GP1971F - C-Map card - Contour line information - Bathymetric C-Map Data
Submitted by stevo5858 on Tue, 2019-12-31 16:17Hi All,
Recently installed a Furuno GP1971F into the boat. Im still working on it but so far its ok. One thing though im wondering is the lack of contour information showing on the unit. When you zoom into the 3 Mile reef area for example, you dont really see any contour info esp when comparing it to Navionics on my phone. Just wondering if I have the set up not quite right / some setting not on correctly? I was thinking of maybe getting the CMap Bathymetric data for Perth in the hope I may get more data?? Anyone gone down this route?? Don't really want to set up another screen like an Ipad to run Navionics but I guess that is an option.....but seems crazy after spend ~2k on the new unit to still need some other device.
Cheers for any help / info.
BTW im running the Aust-NZ data pack from C MAP

588 connector pins
Submitted by Jonstruct on Thu, 2019-12-26 15:23Just wondering where everyone goes for furuno repairs? I’m usually NOR but will be down south for next couple of weeks. Two of the connector pins on the unit have snapped and now not powering up.
As a short term fix, does anyone know there I could purchase a furuno to simrad adaptor? I run a nss7 for gps.
Cheers.

M260 swap TM260
Submitted by bsir on Sat, 2019-11-09 09:39Hi,
Anyone want to swap a Furuno plugged TM260 for an M260 (with wetbox)?
Im changing things on my boat and have pulled out the M260 that was connected to my Furuno FCV585. Ive now installed a M265 connected to a Garmin, but am going to connect a TM260 to my 585.
If anyone is interested in a swap, let me know. I briught it 4 years ago second hand, but it has been good for me. I have read at 300+m with it.
It works fine, just not suited to transmon mounting and i dont have room for 2 wetboxes.

Transducer selection and beam angles
Submitted by Mitch Westy on Tue, 2019-07-23 07:16Hey team was wondering if anyone around perth has a ss164 running with a furuno 587. How does it perform? Just bought a second hand 5.8 westy with an old in hull that doesn' work with my furuno sounder so i need to upgrade.
After some research I am still undecided on a transducer selection. I do 90% of my diving and fishing between 20-40 metres so i am thinking it may be beneficial to go with the ss175HW. Much bigger beam angle then the ss164 (25 degree band width). Apparently they work great with furuno and is an exceptional picture. I love diving small bombies out in the 30's but you pretty much have to drive straight over the top of one to find it with a transducer like a tm260 or ss164. Maybe the ss175HW will deliver a higher success rate of finding these coral bombies.
I've spent many days driving around 20-30m looking for good diving ground and wonder how many i have driven a few metres past but not been able to see them because of the beam angle (old boat use to have a tm260 with furuno 587). At 30 metres the tm260 will only be making a footprint of about 3.3 metres which doesmt seem to be much. I'm all about putting time into finding new spots i just want to maximise my chances of finding these little nuggets in the deep. There' always good fish and crays between 20-40M and that's what i like diving.
Any thoughts would be great!

588 Interference..?
Submitted by Rowanhill on Wed, 2019-05-22 15:07Guys
Got an issue with my newly installed 588 with an in hull SS164/20 low profile 1 KW transducer. Been working through it with Rhyss at Taylors-legend...just putting it out there to see if anyone has had something similar and can shed some light to help speed my recovery..
HF- awesome, zero issues, works great
LF- as per photo..pic was only in 100 m but doesn't matter if 150-500 M..reads bottom great, just not fish as interference is there unless gain is on 1. Im up with all settings etc, so on top of all those- more hoping someone has had the same issue. Tried all different things, this weekend plan to run an independant power lead to its own battery up the front. To help, I have tried .....its not a boat near by with same frequency., turning off all devices/motor, not a faulty transducer as btm reads great - not broken as it would if faulty. etc. etc....the only thing i can think of is i do run a solar panel..anyone have any issues with one ?? If seperate power doesnt fix it this weekend, im up for any suggestions or thoughts
thanks

Transducer install
Submitted by donlovesfishing on Sat, 2019-04-06 18:23Hi fellow fishos.. been have a few dramas with my transducer install. It’s a p66 and is installed about 10-15 mm below the bottom of the hull. Wen I trim my motor up, it seems to get a better pic but as soon as the motor is trimmed down then there is a lot of clutter on the screen like bubbles. Any ideas of whether to put the transducer lower or higher to clear it up.. thanks I’m advance..

new Furuno troubles
Submitted by Pedro the fisherman on Fri, 2019-03-08 08:52Hi all chasing info on Furuno Nav Net tzt 2 12inch . I have recently upgraded to tzt2 as i had a accident with my NAV NET VX2 . Im running with a furuno 50/200 1t transducer which feeds to a mb1100 unit then goes across to a DFF1 BLACK BOX which
eventually sends info to the tzt2 via a ethernet cable . The ethernet cable is now outdated and needs a cross over cable which i cannot find online .So ive unplugged the DFF1 and plugged the mb1100 straight into the back of the tzt2 .Using this last Saturday i could not get a decent picture even with full gain 10 on high freq. My operation manual says they are compatable but im having no luck ,any help would be appreciated.

What image quality should I expect?
Submitted by Roughas on Fri, 2019-01-25 17:25G'day all. I'm running a 585 with a 1kw transducer shooting through the hull of my Penguin. I'm not sure what sort of image quality I should be getting. It gives me a picture at most speeds/water conditions. I haven't got any pics to show you guys for comparison to your own units ( I'll get some next trip), however, if you've got some photos at varying speeds would you mind posting 'em? As far as I can see the wet box arrangement is pretty sound and the hull around the t'ducer is free of any turbulence causing stuff. For all I know the image I'm getting could be brilliant - just wondering. Thanks in advance, John.

Bottom lock what was I don't wrong?
Submitted by timboon on Thu, 2019-01-10 06:35Jumped on the inlaws boat today to throw some pots in, on the way back had a jig for an hour and buggered if I could get the bottom lock function working on their new 628 furuno.
Had it in dual frequency, had it in B L and was using the shift to find the depth but it wasn't showing I was dialed into bottom lock, I certainly didn't have the bottom lock picture coming up as flat bottom on the left screen.
I'm sure it's something simple but for whatever reason I couldn't get it reading like my 627.
Anyone got any suggestions as to what I was or wasn't doing?

Furuno 588 accufish and rezboost with a p66
Submitted by Craig1987 on Sat, 2018-10-20 12:36Hi guys
I have a furuno 588 with the p66 been playing around trying to get the reboost and accufish going with the p66. I have tried turning gain and range onto auto and have 600w selected in transducer menu but reboost and accufish are still not highlighted in the menu and cant switch on.
Dont want to have to buy another transducer just to get it as I had the tm260 and think the p66 is better -100m.
Any ideas?
Cheers

WTB C-Map SD card NT + for WA or Aust wide
Submitted by stevo5858 on Mon, 2018-09-17 21:31Just after a C-Map NT+ or MAX SD card that covers Aust or WA for a Furuno GP7000 plotter/sounder. Hoping someone out there has a SD card from an old unit they have and would sell to me.
Cheers steve.
Just a few more sounder shots
Submitted by Riles on Mon, 2018-06-18 20:48G’day guys,
Below are a couple of the sounder shots I got last Friday when looking for some new ground. This spot produced snapper, dhueys, nanny’s plus your other standard reefys as well as the sambo below.
What are you blokes thoughts on the second sounder shot. I drifted it a couple of times and to me looks potentially like a 5m rise with a bit of an overhang, unless the fish were schooled hard up against it. Would be interesting to here your thoughts.

furuno sound pic
Submitted by Blacked Out on Mon, 2018-06-18 15:08Hi Guys,
Recently upgraded to a FCV 587 with a P66 transducer. Found a spot of hillarys and wanting your thoughts on the ground. There seems to be a small rise of a 1-2 meters prior
to sounder showing whats circled in red, Is it reef/coral sturture ontop of a hard bottom?
I had the sounder in auto/fishing mode as I am still learning to read the bottom. Anyone got any tips on settings if I switch to manual mode.
Thanks in advance for your comments.
