Anyone used or bought one of these underwater cameras??
Submitted by scano on Mon, 2012-12-10 20:45Just wondering if anyone has purchased or used one of these?
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=330835456071&globalID=EBAY-A
thinking of forking out for one to check and see what fish and life are on the lumps when we head out deeo on bodies boat.
my question is are they relatively clear ?
and does anyone find them effective for similar sort of uses?
any other suggestions for under water cameras to be used for the same purpose around the $300 mark would be appreciated. Basically wanting to lower down a camera and get some live video to see if there is much activity
cheers

Practical joke
Submitted by Noxious on Thu, 2012-12-06 14:33Hey fellas
Thought some of you may appreciate this one.
Some of you may be aware that motackle.com.au does a jackpot daily. Me and a mate check it, and have told each other that if we see the others name come up we would let each other know.
I was having a stinker of a day at work yesterday and through comes an e-mail from a mate. He had taken a screenshot of the motackle jackpot from their main page, except he had photoshopped my name into it! and did a bloody good job at that.
So I e-mailed motackle without checking the website... then realised that the website had another name on it! I'd been had! Lucky it was the arvo here, and the shop was closed when I had called, otherwise I would have looked like an even bigger goose! talking on the phone about winning...
After I realised I sent a quick e-mail explaining that I had been had on in a big way, and subsequently my mate would no longer be allowed onto my boat. haha
My mate gave me heaps (probably felt a bit bad too)...
'Bout lunch time today I went onto the site to have a look and bam. The good folks at motackle decided to give me a $100 free voucher because it was so funny and I had been gotten so badly. Cheers guys appreciate it.
All in all, it was well played by my mate, i copped a fair bit of embarrassment and scored myself $100 in fishing gear thanks to the folks at motackle having a good sense of humour!
Not too bad eh?
I think this HAS to be the excuse I was looking for to buy myself a new Saltiga?!

Cheers,
Alex

Dual battery install (vehicle not boat) - recommendations
Submitted by Ben Derecki on Wed, 2012-12-05 20:01Want to get a second battery installed in the Prado for running fridges etc off when the vehicle is not being driven. While I understand you can do it yourself I don't have a blue clue when it comes to this sort of thing. Anyone got any recommendations on someone who can do a cheap but good install?

Chrissie pressies
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Wed, 2012-12-05 08:34Well, seems to be that time of the year again, dunno about you but I much prefer to online shop rather than deal with the masses, queues and irate people in shopping centres. I'm a bit of a see something and buy it person, but been looking online lately and nothing much is appealing to me. Thought I'd put it out there and see what some of you guys are getting your missus's for Chrissie this year, apart from the obvious books/jewellery/lingerie or whatever, anyone found anything cool out there that will keep the other half impressed with your 'thoughtfulness' ;)

Rottnest
Submitted by mrwinta on Mon, 2012-12-03 18:21Can anyone tell me when do you have to pay the fee for Rotto? meaning at what point should you have to pay? as an example if I were to take my boat to the west end and fish for the day then go into one of the bays and anchor up for the night so i could go out and fish the FADS in the morning and return home.... all with out connecting to a mooring or landing on the shore, just staying on the boat.

Another storm casualty
Submitted by sea-kem on Mon, 2012-12-03 11:26Was up at Seabird on the weekend scoping out some fishing spots when we came upon this washed up cray boat. Speaking to a local they were going to bring in an excavator last night to dig a trench and hopefully pull it out on high tide with a tug. Luckily no damage to the prop or rudder. I think the storm surge was so big it just washed over the reef on the right of pics.

What happens when the Weathers $h1t
Submitted by milsey on Sun, 2012-12-02 14:33Well with uni done and the weather not being friendly I was left no option but to chuck a few old jarrah planks together into a fresh rod rack. Few hours of sanding, cutting, drilling screwing and oiling and she was done. Pretty happy with it and much better than the crappy placcy ones that I was previously using.

Water trampolines ?
Submitted by perth fisher on Sun, 2012-12-02 11:16I was looking for some water based activities for the kids when we have picnics down at the river-point walter etc ,maybe for also down at dunsborough as well
dont want something to tow behind a boat, just something you can peg/rope into a spot on a beach
I have seen kids playing on water trampolines in movies where they have usa holiday camps at big lakes, and was wondering if people have seen these for sale in perth ?
I assume that it would need the tube to be made from some sailcloth type material that wont rip
we have kayaks and a dinghy, so thought one of these would also be fun ?

Decisions, decisions , decisions
Submitted by carnarvonite on Wed, 2012-11-28 18:25Opened the freezer this morning to get some fillets out to thaw for tea and had to make a decision on what to grab.
Should it be goldband snapper, robinson sea bream, pearl perch, dhufish ---yes dhufish [ son got one on his last trip on the wetliner], radiant cod or just common old pink snapper.
After much consideration decided on radiant cod and it was bloody delicious, sorry no pics because it didn't last that long.

Pe3 reel suggestions
Submitted by scano on Tue, 2012-11-27 19:45G'day all,
After just having sold my little tyrnos 10 to a fellow site member I am in the market for an upgrade. It's to go on an xzoga taka ba100-60 pe 1-3 rod. Now my little tyrnos did me well but I am after something a little more specky and with some more bling.
my thoughts so far are
saltiga z20 overhead star drag
perhaps a jigging master power spell?
shimano tranx
will mainly be used for 20-40 m bottom fishing with baits chasing snapper and Dhuies ect.
my main preference thus far would be the saltiga as I do really like daiwa products but I am open to better suggestions.
