Tidal corrections--Freycinet Inlet
Submitted by ranmar850 on Wed, 2016-03-09 16:38Would anyone have firm info on tide time corrections for Freycinet Inlet at Shark Bay? We'll be at Tea Tree Camp on Tamala for the week immediately before the next school holidays. Like to know whether or not I need to take a mooring, or if reasonable water will be available morning and evening for launch and retrieve. Closest formal tide station seems to be at Useless loop which is roughly 22 nm further north up the bay.
Any one nor would like to come have a look at a project boat for me
Submitted by Callum24 on Wed, 2016-03-09 12:13A friend up the road (carine)wants to get rid of his old swift craft and given me first offer
while I have the tools and gear to fix it I'd like a more experienced opinion if it's worth doing her up or maybe put my money towards a new small tinny
Happy to through some one a carton or a few Bob for your help
CheersCal

Abrolhos Islands fishing Charters
Submitted by Cold Feet on Tue, 2016-03-08 13:49Guys, I have a week after Easter free and my wife cant get holidays, and was looking to do a 3 to 4 night charter out of Gero to the Abrolhos islands.. Mills has a space at around $1560 and I have read really mixed reviews on this.. any suggestions as I have never been there, will not be going with mates, just joining a group charter and dont want to sit and drink on a boat with wankers for 4 days - I want to fish a lot, and and relax and chill.
Never been there, Mills could probaly not dissapoint, but are there better options out there?
Sometimes the smaller guys are better, sometimes not..??
Cheers for any advice..

Lost Rankin?
Submitted by Belly Fish on Mon, 2016-03-07 21:32Picked up this nicely marked Rankin Cod in 47m off Jurien Bay over the weekend. Just another example of northern fish moving further south. Happy to say it released very well, with no signs of barotrauma.

Plenty of crays about also as they are now back in close, 16 in two pulls all big reds.

Fishing around Denmark
Submitted by fuzzy79 on Fri, 2016-03-04 21:34I am heading down to Denmark on Sunday for a couple of days and looking for places to fish. I have a 4WD and 5.2m runabout, so pretty flexible with options.
I have done a search and it looks like KGW and pink snapper fishing in the Wilson Inlet is the best option. Is there any particular area in the inlet to go for? Do you just look for sand patches for the KGW and structure for the pinkies (do you get structure in the inlet)?
Any other suggestions? Would I need to travel far offshore to get into decent fish? Which direction would people suggest?
Not looking for exact locations (unless you want to share), just general advice. All advice appreciated.
Thanks

Selling a boat on Gumtree
Submitted by SpotHound on Fri, 2016-03-04 17:34Trying to sell my boat on Gumtree, I think every wierdo in Perth has rung me.
I get offers way way below the asking price, and they have not even seen it, what with that ?
Will they want even more off when they arrive? Not that any do after promising to come.
Why do they ask if the boat is still for sale, it clearly states in the ad that if the add is up, its still for sale.

Anyone running CMAP MAX chart Plotter card
Submitted by Dean78 on Fri, 2016-03-04 15:39Have a Navman 6600 with a 2004 CMAP NT+ card. Don't really want to swap unit just to get Navionics Gold.
Wondering if the contour detail on the CMAP MAX is any good for WA as they say on the Jeppeson website, like in comparison to Navionics Gold.
MAX is the top card the 6600 will take and cannot find anywhere in Perth to view. Only purchase through Whitworths or Chivers.
Any help much appreciated.

Coral Bay trip.
Submitted by Tom M on Fri, 2016-03-04 13:07Help please. On a trip up to Coral Bay at the end of the month (before school holidays) and will be taking a 5 meter Quinnie, I have traweld up there before for Mackies and done well but never bottom fished. What are good depths to fish and what could I expect and do you fish around or on top of lumps. I hear the bottom is unforgiving and to expect to lose a lot of gear. Any advice would be appreciated. Would even accept a spot to try to get me started.

FW Members Footy Watching Spot NOR - Use of the Super Shredder
Submitted by Mick C on Fri, 2016-03-04 12:52Following Uncle’s suggestions that a nice place to watch the footy with other Members NOR would be good, I have put up the hardware to do the job (audio and visual). Still quite a bit of work to finish the showroom properly, but to have a fully functioning computer and work area with large screen display is a nice thing, irrespective of footy watching.

We open on weekends by appointment, and a few games will surely constitute “appointments” subject to general consensus?
We have been open a couple of weeks now, and it has been awesome to meet and talk to Members. One subject that is frequently raised is the use of the “super shredder”. I have heard some heartbreaking stories of freezer failure, and talked to people that don’t want to send frames to landfill, amongst others. I do think we need to provide a service where Members can process their fish frames and waste and take away the product for future use, but I am considering carefully the best way to do this as the shredder is “evil” and cannot be operated by unskilled persons. Setup and cleaning are tasks so it is better to undertake the activity by batch at a specified time. There will be a cost but it would be reasonable, if this was a desired service?
A pre-footy “batch shred” on some weekends might be the go?
