Fishing Denmark help! June 2-5

I will be in Denmark from June 2-5. I have done a bit of research into possible fishing areas, but would love some further advice on what is actually biting down there at this time of the year and where?

My current location references are http://www.denmarkwa.asn.au/map_denmarkwa_east.htm and google maps. I am staying on Minsterly Rd just north of the inlet.

The inlet is an obvious place to start, but I would really love to chase some bigger/different fish I wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to chase land-based in Perth.

Can anyone provide me with some advice on rigs/baits/techniques that work down there, McGeary’s Rock and Wilson Head look like fishy areas? Plus any advice on safely fishing this area is also greatly appreciated. Most likely to be fishing on my own and don’t want to end up on the news as fish food.

Some old threads mention that snapper is the go this time of year. Salmon would also be present, but where?  Fellow members, do you have any more advice on the species I can target down there and how?

I have a car but no off-road capabilities. I’m also happy to meet up with anyone who will be in the area at that time too.  Drop me a PM.

Thanks for reading,
Alex.

2012 Fishwrecked Exmouth Invitational - Sat 31st March, Sun 1st April, Monday 2nd April

Hi Crew,

I have decided on the dates for the fishwrecked competition.  They are going to be held late March/early April for the following reasons ; Gamex and AIBT are on Mid March and have lots of boats in town, most of them will have gone by the time our comp is on.  Its the week before school holidays start and Easter - so the chaos at the ramps will mainly be by us.  It does pose a cyclone risk, but it is usually pretty minimal by then and the chances are slim.  These dates also leave holiday rentals available before school hols begin.  The temperature will be warm but hopefully so will the water temp and with the international and gamex the weeks before hand, we should have a pretty good idea if the billfish are worth chasing or if we spend most of our time chasing other oooglies.

Dates are :

Sat 31st:

3.30am : 1.8m

8.40am : 1.25m

3pm : 2.1m

10.30 : 1.1m

Sunday 1st:

4.45am : 1.7m

9.20am : 1.4m

4pm : 2m

Monday 2nd:

12am : 1.2m

7am : 1.6m

11am : 1.5m

6:15pm : 1.9m

Any questions, please ask.  There will be a capped amount of spots next year so get in early.

Cheers,

Adam

? NZ YTK's charters

Hi guys just wondering if anyone has chased Kingies in NZ.

My wife and I are going to be over there for first two weeks of September and are keen to do at least one days fishing. I saw a post on here about charters to Three Kings a while back but think it might be a bit too far north. The guys at Epic adventures look the goods and are close to where I will be at one stage. I will be spending a bit of time on both islands so could go from a number of different locations and it does not have to be chasing YTK'S if someone can suggest something better. Obviously I can't bring anything home so if I am fishing for a feed it would have to be pretty special, one way or another.

Look forward to your thoughts or reccomendation of good operators. Cheers Karl

Effect on lures after changing trebles

G'day Fellas,

Was gonna change the trebles on some of me bigger trolling lures (X-raps, yo-zuri hydro magnums, halco 190 crazy deeps) for the Owner s-77 single stingers.

Anyone else tries this? any tips/advice?

Will this effect the "swimming" action of the lure?

cheers guys.

Hey all

Fish hard

what piss's me off most!

When you go to all this effort to orgnanise a day out on the boat, organised crue bait ice food etc etc, get up at 5 am to pack the boat, and expect the arrivals of the boys at 6 am. 6 30am i should call him, no answer, 7 30 am, i go back to bed. Boy it shits me so much when this happens. He wont be copping a invite out again! Looks like i might be like at throwing up a few deckie adds due my irreponsible mates cant organise them selves for a day of fishing

sorry to vent frustrations.

Oh well him being a no show means ive now fixed my cd player and speekers on the tub at least!

? about rigs and the setup

i have finaly learnt how to do the dropper loop now i have  hooks that the line is to big for how do i join them to the loop

i have the hooks snelled with smaller line  whats the best way to join the 2 mono 1 hook is snelled with braid as this was  eyeless and it holds better than the mono

is it ok to cut the loop so it is a single straind of line so i can sell a hook or is it best to join with other line like the pre rigged.snelled hooks with line you can buy

records

hi guys

i know you can get the list of records for the weight of each fish, but is there records of the lenght as well?

tailor rigs

hi all going beach fishing saturday nite is 10kg trace ok to use for tailor

Much needed rain....wonder if it is too late for the trout though

I was down in Pemby in March and it had not rained for msot of the summer and the water levels were so low you could hardly believe fish were there. However there were trout in these puddles of reasonable size. I just wonder if they managed to survive until the rain. I would hate to see no more trout in Pemby.

Fishing Sunny's

Thought I'd put it out there

Whats everyones preference on Sunny's for fishing? the obvious Spotters, flying fhermen's etc and why?

Lost my sunnys a couple weeks ago in an unfortunate canoe accident ( Some Pr*ck knocked me out!) so am looking for a new pair.

Am interested in the flying fishermen ones, but is there anywhere to try them on? (am quite fussy with how they fit to my head!).

Cheers

FCV 620/585 owners.

Righto just a quick question to 620/585 users about the user manual and user guide. I took the plunge last week after lots of research and got myself a 620 which I got from chivers marine . It was the only one they had which was to be installed onto a boat but the owner pulled out for whatever reason but the box was opened ready to install and they lost the user manual which was easy to find on the net and download then print but in the contents list it says there is also a user guide . What I want to know is there any good info or anything useful on that because I can't find it anywhere on the net. Due to the box being opened I managed to get the unit for $1120 with the p66 triducer which I'm pretty happy about .
Can't wait to get out and start learning how to use the bloody thing.

Cheers
Gazza

fishing rod

hi all broke fishing rod about 4in can it be fixed, can i repair it myself or take it sum where to get fixed, any place near northern suburbs you know i can take it to get fixed

listeningTo jessica

I don't know what you guys reckon, but with the effect of climate change on the movement of the fish stocks like marlin turning up on the Busso. jetty and mackies off Bunkers it makes the science behind the reason for Marine Parks extremely dodgy. You just can't garantee that the fish will be where they normally should be and the most carefull of planning may be sadly astray.

FADS

does anyone know if the FADS are still in place or have they been taken in yet ?

hoping to get a few days fishing in next week weather permitting :-)

new snapper/mulloway outfit rod suggestions??

hi fellas, great site u have here, been reading for a while, first time posting. Just asfter a few rod suggestions for chasing snapper and mulloway of rock walls. Ive just bought a shimano baitrunner 12000d and will probly load it with about 15-20lb braid, just wondering what rod you guys would recommend or are using? i was thinking something around 8ft and 10-15kg. My local tackle didnt really have something to suit both casting and the heavier set up. cheers. p.s ive just moved down to australind and have been doing a bit of fishing off the busso jetty and have seen some monster mulloways pulled up so am looking to get amongst it, also i hear of snapper off the rocks in bunbury

Undersized mulla shown on radio web site..........

Comp running on 94.5 showing a really small mulla.  Looks dead  by its eyes and maybe a cut throut...

best condition for beach fish

hi all newish to beach fishing, whats the best conditions to go fishing from beach, is full moon or no moon better, wind direction? high tide or low tide best. thanks

Jess's Roadshow Just for Dale

I attended the meeting tonight in Busso. regarding the Commonwealth Marine Park Draft plan and there was 30 people who attended 10 of which was rec-fishers which really diappointed me as i thought we could out-number them but i couldn't even get my own son to go and using his own words I needed to get my priorities right because tonight was one of the few nights in the year that was ideal for catching Mulloway on the jetty nice and rough. prof Meeuwig made some comments that was fundamentally incorrect but what the heck with such a small turnout of greenies if I chose to pass wind I'd make more noise than them. Didn't stop for a free meal so no after dinner chit chat to report or what the sustainable sea food consisted of.

The State budget impact on fisheries

Environment

Royalties for Regions will be invested in the establishment and management of two marine parks in the Capes and Dampier Archipelago, including research activities aimed at improving fish stocks in Western Australia.

Mr Porter said $41 million would be spent on marine parks in the Kimberley, totalling 900,000 hectares, in collaboration with the federal government and $16 million would be spent on establishing Capes Marine Park and Dampier Archipelago Marine Park

extracted from the press release,

seeing we getting new marine parks, they have upped the cash in the system to support it, but spending $57m with the Federal money as well is a lot of cash to set up those marine parks, and hopefully give them the policing resources in Fisheries to make a difference.

Whats your thoughts ???

Only Fisheries please, not getting into the other CR@P fights again, thank you.

One of my little secrets is out..

Well guys i couldnt resist it any longer.

I fished in a location most of you all will laugh but i hooked a ripper!!!! Im keen on feed back and what you all think about it.

Story goes i was photographing the old abandoned powerstation in south fremantle

As i was walking past the water in the front of the powerstation , the bit where the water used to run out to the ocean. I saw a big splash and  saw some fish swimming around. Similar to big herring. May have been mullet.

Seeing as though the place has been abandoned since the 60's i started to wonder if there were any MONSTER fish still swimming around untouched from fishermen. The water goes right back under the building so anything could be there..

I didnt even bother taking pictures anymore i was so keen on getting my fishing gear but it was 5pm n a sunday and i live in morley ( too far away)

I decided that the next weeked i would head there and give it a crack.

The next week seemed like an eternity but finally the saturday came and i was off down there armed with a pack of prawns. I found a nice safe spot and cast. Straight away i got a couple bites then bang! Hooked up to a fish. Got it in and it was a baby black bream. Really silver in colour though . Very surprising to get one here.

What happend next is beyond belief. I put a bigger hook on and found the biggest prawn in the pack and cast it out unweighted and waited. All of a sudden i was hooked up to something massive!!!! It went left  right and came up to the surface and i know its hard to believe but it looked like a bream about 6-9 kg!!! Yes it  been a snapper?

Then it shot towards the underneath of the  powerstation before it snapped me off under the pylons. After that i never hooked it again. Only small black bream. I kept it really hush hoping i would snare the big one again. I have been back even with mulies but no luck.

One local said to me that there are black bream in there up to 5 kgs but no ones hooked one yet.

I tasted the water and its pretty fresh, just a hint of salt.

I will post the pics of the bream when i get home and of the bit where i was fishing....
