I have finally joined this site after a year or so of sitting on the sidelines .Im a mad keen fisherman who has enjoyed a number of different fishing experiences and caught a wide aray of fish . I have become a victim of the whole eging craze both land based and boat and recently have got right into the bream on lures thing scoring my first whopper on a Ecogear SX48 in the Murray yesterday(didnt have a brag mat).

Well i look forward to helping out with any questions if i can and vice versa .

Hi all looking for some help regarding putting a bait  and catch box under the deck of the coast runner. does anyone build custom cooler boxes? these will follow the v contour of the hull for max storage. ideas help appreciated

Went out for our last fish in Exmouth this arvo. We decided to give trolling for billies one last go.

When we got out the sea breaze was already in and it was quite sloppy.

Didn't think the conditions would suit trolling but I was wrong.

Mates Chris and Ian managed there first billfish in a hot 2 hour sesion.

Great way to end a awsome trip.

im doing a TAFE assignment on the leuwin current and its effect on the commercial fisheries in WA. i know that it effects the cray fishery down here but thats about it! i thought some of you blokes might know a thing or two so if anyone does- ANY info would be greatly appreciated, as its due very soon! haha cheers

Just a follow up to my topic last week.  No one followed us out on Saturday because no one else went out on Saturday.  And with good reason...  The weather was poo with a bit of crap thrown in on top.  And to make things worse, there were no Kwells in the glove box when we got to the ramp!!!  Aaaaargh!  I hadn't been out fishing without popping a couple of Kwells in over 10 years (the last time I got sea sick). 

So out we head as the sun poked it's head over the hills.  It wasn't too bad at that stage with light SE winds creating a few lumps to negotiate.  By the time we got out there, I was already feeling a bit crook.  Oh oh.  I kept my mouth shut and fished on as I didn't want to upset the old man and kill all the hope and excitement of catching a big one.

After a while, with only a few shit fish and a Seargent Baker for bait brought on board, I was getting worse and couldn't hold on any more.  Projecting an interesting fluid out of my mouth and over the side of the boat.  I thought Cornflakes and Milk were going to find there way back up but the only thing that made it out was (i think) water???

Anyway, I pushed on, feeling a bit better after that and we decided to head a bit further out to a spot which had produced well in the past.  By the time we got out there just after 9am, the winds had picked right up and after giving it a go for 10 mins, hoping it would die off a bit, we decided to pull the pin.  I was getting more sick again and the seas were quite big.

It was a slow and dissapointing ride back in and after pulling the boat back on the trailer and looking out at the ocean, you would swear that it was good fishing weather.  It shows how deceiving the ocean can be and how quickly it can change out there.

So no photos - which under the circumstances is probably a good thing.  It just wasn't meant to be.  Maybe next time.  Hope others had more luck!

Just wanted to contribute to the forum. nothing to brag about but caught my first fish today off the Kwinana jetty it was a 24cm herring so nothing big but has definetly hooked me on fishing.

hey guys im new to the forum so thought i'd introduce myself.

i try to wet a line any chance i can and mainly fish the canning river, salter point side. Have been lure fishing there for about 4 years now and have caught mainly bream (nothing of the 40cm mark) the occasional flattie and tailor and lately these perch looking fish which can be a bit annoying. 

will post some pics once i get around to carrying a camera with me!

If you have an ESE wind does that mean tha wind is blowing from tha East and tha South going North West or is it blowing from tha North West going South East?

Hey people, i was just wondering if anyone knew of any depth sounders on the market that are small, portable (clip on to the dingy maybe) and dont have a fishfinder, as we have bottomed out a few times in murky water and were just wondering if there was anything we could get that was relatively cheap and told us of the depth in the water without a fishfinder...

If you know of one let me know roughly how much and maybe the brand thanks guys!

Gday all, was just hoping to get an idea off anyone, what sort of weather to expect up at Ningaloo during August?

I have fished it before in the July school holidays and found it to be mostly nice weather with only a few times it blowing up from the S/SW. Planning to miss the school holidays this year and head up for a couple of weeks in Aug. Usually only fished the Tantabiddi side but would also like to fish the gulf side if weather permits.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as i have a choice of Aug or going in Nov. Would prefer Aug though.

Hey guys ,have just purchaced myself a set of outriggers,reelax bases pacific comp poles ext

i have never used outriggers before and have a few questions

when positioning your poles whilst trolling do you have the poles 90 degrees straight out from the side of the boat or do you angle

them slightly back towards the transom

secondly when setting the clip tension for trolling skirted lures are the outriggers actually supposed to set the hook or do they

just position the lure, release under minimal tension and the rod sets  the  the hook,any help would be appreciated

Thinking of buying the Diawa Saltiga 6500 S Extreme Maverick reel & 76 GT S Extreme Popping rod, just wondering if anyone has one and how they rate it compared to the Stella's etc.  Any info would be great. 

Tell you what, how hard is it to try and reduce the amount of rods to take to Exmouth.

Atm i think im prob around the 30 mark, covering all bases from game to popper to jig to fly to little flickies and squid rods.

Almost need to tow a trailer behind the boat just for the rods.

So how much gear is everyone else taking.

hey everyone were having some sounder troubles the souder is a furuno LS4100  

the problem was my grandad for the 1st time with this echo sounder(we havnet touched any settings) went to try toi locat a spot in roughly 50 metres and around 25k's out.

the echo souders problem was it would go to a max of 45 metres roughly and not show any deeper or any rocks/strucre/bottom type etc just one long straight line 

it works fine in shallower water

and he certainly went deeper than 40 metres as he eneded going out maybe 45-50 km out so that eliminate that possibility

so what settting do we have to adjust??, not a lot of experience with echo sounders

what fish can i expect land base at durian bay im going there next saturday wat bait or lurs are the best

u know how hoons come out of corners and spin the tyres acclerate really fast

i know thats illegal

BUT if u were to pull out of a corner/lights etc and acclerate really fast but NOT spin the tyres at all and stay within the speed limit

is that illegal?

Gday all was just wondering if anyone knows where i can get my reel repaired/serviced NOR(live in Morley). Did a search and didnt really get the answer i was looking for.

Was wondering if anyone had had any repairs done to their reel and can recommend someone/place

Reel is a Daiwa Emblem Pro, and basically when you wind, the spool doesnt go up and down, plus it had a swim in the surf.

Dont even want to attempt repairing/servicing it on my own as i have found in the past i am a retard when it comes to little fiddly things.
