What's my motor worth ?
Submitted by Marineboy on Thu, 2014-05-22 15:18Hi guys,
looking at upgrading my current outboard motor just looking for opinions on what my current motor is valued at, also if anyone is interested in buying it.
My current motor is a 2006 mercury 90hp four stroke efi, it has approx 600 hrs (to be confirmed) would be sold including cables and controls. Motor runs well the engine cowl is a little faded and could do with a re spray. It is the shorter of the two leg lengths I think they call that long.
Any input would be appreciated.
Mark.

New toy to play with for me trip
Submitted by fincher on Wed, 2014-05-21 14:04Well I've gotten into jigging in the last year and love it but one problem is my left arm gets tired pretty easily and sore from haven erbs paulsy but do struggle on to keep fishing the day out and countless hours off looking for rods looking for a right rod for me I think I had found it. The company is newish and has been product testing this new handle for a while now and have just released the first batch off handle and rods on the market and I thought I'd grab one to give it a try as the owners said it helps wit muscle fatigue and so on also people with disabilities like myself find it much easier to use than a stander straight rod. So I found it bout 8 months ago they said it be ready for end January but they were haven hard time getting th Fuji guides and reel seats but Finaly received them in late April and few weeks to out the rods together and send them out I was getting nervous as I really wanted the rod for me up coming trip to the abrohlos were I wanted to out it to the test so asked them to express post it to me and now just recieved it opened it up out off the box and out off the bubble wrap I come across a nice rod bag well call it also designed to fit the fin off the handle out it together and had a feel and omg it felt Lao good with me arm I was impressed so grabbed me sustain 6000 out off me reel bag that's ready for the trip threaded the line thru and tied a loop knot so I could fit over the fence post and went back 10m or so and tried it out tightened the drag and started a slow pump and wind and omg I could hold the rod better and also put more pressure on then it started to rain so thought I'd write a post up about it
forgot to tell you the name off it it's a Get A GRip handle with a crony prodigy ii blank overall is 5.9 "
ill let the pics speak for themselves

Cockburn Sound Boundary?
Submitted by surfer on Tue, 2014-05-20 22:29G'day Guys,
Does anyone know if there is a defined boundary for Cockburn sound i.e.what is the northern/western most points of Cockburn sound, is it woodman point?
When people refer to catching fish in "Cockburn sound" are they actually in Cockburn sound or are they really outside the boundary, for example if I'm fishing mewstones am I still in Cockburn sound?
Cheers

Catch up.
Submitted by Dazza1611 on Tue, 2014-05-20 21:30Just wondering if this would get any traction.
i am from SOR and never fished anywhere NOR but would love to give places like the 3 Mile a go. I am sure there is other fishos in reverse. Problem is I don't know where to start.
So now the reason for the post.
How about a meet up organised where we get to put faces to names, have a laugh and maybe a beer or two. Have a fish and share some "secret" spots.
So would anyone be interested?

Young Pinky Master??
Submitted by Mick C on Tue, 2014-05-20 20:57Caught up with a fellow Fishwrecked member on the water last Saturday. I had exchanged a number of PMs with this member since before I moved over here and he has been very helpful in providing information that has improved our catch rate. It was good to finally meet him and his family, until our on-water conversation was terminated by the fisheries inspection boat - just doing their job and I certainly support the policing of the regulations. My young fella wasn’t on the boat that day (constantly getting up at 5am was a bit much and seeing he had got a nice pink the night before, and I was taking out a work mate as deckie, he politely declined). He was however disappointed not to finally meet the member that had helped us and I PM’d this advice. We talked about all getting together for a fish one day and the member indicated his willingness to go fishing with the Young Pinky Master.
WTF - Young Pinky Master, didn’t his head swell far more than was actually warranted by his actions. Yes, he has landed a few nice pinks but Master is taking it far too far. He has actually contemplated changing his Fishwrecked “handle” to this but I have told him that there need to be many more pinks on the boat before this can happen. Young Pinky Novice or Young Pinky Beginner comes to mind.
Anyway, I have included a number of photos of recent pinks that we (well mostly he) have caught over the last couple of months on the 3 Mile (some of these have been posted before). He is going quite well (has fished all his life) and perhaps if the catch rate continues up until the demersal closure then YPM may be appropriate?
Mick
The first pink of the season. Undersized so back in the drink. YPB has caught a lot of these but no more photos of undersized - throwing back 45cm+ pinks is hard given that legal is 35cm in Queensland but the rules are the rules.
First legal of 2014 - 71cm.
The start of it all.

Margaret River fishing
Submitted by joycey on Tue, 2014-05-20 11:59Hi all,
Heading down to Margaret river with the family in a week, staying in town area.
Hoping to take the my two young girls out for a fish for herring/whiting and also go out for a fish myself off the beach after the usual stuff ( tailor etc ).
Not after any secret spots but would be grateful for any advice on easy/safe spots for the kids in the area, and any areas I could try when I go off on my own.
Cheers,

Black magic pushers - anyone use them?
Submitted by beeroclock on Tue, 2014-05-20 10:47Have been gearing up for an Exmouth trip and saw a Black magic "maggot" pusher in Bluewater tackle for $42.00 rigged looks exactly like a Richter Oscar junior but about half the price rigged. When i compared them the hook on the maggot has a very large gauge and doesnt seem as sharp as the Richter hooks. Just wondering has anybody used maggots or any other black magic lure with these heavy gauge hooks and found the hook-up rate not so good.

have noticed lots of talk re water temp
Submitted by straith on Tue, 2014-05-20 01:42So what should I be targeting now its getting colder in the water? Have been trying to be a non bait boat with middling to low success. Does anyone reckon certain species must have bait or does it change depending on conditions/season as to whether you use artificial or real?
Id be really interested in peoples opinion.
Cheers!

Tantabiddi Boat Ramp Question
Submitted by Rhyno13 on Mon, 2014-05-19 20:33Guys
Heading up Exmouth in a couple of weeks just wondering if anyone has any updated info on the state of the ramp at Tantabiddi. I know it was pretty well unusable after the rains a week or so ago has this improved at all?
The last photo I had seen looked like the old days at low tide with the hole at the end of the ramp and plenty of sand to get to it.
Cheers

Another Abrolhos question?
Submitted by Leigh85 on Mon, 2014-05-19 20:16Hi all,
I am looking at getting out to the Abrolhos some time soon for the first time. I have a couple of questions that hopefully the regulars can answer......how much fuel do you use for an over nighter or a weekend, I have a 610 sports cab trail craft I think about 260L with a 115 4stroke merc plan on taking an extra 60/80L in jerrys.
what about communications would a 27mhz radio be enough, could possibly get a marine VHF handheld if needed/recommended

Southern Stones
Submitted by Te Kaha on Mon, 2014-05-19 17:04Gday guys planning a trip down south to the stones and Iv been doing a bit of research and understand it can be pretty dangerous, more so than steep point ? We will be well equipped with harnesses etc and will be keeping an eye in the swell but other than if anyone has any gear tips or recommendations that would be great ! Never been down there before and we will be camping for a few days, so even camp sites, certain ledges to stay away from or ledges with anchor points (without giving away spots) would be much appreciated !
Cheers !!
Heres a couple of recent fishing photos in return haha
