Cricket season
Submitted by lachieH on Sat, 2014-10-11 22:45hi everyone. Got my ride cricket match of the season starting tomorrow. Bowling at number 3, batting at number 5. I am actually a way better batsman than bowler, the line-up is in random order. My correct age-group according to the district even though I am 14 is under 14's (I don't know why) but my club is very short in numbers and this year we only have 3 junior teams and 3 senior teams. So I'm in year 8 and I'm playing in under 17's (im facing year 11's pace bowling, which isn't exactly my idea of fun if you get sit by a bumper (which I have never had happen to me) but I love the challange). It's only my second year of playing cricket, I am a late starter. Last year as my first season I played 2 age groups above in under 15's but averaging 8 runs (which is actually pretty high seeing as though you get automatically retired after 40 balls). My top score was 22. I finished the season with 11 wickets in 8 games as a medium-fast bowler.
Anyway that's enough about me. Is anyone else starting another cricket season or follow 20/20 big bash? Or does anybody follow the NBL closely? It would be great to know how everyone else follows the sports once footy is finished!

EDIT: sorry if there is random words in there, the iPads autocorrect mixed with the small keyboard typing can make funny words sometimes!

Flares - Old Stock
Submitted by Jason P on Sat, 2014-10-11 17:11After going to the Mandurah Boat Show I replaced a number of Safety stickers on my boat and realised that my Flares were out of Date by 3 months, So went to a couple of Local Boating shops won't mention the names and found one shop had Flares that were Made in January and the other in July.
3 months old Stock is understandable but 9 months is pushing it as they only last 3 years.
Best to check the dates before buying :)

Boat downgrade for house deposit, recommendations.
Submitted by Josh on Sat, 2014-10-11 13:56HI Guys,
I am thinking of downgrading the Trailblazer to put a bit of money into the house deposit, but I dont think I could do without a boat.
I have always had aluminium boats, was either thinking of getting a big open tinny, like a makocraft truck or maybe getting a rib?
Anybody owned a rib? Are there any extra costs assoiated with a rib over an aluminum boat? Extra maintenence on pontoons? Are they actually a nicer ride? I have seen a few around the 10-15k mark in the 5-6m range. Still wanting something good to shoot over to rotto, but still be able to pull a skier and pots, along with free diving for crays.
Cheers,
Josh

Moped has no spark
Submitted by dakka on Sat, 2014-10-11 09:31Howdy all
i need some help, my young blokes moped stopped on him last night, so after having a quick look this morning I can see that it is not getting any spark. I replaced the spark plug with a new one but still have no spark, any suggestions as to what to do now or what to look at, any input would be most appreciative.
Thanks
Darryl

Great White - cage diving in South Africa
Submitted by bod on Thu, 2014-10-09 23:50Amazing up-close photo of great white shark while cage diving in South Africa
Amanda Brewer, 25, travelled halfway across the world to volunteer as a scientific data collector for White Shark Africa - an organization dedicated to animal conservation and eco-tourism. Brewer, a lifelong shark enthusiast and amateur photographer was enjoying a cage dive in Mossel Bay off Seal Island hoping to catch a glimpse of the much maligned sea creatures.

The female shark was lured with two fish heads being pulled on a rope around the cage

Brewer photographed the graceful sea creature from the safety of a partially submerged cage

She said the shark came out of nowhere, and she was simply at the right place and at the right time with her trusty GoPro at the ready.

Go pro vs cheaper action cams
Submitted by Mattyb84 on Tue, 2014-10-07 08:53Hey guys I have been looking into setting up a few cameras on the bar work of my boat and was wondering if anyone could shed some light into why go pros are 3 times the price of other action cams. I've looked at the specs on a few different brands and they all seem to do the same thing other than the go pro can go down to 40 m and the rest are only 10. That doesn't worrie me as I don't dive is there any thing else I should no or are you just paying for a name. Cheers for reading and look forward to your input

ANY IDEAS
Submitted by Belly88 on Sat, 2014-10-04 06:36So I've had this problem for around 4 years now and I'm hopeing some fresh minds might be able to help me out.
I have a 2002 100 series cruiser runs like a dream basically have never had anything wrong with it at all.....except.. It uses coolent quite quickly, well to quickly anyways. There is no visible leaks, there is never any overheating or anything that even slightly makes me think anything is wrong..
For the last 4 years every time I get a service my mercanic has pressure tested the cooling system and checked every were and can't seem to find a problem.. What spins me out is that after 4 years you would think there would be some sign of something happening.. As stupid as it sounds I just want something to go wrong so I can fix this issue as it's been 4 years of stressing every trip I do, that and always having to buy coolent..
Has anyone ever had this problem or know what it could be.. If not what is my best bet to find what the problem is? Maybe a specialised radiator joint?
Anyways thanks in advance would love to solve this issue..
Cheers

beach launch trailer mods
Submitted by Deleted on Fri, 2014-10-03 18:03just about to start my beach launching adventures around WA ( sort of ) and iam thinking that a draw bar extension is the best way to keep my colorado semi dry. my question to the beach launch gurus is how have you gone about your extension, bearing in mind it i would like to be able to simply remove extension and go to normal trailer set up once retreval is complete. also my boat is a 5.5m plate ali with 90hp 4 stroke
if you have any pics this would be awesome to see. cheers in advance

Mobile Phone Bill
Submitted by iana on Wed, 2014-10-01 18:19Just wondering if others when they receive their mobile phone bill, have a charge for "Non Direct Debit Surcharge", this sounds a bit suspect to me.
Its like if you go into a shop and buy using cash, and they add on a charge for not using your credit card.
Any thoughts on this?

Trailer theft
Submitted by sea-kem on Tue, 2014-09-30 11:28Hi all,
On Sunday my personal fitness trainer had her trailer stolen with all her fitness gear inside. She's only a young lass trying hard to run a small business and some scumbag has halted this. Anyway it's a 6 x 4 boxed in trailer with STEP INTO LIFE plastered onto the sides. I would say it's more than likely in some druggo's shed by now being stripped down. Inside were dark blue plastic coated dumbells and boxing bags etc. It was stlen from St James on Sunday morning so if anyone saw anything like this being towed around on Sunday a head's up would be great. This has really pissed me off as now someone else trying hard to make an honest living has been hamstrung. I'd love to give these pricks a flurry of what I've been doing at training for the past year.

Why do you go for your AFL team?
Submitted by timboon on Mon, 2014-09-29 23:44I was thinking how fortunate I am to enjoy the success of the Hawks recent form being a supporter but it made me think people must have some stories of why it is they go for their team...
Here's mine,
Small town, 400 people and as a kid I used to go Yabbying with a mate in a blow up row boat in the little lake in the middle of town. His dad liked the Hawks so my mate followed his old man... I thought he was pretty cool being a year older and having his own boat so I chose the Hawks as well.
I'm 78 born so by the time I was getting into footy the Hawks were in a dominant era and it stuck...
Dads a Pie supporter so thank fuck he wasn't as cool as my mate with the boat!!!
It will be a sad day when Mitchell, Bourgoyne, Hodge hang up the boots but hopefully its after the threpeat!

Apple IOS 8.2
Submitted by Dale on Sun, 2014-09-28 08:49 Took the plunge and downloaded this yesterday to my pad and what a bloody mistake. Opera is a cluster now with the bookmarks moved to the right, the task bar auto hides, the favorites drop down thingy stays taking up a 3rd of the screen unless you click on the bookmarks icon again, then it goes away. The only good thing from it is the smileys option on the keyboards. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!

2015 AFL ladder at seasons end
Submitted by timboon on Sun, 2014-09-28 08:06Gday Fellas,
As the season is now over & the doom and gloom of the no footy weekends is ahead of us I thought I'd ask you if you can be bothered to throw your 2015 guestimate of what you think the ladder will look like at seasons end next year...
Here is mine
Hawks
Swans
Port ( especially with P Ryder included )
Freo
Roos
Ess
Adel
I'm not sure who will finish the 8th spot but I guess its out of these teams
Rich
Geel
GC
Bris ( especially if they land Dayne Beams they could have one of the best mid fields in the comp with Rich back also )
Coll
Geel
Then the cellar dwellers
Carl
WB
GWS
Melb
St K
So really not much change from this year...
Geelong to slide, Bris to climb is prolly my 2 bigger movers...

your v8 diesel economy
Submitted by roddo on Thu, 2014-09-25 18:46Hi All
Im looking at buying a new 2nd hand vehicle to replace my current 4.8L nissan patrol the patrol is great but I need something with better range as the patrol is a pet/gas I don't get the best range out of the tanks 4-500km.
can anyone give me some of there economy figures mainly interested in those who tow over the 2.5-3T range as my boat weights 3.3T. we are looking at doing several trips up north next year so its time for a change.
the options im looking at are
4.5L turbo v8 cruiser probably a workmate or a troop carrier
6.5l Brunswick diesel in a patrol or cruiser
7.3L F250
my budget is 30-40K i would really like the F250 but most are around the 60 mark as it must be a dual cab.
what are your thoughts?
thanks
Rod
