Submitted by Paul N on Wed, 2011-06-22 20:57Short film of us hooked up to a black marlin in early April this year . May be of interest to those who haven't had a billfish to the side of the boat and would like to know what its like . I must mention that John ( the tagman ) has de hooked quite a few marlin on our trips and despite knowing what he is doing he still gets in the way of the bill every now and then lol .
here is the link http://www.youtube.com/user/fishoutwide#p/u hope you enjoy.

Getting in the water a Big Black Marlin Video
Submitted by SailFishQuepos on Fri, 2011-04-29 08:53Had a great day out fishing today and even got a little crazy jumping out and getting some in the water and under the water video of a Black Marlin. I've never taken one out and killed one to weigh it, but I was thinking around 300 pounds, so chime in and let me know if I'm close! Enjoy the video, and if you like it, click the thumbs up in youtube!!!

Easter Salmon
Submitted by grantarctic1 on Tue, 2011-04-26 23:19Headed down to Hoptoun for 2 day over easter with the hope of some salmon. I knew it would be busy down there but was in shock to find all the car parks full, and the beaches packed with fisho's on sat. (later found out the fishing comp was on )
So i headed east until i found a beach with no one fishing. Ended up at East Munglinup half way to Esperance.
Found a nice gutter about 1 km up the beach and started a burley trail going. After an hour i had not even caught a herring and nearly gave up.
Then a very soft bite turned into a solid hook up and i soon had a 3kg salmon on the sand. It went off after that and i landed 10 salmon from 3kg to 5kg within 2 hours. I kept 3 of the smaller ones for a feed and let the rest go and left them on the bite.
I must say i'm pretty fussy when it comes to eating fish, but we cooked them up on the bbq and they were great, every one was full and none wasted.
I fished the next day at the five mile but it was very slow. My mated got busted up by some large sharks, landed a skippy and a big buff bream but that was all. It just seemed to shut down, not even a herring.
Hope ya like the vid, cheers Grant..

the way we surf fishing in north Jeddah
Submitted by Khaled on Mon, 2011-03-21 14:17this topic is espicially for cuthbad
ok
this is the way we surf fishing here in Jeddah "copy the links to see the pictures" :
1-
2- we put any object to prevent loosing the line .
3-
4- some times the amatures get like this injury

now this is how we prepare the bait :
1-
2-
3- fresh tuna emmm :D

4- we us big needle to insert the metal fishing line.

5-
6-
7-
8-
9- we place the first hook here

10-
11-

this is the final shape for the first hook

12- the second hook is placed here

13- the final shape for the second hook

16-
17- this is how it looks " final shape "

18- now the last preparation step... we tie the line like this

now, this is how we deliver the bait, " we do this because our sea is full of coral reefs " so we can't use the rods from the beach":

2-
3-
4-
5-
6- in this shape " if the winds is going west " do like this :

7- in this shape " if the winds going east " do like this :

8- in this shape " if the winds is going inside toward the sea " do like this:

9- use the bbq sticks around the bait to aviod loosing it:

10- the final shape:
this is one fish I cought it with this method :

I hope I get along with you guys and I am sure that I can make friends outside my country because I always do :D
