anchor rope
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Tue, 2023-07-04 08:14Looking at replacing my anchor rope and just curious as to what type of rope is best . Don't use it often but want one that is going to last. Currently got I think is called silver rope and is starting to show signs of perishing. Would rather replace rope now rather than having to replace e rope and anchor down the track

Out!! Cricket
Submitted by crasny1 on Tue, 2023-07-04 07:19Just My opinion
Having played cricket (junior) and captaining Taranaki U15's in NZ believe that was fair play. There is no difference between any ball 1-6. You have to ground your bat or body or you can be run out or stumped if you are out of the crease. Just because it is ball 6 and at the end and you are about to walk and talk does not give you the right to not be behind your crease. Once över"is called you can then go and chat.
Otherwise what is to stop you from sneaking a quick single in the game, especially in T20 and ODI's in the last over's.

Boat Import
Submitted by Bradmac73 on Tue, 2023-06-20 14:54
G'day all,
Any of you FW members on here have any experience or knowledge of the process, cost, pitfalls of importing a boat from the US?? I expect in the long run it ends up cost neutral to buying here, but there's a good variety of options across some solid builds that I've always liked (wellcraft, Boston whaler, Grady-White etc) which is what has peaked my interest. Importing for my own use, not looking to import and then sell to make money from the transaction.
Any experiences, info or advice appreciaited.
cheers Mac

Overlander accommodation
Submitted by Browndog on Thu, 2023-06-15 16:47Hi FW crew, got a trip to Exy coming up but won't be able to leave Perth until the young fella finishes school around 3.00pm. Not sure if I should pack the swags (will just be me and him so easy as) and just pull over anywhere, or book a room at the Overlander and make life easy. Not expecting to get there until quite late.
Any one with recent experience there or other suggestions?
Cheers,
BD.

Keeping Fish - Interesting
Submitted by clayd on Tue, 2023-06-06 21:30Found this video about storing fish. Found it very interesting, especially how long you can keep fish from warmer waters.
I'm sure some of you ex wet liners knew this, but coming from cray fishing, I had no idea.

Oh, and a couple of picks from 2 saturdays ago fishing metro. Got a couple of bugger ones which I didn't get photos of.

Quick trip out last weekend
Submitted by Pob on Fri, 2023-06-02 09:36Another bloody awesome quick run out of Two Rocks last weekend. Went straight out to a spot me and a mate drifted over a few weeks ago, perfect run out but bloody cold. Hooked one dhu on first drop that threw the hooks boat side, couple more drifts got me a baldy on jig ( after not being able to get one for years, getting 2 in 2 trips was great) and a nice size dhu. Loving the grappler and slow element pe2 combo

Jockey Wheel help ?
Submitted by Happy Hooker on Thu, 2023-06-01 09:12Hi All
Need to replace a jockey wheel on sons trailer he just bought to start a side business doing property maintenace etc . Its a biggie ... dual axle 6m in length all up
( ex landscaper trailer , so it has the mower ramp up front , toolboxes , hydraulic tipper tray etc) .
So its going to be a pain to move around and manouvre by hand solo ( mind you he is 21 so has a bit of muscle compared to me but it is awkward) ... anyone had any experience with the 10 inch Ratcheting Alko jockey wheels or similair just for those times when you need to do a bit of solo finessing to get it on towball or in storage spot ?
They are about $200 around town so was going to get for his birthday next week , just didnt want to waste my time and money if they are crap as was considering same for my boat trailer.
Cheers
Mike

Bullet 7.2 - Bit of a photo dump
Submitted by Swompa on Mon, 2023-05-29 12:47As some may know, we were lucky to purchase a 7.2m bullet boat a few weeks back and over the past 6 weeks, have managed a few trips out with 150 odd nautical miles on the clock in that time period.
We are still yet to master some big fish though have caught plenty of squid which is arguably my favourite seafood.
Over the weekend, we managed to crack our first legal demersal with a size legal (on the old scale) Blackarse making it to the deck.
My young bloke has outfished me catching tuna, his first pinky last week and the black arse yesterday.
We got the boat as a '"*ck it" kind of thing to live while we are young and it was such a good decision.

WC future is dark n gloomy....
Submitted by timboon on Fri, 2023-05-19 10:36Gday fellas,
How does one post pictures on this site?
Just back from a Hunting trip in NZ, if anyone is interested i'll post my first ever pic on here like a big boy...
I couldnt be fucked reading the 200 new messages on the footy thread and WC do seem to deserve their own thread...
Jacky boy, I think if the hawks smoke WC this week then surely the hammer will come down on a few heads in different departments at the club...
List management
Medicos
Footy Dep all need a clean out...
Harley Reid the gun that will be next years no.1 pick must be hoping he doesnt end up in the west as Its going to be a lengthy rebuild this one me thinks!
My thoughts only of course!

Firearms E-petition link
Submitted by Rob H on Thu, 2023-05-18 12:14
Link to petition below, I'd encourage anyone with an interest in outdoor sports to sign, as the ongoing attacks on outdoor pursuits will continue.
I'd hazard a prediction that not that far in the future, bows and spearguns will also be subject to such licencing and restrictions.
The people who are putting this shit together are those who have no connection to these pursuits and their thinking is "I can't see why they need it"?

Ceiling Patching Question
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Sun, 2023-05-07 17:55I need a new exhaust fan in my room but the hole is 300mm and I want an inline fan which only needs a 280mm cutout.. They left the cutout above the hole but am I better off cutting a square bit of gyprock secured to batons and taping the seams rather than reinstalling the 300mm cutout and just plastering the circular seam.

First Baldy
Submitted by Pob on Mon, 2023-05-01 14:04Went out Nor on Sunday, me in my tinny and a mate in his. Hit our regular snapper spot for first light and got the burley pumping, I landed a few keeper size snaps and then the small sharks turned up, weren't taking hooked fish but lost a dozen rigs to them. My mate didn't get any snapper but some nice SBTs decided to make them selves at home in his trail, got 3 then decided to go abit deeper. He landed 1 dhu just before I got there and another while we were drifting next to each other, he buggered off home so I gave it a couple of extra drops and landed my first baldy, pretty average conditions but still a great trip for both of us

CMAP Reveal Thoughts
Submitted by Happy Hooker on Fri, 2023-04-21 11:49HI All
Got myself a Lowrance HDS9 live over Easter during runout sale at BCF , old chart plotter was a 14 year old 5 inch Lowrance LMS 525 so bit of an upgrade but still sitting hooked up on dash as spare...
Live comes with standard CMAP which looks fine , just seeing if anyone uses the CMAP Reveal and if its worth the $300 splurge for the Reveal WA coast map .
Have googled about and seen a bit on FW site by Jackfrost a while ago , seems somewhat limited ( I do Hillarys metro and Lancelin to Jurien mainly ) but curious around any updated personal experience and thoughts.
Cheers

Denham question
Submitted by Bradmac73 on Thu, 2023-04-20 14:11
Hi all,
Heading to Shark Bay in June as we do each year, staying in Denham. Been there a number of times before and go ok catching Pink and Black Snapper which is all good, but reading through posts on here and seeing some you tube vids I've seen lots big Bluebone caught. We've come across small models of these in the rocky shallows occasionally but nothing of size. Any advice on the type of depth or ground profile more likeyly to hold these in the bay? Also seen some good Rankins caught, so again any advice on the type of ground for these appreciated. Found plenty of reefy broken ground in different areas to the north of the channel but all seems to just be loaded with Pinks, and I'd like to try target something different.
Appreciate any info or advice

Millions upon millions of triops- freshwater crabs breeding in every puddle and wheel rut. Station manager hasn't seen them in 12 years. Bungarras were so fat.
