My time spent fishing from woodmans point to freo
Submitted by NightWolf on Mon, 2011-05-16 09:19hi all ive beenon the site a while been trying diff things to try catch the fish
ive been fishing alot from woodmans to freo and so far i have zip the wife said you keep using fuel and bring nothng home
ive fished near the power boat place on the long jetty there and best ive done is only 1 or 2 heering
fished ammo jetty a few times 1 whiting and a few yellow tail and some scallies
been to freo a few times just down from traffic bridge mostly trumpeters some yellow tail and small snook
my luck in fishing here in perth is well plain and simple i seem to suck
i have take trip to cooktown and sydney and both times got nice bg fish but not once here in perth not through lack of trying either
so im looking for spots to try new spots with in a hours drive from woodmans point
maybe im not doing something right wrng bait wrong hooks wrong riggs but i try to use diff
i know when i a boy we use to get mullaway sharks down here at woodies but them spots are no longer accessable and are now rockwall
i normaly take my son with me to 3 to 4 rods
1 beach rod as my big line and a smaller rod i use for heering whiting ect ect 1 flick rod thats it
mybe its just my luck and here in perth well i just dont have any of it...
so im now going to look at this spot in kwinnana as well as try the kwinnana jetty and maybe of the beach near the mussel farms
is it best to use 1 bait for take a mix or mullies/squid/ocy
anyway thank you all for reading my ramblings if its all to much just say shut up and ill go away.
This pic here is a 4cm blowy was caught on a small bait hook it was funny at the time.

Quobba Station
Submitted by mrwinta on Mon, 2011-05-16 01:40A mate and I are making our first week long trip up to Quobba in 2 weeks. We have spent countless hours talking about what we need to take etc and as the days till the trip get fewer the amount of time lying in bed unable to sleep from the exitement gets longer... We are loading the ute with 2 motor bikes, tinny, spear guns, camping gear, fridges, beer etc...... the list goes on...
12 ft 10kg X-factor grafite-14000 Spheros-30 lb braid, 9 ft 24 kg T-curve-8500 Fin Nor-50lb Braid, 7 ft 3-6 kg T-Curve-3000 Arelex-20lb braid, 2other similar set ups as spares, 150lb- 60lb Jinkai, 150lb wire traces, 90cm balloons/ helium, various hooks up to 8/0, box full of halco twisties 50- 60gm, some crazy looking dumbell poppers, 1m gaff, 2.5m gaff with the pool brush handle to extend it to 6m, rope gaff, and all the normal tackle I would take out in perth waters.
Due to us having never fished like this before I can only guess what to take, can any body add to this list or sugest any extras to take... Also what bait and / or additional lures would be the best to take with us?
Thanks guys..

Squid heads for bait?
Submitted by Goodz on Sun, 2011-05-15 19:10With a lot of squid being caught lately, what do you guys do with the heads and legs? Bait? I always keep mine but usually just use the legs for whiting and stuff.
Just wondering if anyone uses the head with legs on as a big bait for dhuies or snapper? I've tried them before but never caught anything. Someone show me a pic of a fish they've caught on a squid head!

Connecting 240v device to 12v car battery
Submitted by buschy on Sat, 2011-05-14 22:37Hey folks,
Looking at connecting up a flouro light with a 240v mains outlet to a spare 12v car battery (so I'm not concerned at running it flat). It's just for a couple of hours at a time between recharges.
I'm pig ignorant and despite a bit of Googling (which has left me more confused) still have no answers.
Can anyone here explain to me in laymans terms?
Cheers,
Buschy

Broome Land Based Options??
Submitted by merman on Sat, 2011-05-14 11:41Hey Fellas, heading up to Broome town next week for a bit of a wander and an explore.
Any input on Broome land based options?? Was thinking Gantheume point to chase a coupla bluebone!!?? Float a livey off the bank in Barred Creek and a bit of lure chucking.
Will probably end up taking a quick look in at telegraph pool/Willare Bridge COuntry too.
Got any ideas, I would like to get onto a Barra but know its the wrong season now and have heard that the Threadies have been thick.
Cheers.

Sandy Cape Advice Needed
Submitted by buschy on Thu, 2011-05-12 19:27Still trying to find a mulloway. It looks like I won't be going as far north as first hoped so I am tossing up between going back to the area north of Leeman (which to be honest has never looked like producing a mulla - despite info to the contrary) - OR - heading up to Sandy Cape.
I've visited Sandy Cape a number of times, although only fished it once without success. There should be some nice gutters starting to form around now so figure it might be worth a stop for a night or two.
Can anyone give me any advice on whether I am better off targeting the sheltered area close to the main camp sites, or hitting up the more exposed areas to the south? I have a 4x4 so don't mind doing the hardwork to get to decent spots. Am I better targeting the gutters or looking for reef structure?
Going on a scaly mission soon - so will be using scalies, mulies, potentially blues and hopefully whiting as bait. Whiting being my first preference but it depends if they are around.
As far as rigs I try to use running sinker, 2x snell hooks...sometimes gangs...just depends on the bait and conditions.
I guess any tips, secrets, hotspots, etc on the area would really be appreciated. I've been chasing this mulla for going on two years now and don't seem to be able to move on and try and different types of fishing until I get it.......so it would be nice to nail it. Even if it's a 30cm schoolie! :-p
Cheers,
Buschy
