Just hooked into something BIG at Quinns Rocks dog beach...

Ok so 3 hours ago I was at Quinns dog beach when something took my bait and proceeded to take nearly 300 metres of my line, stopping every now and then but generally not letting me take any in before going again. Felt very powerful, it jumped twice and the guy with me thought it looked around the seven feet mark. played it for around 1/2 hour before it came in slightly and bit through my 50lb mono leader, game over! Does anyone have any idea as to what that could have been? Cheers guys

Difference between jigging rods and bottom bashing rods

Can anyone help me out with this?  I'm pretty sure that the jigging rods tend to be shorter and they have a parabolic action.  Not sure why that is.  The bottom bashing rods are.... different - but how exactly and why?

Just wanted to say how happy I am with the new boat and thank the crew at Ocean Whaler Marine in Rockingham.

It took some time but really stoked with the finished product- it sucks I will be away for 2 months in Laos and not fishing but thats why the ban is on so there...

Big thanks to Nigel and Chris who enjoyed the only constant in life with me and changed the little things.

Thanks

Cheap Custom Fishing Shirts

Hey Guys

I have just been in the process of getting a few shirts made up for an Exmouth trip.  I have found a guy over east who was really easy to deal with and a lot cheaper than everywhere else I looked for custom shirts ($100 +).  They are screen printed shirts on your standard sort of long sleeve collared fishing shirts in your polyester quick dry breathable material and worked out to be about $50 delivered to your door.  Might be a good way to make that next trip a bit more special for that price.

I am still waiting on arrival so will let you know what they are like when they arrive but as I said has all been very professional and everything sent through looks great so am expecting good things :).

If you want to get in contact with him his name is Gary and

boating busso

Hi Everyone,

I have had a post running recently about getting a new boat. I had some great advice.

Just wondering though, for around the Busselton area what size boat would you think is best. I already have a little 4.20m Dory which does the job, but after something a little bigger.

Is a 4.75 adequate or do people think go for 5.00 - 5.50m

 Hi Guys

New to the site so thought I would get everyones opinion.

Just been thinking about putting together a kick ass tackle box for all my needs. What are your thoughts?

Been thinking about the Plano boxes and leaning towards the 7771 Guide series. BCF have it one sale atm for $119 if ur a club member.

Any feed back on this model or other ones/options would be appreciated.

Garden island fishing

Newbie boat owner, and have been fishing in cockburn sound the last couple of months. Planning on heading west of GI for the first time this weekend. thinking of targeting sand whiting etc... Along sepia depression. How safe is this region? I've heard waves break behind the island - any areas to avoid, or be wary of?

Any other suggestions for a good feed of whiting, squid, flathead etc in this area?

what about FFB this time of year?

Heading out in a 5.2m runabout

silky smooth drag thanks to oceanside tackle

heres a heads up, I own a twinpower 8000 which is an imported model, the drags were worn out and no parts available, looked like I had to import some washers but the good folk at oceanside cut some new ones from carontex and it is as smooth as silk once again, thanks Blake and crew

Beach Fishing combo?

G'day all, so I'm in need of a new beach fishing combo as my previous set was stolen!  so what are some beach fishing combos all you would recommend? I'm looking for something strong enough to catch decent sized fish like mulloway, salmon, small sharks, ect.. but at the same time something with a sensitive tip, to pick up smaller bites so that catching the 'smaller' species like chopper tailor, small snapper, soapies..ect is still a lot of fun...i'm looking for something light, so it's not so tireing when you'reo n those long all-nighters, so i'm opting for graphite.. I'll mainly be fishing metro beaches, and occasionally might head down south for the Salmon run...I have a budget of $500.. i know I'm pretty choosy! but believe me all advice will be much appreciated. currently i'm looking at the Shimano Aero Wave graphites, they seem like decent rods for a reasonable price, matched with maybe a 4000+ size reel i was thinking the Shimano Stradic Ci4 (i'm a bit of a Shimano addict)...though i think that may be a bit small...anyway so what would you all recommend? :)

Cheers
Rubber Chook

P.S. My first post here, only just joined.. so be gentle! ;)

Naturaliste reef

Hi guys,  fairly new to boating in the southwest and based in Bunbury.

Would anybody care to give me a pointer as to how to find the naturaliste reef? I have heard that it is some 37 km or is that nm out from Bunbury, headed southwest but something more specific would be appreciated.

Thanks guys,

Unhurry

Furious!

Take my reel to a store after work to get new braid on, take it for a flick to realize the spool had been damaged in the machine. Two gauges out the top and now it won't cast! Line Getz all jammed up in the groove to say I'm angry is an understatement!

floreate groynes drains. being closed to fishing have your say now

http://www.cambridge.wa.gov.au/Council/Public_Notices/Intention_to_make_determinations_-_TOC_Local_Goverment_and_Public_Property_Local_Law

Local council wants to ban fishing during summer from the groyne and aother areas during daylight hours.

Have till end October to plead your case....

Set netting exmouth

 G'day guys,

Heading up to exmouth and wondering if it's worth taking my set net, is there anywhere I can set it LEGALLY, iv had a look at the fisheries rules but they seem a bit ambiguous just as they like them to confuse you!

Any advise on where to set a net would be great

Cheers
