Mandurah
Submitted by Max 135 on Wed, 2008-07-02 17:31I'm staying at a freinds house in Mandurah on one of the canals with its own jetty. I've never been to Mandurah before so I don't know what to expect. Please help me to know how to fish and what to fish for in Mandurah on the beachs and in the rivers.

Bream Rod?
Submitted by Dreamweaver on Mon, 2008-06-30 15:46Gang
I'm HOPING (haven't arrived yet
) that my step daughters (3 of) are going to send me down fishing gear vouchers - so I'm HOPING for enough to pick up an inexpensive Bream Rod. I'm an absolute novice when it comes to bream rods, but thought I'd need something with a fast live taper at the end for flicking light softies and HBs, but with a little bit of musle below that (for the 37-40cm guys - hopefully!) and the (supa hopefully) odd Mulla that haunts the Hay/Kalgan etc.
I'm only guestimating - but should get $70-$100 and can probably stretch this a little bit.
What's the suggestions folks?

Redfin pearch
Submitted by UncleStu on Wed, 2008-05-21 06:02We;ve just had a nice feed of redfin from the warren river tasty little buggers i was wondering where the closest spot to perth would be to pick up a couple.
We tried and lost most of our hard lures with limited sucsess.
The softies were ok but the snags got the better of them
The bait we found by far the best was WORMS good old earth worms
Cant wait to go again ( catching earthworms that is)

Whats in the Capel river besides dirty water?
Submitted by rainbow on Sun, 2008-04-13 20:00I am checking out the Capel (on Google earth)for when I move over & it looks pretty brown flowing into the ocean. I know the G E photos can be months old but the footy oval is as bare as lady Godiva so it must be summer? Anyone know wot muddyies the river up & if the fish wear goggles?

River blowies...
Submitted by BlackSonEmpire on Tue, 2008-03-18 14:52theres nothing i enjoy more than wasting a few hours down the swan river on a nice day flicking different soft plastics around the flats and structure looking for a waiting flathead or bream. The only problem with this is as soon as the softy hits the water it gets smashed by blowies! so annoying and a waste of time and money. Obviously the hard body lures are an option but is there any secrets to using the plastics without the headeche of blowfish? i know the further upstream i go the less blowies there are but i live near freo so this is my preffered area.

Swan Crabs & Cockburn crays!
Submitted by Anonymous on Wed, 2008-02-13 10:23
I went for a crab dive in the Swan in Freswater bay area a few nights ago and got some of these bad boys!
Got my ten crabs, carapace size was approx 150-180mm
The end result, cooked big blues that tasted delish and were full of meat. Had a coldy with friends and the feed went down well!
Went out the next day in the Sound, had a school of pink snapper swirling on the surface right next to my boat doing their thing. By the time i jumped in the water they spooked and took off as it was that glassy calm on Monday arvo it was awesome. Got my eight crays, eight went to the boat and one very lucky cray made it back to the water hehehe!

crabbing on the swan
Submitted by scano on Mon, 2008-02-11 10:45Took the tinnie out for a cruise on the Swan River Friday and last night in search of some big blue's. All i can say is that mandurah may have the quantity but the river has the quality!!!
The we only got 2 crabs Friday night and only 2 last night but they were the biggest crabs i have seen in years. Cooked them up last night and they were absolutley chock a block with meat. Nice fresh loaf of bread and some salt and pepper and they went down a treat.
The smallest we caught was 62cm from claw to claw and the largest was 66cm (photo attached). Friday night was a bit choppy due to the wind but last night the wind slowed down to the point that it was like cruising on a lake in the boat.
will definately be back out there again this weekend.

Marron Season
Submitted by Big Kev on Thu, 2008-01-24 15:00Hi guys anyone off to catch a feed of Marron tomorrow? My mate and I went for a drive today to checkout some old haunts I have'nt been Marroning for many years so I looked up the rules not much has changed. We're going to try some spots in the Preston River area close to Bunbury as we believe the main Rivers and Dams will be over run with people. What are your thoughts on the subject.
Cheers Kev

Circles for bream
Submitted by SHizz on Tue, 2006-02-21 12:41VMC does some small thin gauge circles called "sure sets" thinking about giving an whirl for bream, seeing as i usually just leave the rod out with the drag loose.
Anybody tried these or similar on bream?
