my caravan is around 1.8.
If anyone is in the process of offloading an Auto SR 4WD with less than 50,000km within the next month, please hit me up.
Cheers,
Paul

Footy season
Submitted by timboon on Mon, 2020-09-07 08:10Well she's starting to get to the pointy end...
Big game coming up this week with Richmond V Geelong...
Could very well be the game that sets up the top 4...
Danger game for the Eagles this week against the Saints, a game they should win...
Port all but locked into top two and in my opinion the team to beat...
Geelong are flying and one more win will secure top 4 same for the Lions ( unless the Eagles have two big wins )
Richmond can't go to sleep now otherwise the Eagles could relegate them to 5th and a straight sets exit would go down like a lead balloon...
Melbourne still have a glimmer of hope, It looks like they are the only team outside the 8 that could steal a T8 finish...
Collingwoods draw against Richmond could be very handy to slot them inside the 8....
