Catching Cobia at Gnaraloo Station

First trip up to the Gnaraloo's a couple of weeks ago. Only had a short trip of 5 days up there but it was unreal! We had no real idea of where to go and the wind kept coming in early but we managed a couple of nice days. Didn't get to do any bottom bouncing but we'll be back for sure one day soon and hopefully get a string of nice weather!

Attached is the action from the first 1/2hour we were on the water! unfortunatly we didn't come across any more bait balls during the trip, it was like someone flicked the switch and they were gone... I had just purchased a couple of Zerek Fish Traps as a last minute purchase the day before the trip and they both worked a treat as the fellas chucked em on light gear and lobbed them into the bait ball on the drop.

Thanks again for watching Legends and i'll chuck up Part 2 very soon on my Channel.

Cheers.

Ningaloo Sailfish 2019

Finally finished it. Complilation of purely sailfish footage from our recent trip. Mostly skipping gar, or tossing pitchbaits--the double hookup when we were caught with mouths full of sandwiches was on X-Rap 30's, trolling for mackerel. Got both to the boat and released.

Enjoy

Sounder problems and catching snapper

Had a few sounder issues but still managed to find some fish

Ningaloo 2019

Finally finished the first video of the recent trip. I had a lot of footage, too much for one video. I'll be doing a separate sailfish video this week. Enjoy

Winter Snapper and Kingfish on lures

A winter fishing session fetching a bag limit of Snapper and a nice Kingfish

Little vid from last weekend.

Was able to get out in close last weekend in amongst the crappy weather. not much around but managed a decent little cuttlefish which tasted amazing! Also i have been slowly transitioning over to jigs, lures and plastics and only using bait that i get myself. I have to agree that results are getting alot better. Managed my first sized Dhuie on soft plastic though there was no skill in it haha, it was simply sitting in the rod holder. Thanks again for watching Legends and i can't wait for next month as i'll be taking the boat up to Gnaraloo for 7 days and hopefully snag a fish.

Cheers.

Jigging off the jetski dodging sharks

It can get pretty exciting when jigging off the jetski and sharks are chasing your kingfish up!

Dogs and Fishing - who needs tackle!

Saw these when logging into my imgur account so thought I'd share.

A nice looking Rotty:

Another soft plastics video

Here is another video fishing soft plastics in the shallows... I still have plenty more learning to do with this style of fishing!

Above the Monties

Drone work from our recent trip to the Monties. I even put music to it!  mate did really well with the Mavic pro, considering he hasn't had it long, I did the editing.

Moved my stuff to Youtube

Most of my stuff to date has been posted to Vimeo. but Youtube has come a long way in the last 5 years, so I've moved some stuff, mostly fishing, over there. There is also a couple of classic/vintage/veteran motorbike events, and some timelapses mixed in. Some of it has been posted here before, some not. Enjoy

Soft plastics in the shallows

Throwing a few soft plastics around in the shallows can be productive when the conditions don't allow you to go out anything further

Augusta King George whiting in the Blackwood river

A couple of weeks back we heading south for a little whiting session. With minimal rains still to hit down here we found the whiting were still easy to find up river near the channel. No monsters about but still managed a decent little feed.

Cheers for watching Champs.

Slaying a few Skippy with the Old Man off Bunno.

Any day out with the man who taught you how to fish, explore and fish some more is a good day. Nothing decent turned up for us but was a nice calm morning out on the water.

The local Dive boat also needed a hand as he'd conked out about 1km from his dock so the ole Rudda gave him a lil tow in, lucky it was flat as a tack out there.

Some people turn their nose up on a feed of skippy but i still love them fresh in beer batter.

Cheers for watching Champs.

Another waverunner fishing video

The next episode just gone live, even found a flounder on the surface getting eaten by other fish in 30m of water

Beers, Spears and Fishing round WA

Been collecting a bit of GoPro & Drone footage of our trips up and down the coast over the last year and finally chucked it all in a bit of a video

Short trip down south beach camping and landing a few salmon

Headed south near windy harbour, the old man and myself have been coming here since as young as i can remember chasing salmon. Easier track in than Yeagarup (not as fun) and i think it's where i caught my first salmon way back in the day.

I still find there's alot less crew than most places so it's easy to get a spot along the beach to camp and find a nice gutter to fish in. We were lucky to find two close to each other. The herring were so so thick which is a good sign and most times we were hooking up on 5/0 hooks with the herring and every retreival had a dozen or so following in the sinker! I put away the 10 footer and played around with the light gear and 1/0 hooks using a paternostor rig straight outa China that we buy (same as Reedy's Rigz but a 5th of the price...Aliexpress)

Good fun on 12lb line and ended up having a nice little cookup of herring/salmon for lunch.

Thanks for watching team and if you like it smash it thumbs up.

Run-off Barra - February??

There are various events that drive fish to feed and for Barramundi in the Northern Territory one of those events is when the flood plains start to recede and river levels start to drop. In the NT they call this the run-off which normally happens around March/April or each year. Well, this year things are little different and there hasn't been much rain so far. In fact, it almost feels like the wet is over as we've had bugger all rain in February - traditionally the wettest month!!

One of the guys in our fishing group was watching the Daly River's levels and when they looked like they were dropping, we headed out there to check things out.

Here's a video of that trip.

Dogtooth Tuna, Fiji

I recently posted the video '50kg Dogtooth Tuna on Popper' well that was just one fish from our trip to the Yasawa Islands off the NW of Fiji.
Missing at Sea has partnered up with Nanuya Island Resort over there and has a custom 26" CC with a 300 on the back, lodging and fishing craft are spot on.
As usual I filmed as much as I could with a rod in my hand(and sometimes even put the rod down!).
The first episode covers jigging for Dogtooth Tuna in some absolutely pristine conditions before throwing some big topwater lures and meeting the owner of the resort for some sashimi.
This is the longest fishing movie I've made so far, grab a beer, hit the Youtube link, let it load up in 1080P and enjoy.

Let me know what you think below,
Cheers

Slow motion Black Marlin, Peak Sportfishing Exmouth

I recently had a chance to film the Peak Sportfishing guys in action for the Exmouth Heavy Tackle Tournament.
I really wanted to get some tight in shots of billfish hitting the switch with a proper camera not just the standard GoPro footage. With Cyclone Riley bearing down on us bringing big seas and howling winds making it made it incredibly hard for me to nail these shots with my head over the side spewing up.
These are the shots I did manage, some good shots of a black coming in hot on the switchbait and some great shots of a fiesty small one doing its jumping thing on the leader.
Enjoy!

Slaying some Skippy

I'm very new to diving let alone spearfishing but recently managed my first Dhuie on the spear, nothing massive but still a good feed in close.

I also shared the video on a social media fishing page and it really split the crowd on people a bit sensitive on spearing on tanks. I'm well aware other states ban spearing on tanks, also well aware that freediving for fish takes alot more skill and training than blobbing around with a speargun. Though i also think that taking a feed and selecting sized fish while on scuba at least in our state is sustainable.

Though i am currently learning to free dive and that is my ultimate goal i didn't realize there was so much hate towards spearing on tanks.

Any views on this either way i'd love to hear them.

Once again thanks for watching and hopefully everyone gets out this weekend!

50KG Dogtooth Tuna on popper! Filmed the strike!

I had a chance to be one of the first people over to fish a new charter that's started in the Yasawa Islands, Fiji by Missing At Sea.
I've got boat loads of footage and photos from the trip as you'd expect but this here takes the cake.
This is without a doubt the most epic thing I've seen and been a part of in fishing. We had joked leading up to the trip that if you got a 50kg Dogtooth on topwater you'd sell all your gear and give up fishing as there would be nothing left to achieve beyond that (for topwater diehards like us)

Thank god I had my GoPro on for that moment and am looking the right direction (for me if you don't capture the strike then the footage is useless.) There is very few clips of Dogtooth hitting surface lures on the net so I'm stoked I have a decent angle.
Hopefully I've managed to capture the excitment and emotion that runs hot when someone catches their fish of a lifetime, I think I've done alright on this one and am absolutely stoked with how it turned out.
Sit back, click the title of the clip, let it load up in 1080P for that big strike and enjoy.

If you watch till the end you'll find out how much a fish like this is worth to a fancy Fijian resort...

Threadfin Salmon - 80 Mile Beach WA

The boss and I are travelling around Australia.  We were in norhern WA and headed to 80 Mile Beach. We were only there a couple of days but the tides were favourable and we managed to wet a line on both days.

Tip: to see the video's full width, click on the title.

Short clip spearfishing and bagging a couple of crays

Learning to spearfish, wasn't what i was chasing but thought i'd try Fox fish. Mixed reviews how they taste but i thought they were pretty good on

the chew. Not sure i'd spear them again having since found out they live for 60 plus years.

And like always we were getting crays here 4 weeks ago and there were Dhuies everywhere...take a gun down 4 weeks later and nothing! Heading out tomorrow to hopefully slay

my first Dhuie on the gun, new double rubbers fitted...it's on. Thanks for watching Team.

How to fillet, gut and gill a Kingfish

I made a few tutorials on how I deal to a Kingfish once off the water

Never too old to start new hobbies!

1st year having a crack at diving, put it off for so many years and made alot of excuses. Anyone out there on the same path i say just walk in and book the course! You'll never regret it. Cheers for watching Legends.

Exmouth Gulf - Fishing and Prawning

We had the chance fish for a couple of days in the Exmouth Gulf. We caught a few fish but the nice thing was catching nearly a dozen nice sized prawns. Something we haven't done before.

Fishing among the snapping geckos

Fishing doesn't alway result in catching fish - for me,  at least. But fishing is always a worthwhile experience. This video shares a trip where a couple of boats went to Cahills Crossing in the Northern Territory. We didn't catch any fish but did see a barra about 80cm caught. For us though, the real experience was when the tide started to run hard and the crocs joined the frey. At one point, we couldn't get a lure in the water because there were so many crocs.

Lures we found that worked in Exmouth for our first trip.
