i got my starlo caught between a caboard and my starlo broke :( thats the last time im getting a 1pce rod -.-

could you guys give me some advice for a rod that is $100 or under (not secondhand) is there any good prices for the trions? im interested in the trion for sure what else what about the new starlo classics ?

oh yeah and im looking for a rod that is 2pce and 2to 4 kilo and ariound 7 foot.

i would appreciate any help at all cheers.

Got given a 2spd diawa saltist 30 for a present and chasing ideas and advise on rod and line size (braid) to suit this reel. hoping to use for bottom bashing/jigging in the south west.Not worried on the price just give me your opinions please.

Everyone is very quite about this competition. It cant be just me being excited about it. Who else is taking part?

I have installed the new hds10, it is a great little unit. a questoin for the guys that use them, have you had a problem with the sounder not reading in water below 1-1.5m I wass using the 50khz setting and only traveling at about 5 knots.

with the unit in deeper water it worked really well, I could see the bottom at about 30knts, much better than the old unit. i havent changed the settings from factory except the sensitivity down abit to reduce the clutter.

Does anyone know who to speak to directly about the requirements to become a licenced charter operator in WA. I know from past experience assuming of coarse the boat is within spec that to do charters you need an unrestricted coxswains and a cherterers liscence

I can find the specific requirements on the DPI website

hi guys , providing the weather is reasonable me and my usual crew will be targeting those big noahs at the wrecks / barges off rotto on saturday and sunday coming we've done a bit of this before in carnarvon/ mackeral islands / karratha so im sharpening the jobu's and uncoiling the wire as we speak if you see us out there in the 26 seafox that's what we'll be doing ,i'd love to catch and release a big mako!!   cheers

As a result I have a 24kg plow taking up space in the garage.

Would suit for a heavy o'niter if you wanted to leave a trailer boat in the water etc

i was goin to post this as a reply to one of allrounders comments, but fishwrecked was slow last night and it wouldnt post, but this probably deserves its own thread anyway.

how long do you reckon it will take before fisheries put some kind of ban or restrictions on the breeding sambos aggregations?

around this time of year, when the reports of sharks being so thick at the ags, that hardly a hooked fish is landed because of them. not only that, but fisheries have put a 2 month ban on demersals at this particular time of year, as it is when the majority of demersals come in closer to shore to breed, thus making them susceptible to more boat fishermen, will they do the same to the sambos to protect what is/has become literally a world class sportfishery?

more so, when will us recs and charters start drawing the line as to when we go out and target them, knowing full well that they are breeding, and that the chances of landing one or two are severley decreased, as a result of the sharks? i think the onus should be on EVERY skipper (including charter skippers), to start thinking a bit more conservatively, and when the reports of 50+ fish hooked, but only 3 landed, make the call to give it a rest. perhaps if we dont make the pro-active descisions, you-know-who will make them for us. breeding fish wont breed if they are dead (or severely disrupted).

some are saying (and I totally agree with) that the shark numbers out there are increasing at greater numbers, every year. they're not dumb. i was out at the southern barges a few weeks ago, and there was 17 other boats out there. the sharks know when and where to get an easy feed (a hooked sambo/amber), and it was realistically only a matter of time before this became a problem.  

i guess there is also the possibility of starting to target the sharks too, but out of the sharks out there - great whites, bronzies, and makos, the whites are protected (GGGGRRRRRRR....), bronze whalers are protected over a certain size (1.8m), and WTF are you goin to do with a 4m mako shark? (although adventure bound yesterday, the host kept 2 "good sized eating" makos...). plus, you are goin to require some serious gear to handle the size of some of them out there.

what are all your thoughts on the above?

Hi everyone I have just ordered a shimano stradic ci4 4000 from the states while the dollar is so good and now am looking for a rod to pair it with. I want to use the rod for soft plastics and lures as well as snapper fishing and am thinking to run 14 or 20 pound braid on it ( suggestions about braid also? ). any suggestions from anyone who has one of these reels or who knows what rod to pair it with would be muchly appreciated.

during the fishing ban here and perth i was looking at heading up to shark bay for a fishing charter (dont have a boat) with a few ppl from work. 

only going up for a few days but i was wondering what would be my best bet for landbased fishing after the charter - beach, carnarvon jetty  for afternoon, night and mornings or any other information you have.

it will be my first time up north so any information you have will be helpful.

also if u know any good one day charter operators up there would be great.

just got a Penn 310 GTI on ebay from the states 2nd hand 70$ delivered.. seemed liek a good diea.. wondering what people would reccomend spooling it with. im leaning more towards mono- 50/80lb as i mainly want it for trolling, tuna maybe some macks... braid doesnt have as much stretch they say? should put 100m 80lb mono backing then 50lb braid with a 80lbmono  leader? suggestions?

Hey guys, just wondering if anybody has heard of or own a Formosa boat? I know they're made in Queensland and look very sturdy, plus they are also very competively priced compared to other boats i've looked at. I just need to know what the ride quality is like cause i'm very interested in one.

Fished at mosman park dog beach in front of the reef last night and got 1 yellow fin whitinng , pj shark , sting ray 4 ft bronzie! will atach photos asap! Looking for more beach fishing spots??
