Hard body black bream

hi everyone, went fishing today in the canning with the aim of catching my first bream on a hard body. In the end I got 2 grunter and 2 bream and they were really aggressive and sadly quite small. First bream on a hard body is below, I'm really happy with myself!

daddy long leg's daddy

not liking being 2nd best at, well, anything, I strapped the tank on for another shot at the FW Biggest Cray title. a dismal dive on a lump I haven't been to in a while, crays were very scarce, water surgey, green, and milky. I know there are good jumbos here, so persevered. the whites have truly bolted, although lots of berried jennys, but sitting amongst them were 2 goooood papa bears.

I opted for the smaller of the 2, as he was a dead cert with the loop. I crawled back out the cave backwards so I could bag him, when I returned a minute later, the bigger one was gone. oh well there for next time I guess.

ended up being the only cray I bagged, but he was worth it. 91cms (I will call 91, but it could scale a bit more if needed), and will be submitted to fisho ron as the new FW record cray, when I return to work next week.

Peters fish

Cracker morning.10 kgs 1 black ass 2 dhues . Back before lunch. Few smaller dhues early on. One of them coughed up eel. Peter put on for bait. Iam thinking wtf. ( dumb ass). Pulled a cracker fish on it.

First metre Barra

it took me 18 months but finally cracked the metre mark. Land based on a soft plastic couple of months ago but thought I would share it. Was sooo stoked just wish I wasn't alone so I could have got a decent photo with it. PB before that was 87cm

Love Fishin

Big Dhuie's, couldn't keep away from them last Friday. Had to go Home early. Merry Xmas to you all.

Beat the boys

 Yes:):)

PB KGW - straight hook

First freedive in over 1 month - conditions were average with the wind not coming below 15-20 knots for most of the morning. No sounder on board so decided to try find new ground. Came accross some ok looking bombies and decided to jump in for a look. Viz was average to poor, some 6m, but managed a few fish and a PB KGW, 1.2kgs and 57cm long.

End result

 Early start Great  morning.

Another good day

Just thought I'd do one more post of this weekends efforts to stir up the west coasters 1 day before the ban is lifted.

I'm sure from tomorrow on this site is gonna be filled with big dhuies and the like but I couldn't resist even if its only 1 more day to go.

A good mixed bag with plenty of size fish returned.

Double headers first drop is always a good sign followed up by a horse kidney slapper next drift and you know the day is gonna be epic

The day was that good I even managed to put the bait away a have a bit of a go at soft plastics. Got a fish every time for the first 5 drifts!!

Popped my nanny and Dhu soft plastic cherry- sweet. I'm finally starting to get keen about it.

Anyway enjoy all and have fun out there once the ban is lifted.

Be safe

Vince

Smashed it

 Super enthusiastic Tailor !

For the snapper lovers

I hope this gets received well....

Just thought I'd post a pic of last weekends fishing expedition down south.

With all the doom and gloom over the dead snapper in Perth I thought it might be good to show a couple of healthy specimens that found their way onto my hook on Sunday.

Cheers

Vince

Bali fishing

Just been to Bali and went to visit some Bali friends in Amed, which is on the north east coast. Went chasing a few Mahi Mahi in a traditional Jukung. There had some caught over the previous days all around 5kg. Headed out about 10am to fish around some FADs which are just floating bamboo rafts. Trolling a whole mackerel on a 2 hook snelled rig at about 2knts. Great fun, bagged a few including a 12kg and 20kg, my PB, which were sold to the local market. The fisherman gets about $1 a kilo.

New bundle of joy

Well my son Adam and Jaye produced the goods again, Savannah was born after 36hrs labour, both mum and bub are doing well.
really starting to feel older lol

wagoe beach bucks run

after doing an all nighter saturday for a bucks party packed the car sunday for a early morning run to wagoe beach monday.

picked up marky and dicko and where on the road later then hoped but racing. arrived at chalets around 12 checked in and on the beach around 2pm lines in the water and tailor where on .

spent a few hours in the afternoon thunder lightning and rain fishing a gutter that had a bit too much current so moved 500m north and found the little mulla hole.

the rest gets a bit hazzy from here as the rum and beers were flowing, something along the lines of skull skull skull, fish on fish on fish on, love you man nah i love you man and repeat.

roughly 12 tailor and 4 mulloway landed biggest mulla over 90cm dropped a few others

night finished around 2am set alarms for 4am back on the beach to fish the reef this time ended up being a nice gap in the reef were another half dozen tailor landed a very large unstoppable toothy, a free jumping mack and a dolphin show.

wind started to blow fierce and predicted to get worse so back to camp for a crack later on, had one more go at original spot later that arvo reslut was one more mulla (tiddler) and my first and called it quits as the wind was winning. didnt get another fish in wind was crazy so we set of home wednesday night.

didnt get many pics but enough

cant wait to head back

cheers dicko and marky

Reminiscing

Just before the ban kicked in and i had to go back to work, i came home to a nice crispy stella 10k that the mrs bought for me as an early bday present. Eager as a kid at christmas i went out for a fish even though the easterly was howling. It was beautiful up until the FFB but not real nice after it. Arrived at the spot after having nailed a good couple of fish there the day before, and set the drift back 500m from the spot to sort the rod out. Decided big baits, big fish. 24oz sinker on and no sooner the sinker hit the bottom the line was at a 45 degree angle as the drift was a bit quick. Pulled up and changed to the 32oz sinker to try hold bottom for a little longer which seemed to work well. first drift was no bites and nothing showing on the sounder. I thought there has to be something here. Went back about 1km and tried 50m south of the mark and about 30 seconds after the sinker was on the bottom, the terez buckled. The drag wasn't set right at all and the reel screamed as soon as it hit which got me thinking snag due to the speed of the drift but then i saw head shakes, YESSSSSS first fish on the stella. got it to the top and a smile from ear to ear appeard on my face. Lifted the beast on board and screamed and shouted to myself as you do. Spiked, in the kill tank, bait thrown overboard and the rod packed away im headed in. I didn't have any scales so i stopped into complete angler and camping on dixon road and asked them to weigh it for me and got a touch under 16kg.

Love short days and the spur of the moment solo runs.

A day to remember

Nice shark and I.D

Well its time for the beaches to fire up for sharks. So had my first session last night. Was fairly quiet but nabbed this nice eating size bronzey.... well i thought it was at the time but a day later it may be a long nose grey shark?

Had a good time this week picking a a few nice sized Flathead along the river. Most of the time I usually spook the real big ones as I'm wading along in the shallows

but yesterday I picked up my second PB Flatty at 57cm. Best was 61cm couple of years ago. Must have been really hungry.. check out the mouth on it!

As always they are all realeased to make more Flatties

A PB & a first time catch

 Hey all

Couple pics of my PB yellowfin whiting and my first ever Mahi-Mahi caught a few weeks ago while on honeymoon in Fiji. The YFW was caught off the beach south of Mandurah last weekend. Iv never taken a huge amount of notice to what is a large YFW, how does this rate? It was just over 33cm.

Cheers!

Andy
