Boat Covers
Submitted by Shane O on Sat, 2012-02-11 20:37Just wondering the best way to measure a boat for a cover, also is there different covers for cabin cruisers with a windscreen on top?
Also are they cheaper to buy from the USA, and what would be the best website for this?

Lovely start to the day
Submitted by greatrex on Sat, 2012-02-11 02:22So my alarm was supposed to go off in an hour at 315. Was going to have an early early start. I've woken up an hour early. I've looked out my window which fortunately overlooks freshwater bay and if the river is anything to go by.... The ocean will be amazing. The winds are looking pretty much straight westerly. Oh I can not wait to get out!!!!! I'll be around rotto in a blue centre console. Come say hi

crays in the rocks
Submitted by abelg on Sat, 2012-02-11 02:03went out for a spot of squidding tonight.. and starting jigging next to some young anglers.
about 2 hours into it, they spotted 2 large crays and got all excited, one of the fellas floated a prawn on a hook near the cray, of which it latched onto
and tugged relentlessly (and NO he didnt deliberatly jig it). they managed to pull it up and measured it at 102mm (75mm i think is legal), and there was a second on that was larger under the same rock..
now my quesion is. with the appropriate licences would these kids been able to keep their catch? i dint know what to say to them, if i should have said anything..
but i was proud to see them release the cray as they were unsure of the rules and regulations..
needless to say it was quite funny to see the girl handling the cray (very well) and the two other fellas freaking out. hahahaha

iFish
Submitted by james14 on Fri, 2012-02-10 18:01Good afternoon,
On tv atm paul is fishing in a tiny rubber ducky with an eletric motor. It looks like he is fishing up north on the edge of some nice looking cliffs
and the seas are not dead calm. Has anybody seen this episode and thinks its dangerous? Never been up there an experienced it, but by the looks of it on the tv
it does looks a bit hairy.
Cheers james

3mile ocean reef today
Submitted by Cjsurf on Fri, 2012-02-10 17:56Went out to 3 mile today for first time and a bit beyond tried to find some ground on the sounder couldn't get much still very inexperienced Dno what I'm doing/looking for really, was good to get out deeper than just staying shallow and what a morning to do it! Nice conditions until the easterly hammered us on the way in didn't know where to go through the reef but with nice conditions and no swell didn't matter this morning but took note of what others were doing, only managed wrasse and a small black arse . How did every one else go, and what should I be looking for ground wise and depths? Chasing anything that will fight edible or not

Big schools off Hillarys south wall... mullet?
Submitted by Snags on Thu, 2012-02-09 17:06So I went for a fish Tuesday arvo and made the trek to the end of the south wall.
On many occassions there was schools of either big mullet (or tailor or herring??) swimming up and down the inside (facing back towards the beach) rock wall, at times they would even swim in a circle, creating a 'ball'. Sometimes just swimming at a leisurely pace, other times chasing the small bait fish. They were hugging close to the rock wall.
These schools were at least 5 meters across. We threw twisties, plastics and unweighted mullies into, on top of, infront of, through, behind, underneath, every direction possible, and they were NOT INTERESTED! I'm telling myself that they're big schools of mullet, but can someone confirm?
These were decent sized fish too! Looked to the naked eye about 40cm+
Anyone else seen/caught them, i just want to know what they are?
Cheers,
Alex.
