All the gear was supplied. Was using a no name 8" GP rod and no name reel. appeared to

The terminal rig was a large wire berley cage loaded with a bread and oil mix, about 10 cm to a small hook and piece of bread.

shark teeth for sale
Submitted by Versus on Thu, 2012-11-22 10:20While bored waiting for my missus buying crap in a beading shop, I noticed these shark teeth being sold to make jewellery etc. Asked shop lady where they're from, Indonesia was the reply.
Is this a bad thing? I dunno. They're all pretty bloody small. Though i guess, the sharks they came from would've been killed anyway for meat so they may aswell make a few extra cents off the teeth? There was also heaps of shells, I imagine also from Indo, all the spirally types. I don't think its a great idea to encourage taking shells and things.

sub doggin the swan
Submitted by brenz on Thu, 2012-11-22 08:42With the avo off work i thought to myself what better way to spend it than walking the flats of the Swan River .
Upon arrival i was greeted with a light Easterly and 32ish degrees so i was super eager to get in the water. The water was almost glass on the flats so it looked super inviting.
Todays plan was to fish sub surface style stickbaits. So i tied on a Berkley 3B subdog and off i went .
As the afternoon was intended to work out which style of retrieve worked out best i was not yo confident that the afternoon was going to be a overly productive one but how wrong was I !
First cast hits the water , a couple of short twitches of the rod and i got a all mighty whak but unfortunatly missed the hookup , what a great sign i was thinking , and i was right as almost every 3rd cast was resulting in hookups or good hits. Over the afternoon I ended up landing my fair share of bream and loosing a few more to big bust off's.
The method i found best with the 3B subdogs on the day was to cast out and let the lure hit the bottom , then retrieve with 7 or so very small consistent twitches followed by a small pause then repeat , this proved to be deadly on the flats and in some snags with most fish comming straight after the pause when I began twitching again.

Mystery Lure
Submitted by Mojohand on Thu, 2012-11-22 08:17Can anybody please help by identifying this lure? I received it free with a fishing magazine years ago and have no idea what it is. It is a fantastic little lure and has caught a wide range of fish until a little Barracuda smashed it during a holiday up north and now it won’t swim properly. I haven’t had any luck finding it in local tackle shops so I thought if someone could tell me the name/brand I might have more joy..jpg)

Just don't know how far up they are yet or if they are even in the river in numbers?

Night fishing in summer
Submitted by damon4949 on Tue, 2012-11-20 17:22Hey guys, so got some nice lights in the boat now and was wondering if it's worth going out for a night fish if I'm going to miss the tide change (Tide on Friday is high at 7:30ish and I'll be on the water 8:30-9) and if it's still worth it, what kind of thing should I look for (ie. gutters, rocks, weed ect ect) withOUT catching any snapper. I know a few good tailor spots but was wondering if they bite all through the night. Hoping for something on the large side of things, Cockburn based btw.
Many thanks!
Damon.
P.S I searched for about 4 hours before asking, searching "night fishing" just brings up 2498576349876534897573498 snapper reports ;)

2012 Catalina or Stella FA
Submitted by lllz3rolll on Tue, 2012-11-20 08:59Hi all pros, I am contemplating between 2012 catalina 5000H and stella 8000 FA for popping. Put aside the price tag and Saltiga is out of the range for now?
Besides, is the 2012 catalina using the same gears as the Saltiga with lesser ball bearings? Normally the 2 tier reel will be using 2 tier gears? Correct me if i am wrong.
Thanks

I read that when sailfish round up balls of toadfish they won't touch a lure- all they want to eat Is toadfish!
