Submitted by Jody on Tue, 2014-12-16 18:32Recreational fisher party for Garry Lilley
Attention fellow Recreational Fishers !
We will be celebrating the life of Garry Lilley who passed away this week at short notice.
Party is Saturday 20th 12:00 @ Unit 6 #31 Peel road, O'conner
Garry has put countless unpaid hours into many aspects of recreational angling causes.
Come laugh and cry with like minded fishing people.
Light refreshments and some snacks will be supplied.
There will be some auction items on the day. You do not have to have been his friend to attend but a commensurate donation is more than welcome.
Our goal is to help his kids in this difficult financial time. ie. We want you support.
Text 'Fundraiser' 0412131958 for RSVP numbers please

Opinions/experiences please!
Submitted by Auslobster on Tue, 2014-12-16 00:45I seem to recall a thread from a few weeks ago regarding scams involving selling things and getting ripped off.
I'm selling a car on gumtree and have had an offer via email from a bloke on an oil rig in NZ, buying it as a graduation gift for his son in the NT, sight unseen.
He wants my bank details and once I receive the money via direct deposit he will organise a "courier agent" to pick up the car and sign the necessary paperwork. What could possibly be wrong here?

Yamaha Outboards Spark Plug Socket
Submitted by OLD BANGA on Mon, 2014-12-15 16:22For all those who have Yamaha outboards and would like to change your own spark plugs the socket you need is:
18mm x 1/2" 6Pt Thin/Deep Socket (with and outside diameter of no bigger than 25mm)
I purchased mine from Bolts-R-Us in Geraldton and the part number is 29-1124018B and the make is Dual Action.
Hope this helps.
Warthog Knife Sharpener
Submitted by Browndog on Sun, 2014-12-14 17:13Hi FW Crew, was thinking of getting one of the Warthog V Sharp knife sharpeners like the ones advertised on page 23 of the Saturday's West TV Guide magazine. I might even be able to get away with wrapping it up and putting it under the tree for her (but we all know who it's really for!)
Anyone have one or used one, are they any good? I know the best way is to sharpen with a good stone, but I am crap at it, and sick of taking my knives to my brother in law (butcher) or father in law (general all round old school crazy guy) to sharpen.
Cheers,
BD

Structure Scan - Sonar - 3D Type Sounders
Submitted by OLD BANGA on Sun, 2014-12-14 09:27Does anyone use or know much about the sounders currently on the market with "Side Structure Scan" providing a 3D image. are they any good, do they assist with identifying structure such as ledges, holes, bombies, etc, are they worth spending the extra dollars to purchase rather than just a normal sounder??????
Any opinions would be appreciated.
Just contemplating upgrading my JRC FF50 to one of the newer type sounders, looking at the Lowrance range that include "Structure Scanning".
Old Banga!

Seabird beach launch
Submitted by DBZ on Thu, 2014-12-11 20:36I'm heading up to seabird on 27th dec and was hoping someone can give me some info on beach launching there - I heard a new road was proposed but not sure if this has been completed yet?
I'm launching an 18ft pacemaker and have done plenty of launching at Lano and wedge but have never actually been to seabird.
Also if anyone has access to a tractor there or ledge point then I'd be happy to show my appreciation in crayfish!
Cheers

Jone's Tackle
Submitted by EL SYD on Wed, 2014-12-10 12:53Hello people.
I'm currently in Brisbane doing sweet FA so had to go visit a local tackle shop.
Jone's Tackle in the middle of Brissy I spose, about 11 km from my hotel a short taxi ride.
Has quite a bit of gear friendly staff and nice owners, bought some Smith hammer head poppers and some of their sickbaits while I was there.... dont worry left some up on the wall
They let me walk around the shop taking pics no drama,
Just love tackle shops, dont matter who you are everyone just loves fishing.

The first test match
Submitted by lachieH on Tue, 2014-12-09 12:20its great to see Warner make his hundred, it's probably going to be his most memorable test hundred ever. But it's not great to see Michael Clarke re-do his back issue at 60 not out, he is allowed it come back out after they all of any wicket but the commentators seem to think that it may be a few weeks until he may recover. But it may be unrelated to his old injury.

Submitted by Deleted on Sun, 2014-12-07 21:23 so to keep the peace
i passed on fishing this weekend to build the young bloke a sand pit. i no its got sweet FA to do with fishing but iam releasing my built up DEMERSAL BAN tension
. started of being a simple pile of sand and ended up being a limestone fortress.
easy part although there is 20 x 20kg blocks in there and 20kg bags of sand
easy so far
should have gone fishing
all worth it in the end

Bunbury cut, navigable ?
Submitted by Coastrunner on Sat, 2014-12-06 15:36Hi guys, great forum with lots of good advice. What are your thoughts on navigating the cut at Bunbury. I have previously dropped dropped my 4.8M Coast Runner in at the Australind ramp and headed out through the cut, sometimes had to wait to check how the sets are forming, occasionally had to run in on the back of wave but never had a drama. But I haven't been through for a fair while and I know there is a warning out regarding the bars in and outside the cut, also a mate of mine with a 6M Assassin says it is too risky. The kids are coming out with me now so I generally only go out in good conditions, I expect its worse when the tide is running out against the sea breeze, how deep is it just outside, is it OK to use with caution or should I just use the town ramps in case condions change while we are out.
