Question - Sea Sickness
Submitted by Paully on Thu, 2015-07-16 14:31 At the risk of providing some ammo for those inclined to take the P155 out of others
.... I'm curious about a situation I find myself in. I can stand all day on a boat in all sorts of open water - no dramas, but within a short time whilst seated on a boat i.e. tinny I get that feelling, leading up to a spew, even in good water with the slightest swell. Does anybody else experience this? Curious as to why this would be the case.

Fishing Community in Exmouth
Submitted by jutt on Thu, 2015-07-16 08:51
Just wanted to share some good vibes with the wider fishing Community out there.
We are staying in Exmouth for a break, the weather has been less than helpful so getting out has been a bit of a challenge. Finally had a good crack yesterday west of the Cape, never hit the water till 3:15 and travelled for a couple of hours, it was pretty rough and the last of the charter boats had headed in. Two other boats were with us by chance we were all heading for home, whales were everywhere, this required all three boats to manoeuvre out of each other's way at times, great cooperation. Light was fading fast and just about to pull the lines in when my young bloke landed this beauty, a great fight and top fun. We had trouble landing the boat at Tantabiddy, we had some help from some patient guys to get us rolling.
Back at the caravan park the Mackie created a heap of interest and scales were called- had to go around the park and ask, some great boaties from down south called in a local from Exmouth with his scales.
What a great bunch of people we have had the privilege of meeting here, a breath of fresh air.
Also a big thanks to the guys at Exy Tackle World who sold the young bloke the new rod a couple of hours earlier!
A PB for the boat, 1.47m and 23.5kg.

In your experience which species start pushing the line classes
Submitted by br3nno on Wed, 2015-07-15 23:08I'm trying to gauge what line class I need depending on the fish I chase :) (sorry for the poorly worded title too)
For example salmon will be pushing the limit on 10lb line.
What can you say for 20, 30, 40 and 50lbs.

Submitted by Matt Grundl on Wed, 2015-07-15 18:02Hey all as winters kicked in and im stuck to landbased fishing ive tried my luck at getting a few yabbies. just wandered if anyone knows much about yabbies caught in the metro area... ive found myself a few spots where I have caught heaps but all seem to be quite small and I havent kept any for chewing yet but the numbers seem to be there. . Is it too cold for the bigguns to come out or are they just not there... any help would be appreciated.

Busselton - Beach and Jetty
Submitted by Matt T on Wed, 2015-07-15 11:26G'day all,
Heading down to Busselton this weekend with the Mrs and kids, wondering how the jetty is fishing?
It would be good to get some tailor of the beach in the arvo's too if they are around.
I'll take some squid jigs for the jetty and hopefully the kids can get into some herring or gardies from there also.
Anyone got any reports from the jetty recently?
Cheers

Approximately what percentage of the load does a rod take?
Submitted by br3nno on Tue, 2015-07-14 22:02Let's say a reel has a max drag of 5kg, would a 10-15kg fish be needed to reach that limit because the rod is taking most the load?
:)

Jurien Bay
Submitted by lachieH on Mon, 2015-07-13 20:09Hi everyone, I am going to Jurien Bay for the whole of tomorrow and Wednesday and am wondering how the fishing off the main jetty is going? I am staying at the Jurien Bay Tourist Park and have heard good reports from the jettys on the beach there.
I am thinking of putting a mulie out hoping for a tailor or mulloway or something big, also some herring and stuff with a smaller bait on the same rig and a squid jig for some squid. Is that a good plan?
also how are the squid going, are there many around currently?
thanks,
lachie

Cooking squid
Submitted by lachieH on Mon, 2015-07-13 20:03hi everyone, I caught some squid from Rockingham yesterday, and it tasted nice but I know it could have been better. The squid itself tasted beautiful but the batter wasn't so great, we medium fried (nearly deep but a little bit was poking up in the pan) with a mixture of flour, cracked pepper and salt. I made it into rings and used the tentacles as well.
is there better ways of cooking squid?
thanks,
lachie

Woody Boat Ramp Car Break In
Submitted by gib77 on Mon, 2015-07-13 17:21Left car overnight at Woodmans Point ramp Sunday while wife and I went fishing, then stayed overnight at Rotto.
Key barrel smashed in, car torn apart, didn't actually take much. I know this isn't uncommon, but just reporting really. Might have to think about joining CPBC, next door, about $450 a year though I think. Pretty exy, any members out there wanna comment on whether they reckon it's worth it?

Stupid Bolt Cutters
Submitted by C.P on Sun, 2015-07-12 17:03Thought i had a good fish this morning. Rod bucked in the holder, line peeled off the reel & i hooked into a heavy fish. Felt like a Dhuie for a moment, but then there was something not quite right with the way it was fighting. Still it was a big fish. I didnt even think of N/W blowie till it hit the surface. Grunting like a pig & grinding its teeth. The bloody thing was nearly 80 cm long. Jees I hate them. Havent caught one for a long time but had a hook bitten off not long after this one so probably that was another. Did I mention that I hate them?
Any one else caught one lately?
