Fremantle Harbour Crunch
Submitted by Swompa on Sat, 2014-05-31 09:11Reading thewest.com.au there was a powerboat Vs Parmeila incident in Fremantle Harbour yesterday, with two x 70 year old gents getting quite injured, and their boat not coming off too good either.
Anyone know the inside story? Ships don't generally travel too fast in the harbour and you can easily predict where they are going. Parmeila was the ship that the hit the Fremantle Railway bridge back in 2011 so I'm wondering if it is merely a coincidence.

Used outboard buyers in Perth?
Submitted by Quobbarockhopper on Fri, 2014-05-30 08:09Just an additional question to go with my one earlier today...
Does anyone know a few decent dealers who buy second hand motors in Perth? Am upgrading and looking at getting some cash for my current Merc Opti 115 2 stroke @ 525 hours to help soften the blow of a new one...
Ill be getting the usual performance and condition print outs done from the local Merc dealer in the next few days so will hopefully be able to sort something out
thanks again in advance

Perth Outboard Dealer recommendations- Yammy, Honda, Merc
Submitted by Quobbarockhopper on Fri, 2014-05-30 07:59Hi all
Am upgrading my current outboard and will be in Perth (I live in Carnarvon) for one day next week so will be doing a days worth of shopping around and am chasing some recommendations of the best guys to give my $ to.
Will be going to as many places as possible during the day to get advice, quotes etc and am still deciding between the usual 3 4 strokes- Yamaha, Honda and Mercury, in 150hp, so if you could name some good dealers for all of them, preferably north of the river, it would be much appreciated.
My current 2005 Merc Optimax 115 2 stroke still has a fair bit of life left in her at 525 hours, so anyone who does trade ins would also be good to know.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Low Life Scum
Submitted by tombstone on Thu, 2014-05-29 12:21Just got told by sister in law that some low life scum has walked into their garage and taken brother in-laws fishing gear, tackle bag, rods reels etc, and gone through their car too. She was in and out of the garage all morning and the scum waited till she put the babies down for a nap and went in. Sick of these low lifes taking advantage of hard working people cause they can't be arsed getting off the drugs and finding work, and stealing gear that people have worked hard to get. Think it is time the police start targeting these low life scum instead of...well lets say bikies.
There is obviously a market out there for fishing gear, recent tackle shop raping goes to prove this too. So if anyone sees some cheap fishing gear for sale let me know, we are talking Sustains, older Mitchell reels, abu Sorons stx, beach rods, LOX rods, daiwa reels. Can't give you specifics of them all but i know for sure he had a 10000 sustain and lox iridium rod, cause i bought them for his birthday. Luckily they didn't try to get into the house, cause i think the sister in law would have been scared to death. Let's just hope the cops can find out who these crack heads are. rant over.

Boat loan interest rates
Submitted by t bone on Thu, 2014-05-29 11:28Gday all.
I understand that there are a lot of people that don't like the idea of discussing these kinds of things, but for those select few that dont mind.
When fighting the loan mobs against each other for the best interest rates. What did you manage to get who down to? And what sort of terms did you encounter in the process?
Feel free to PM me if need be :)
Thanks in advance...

Replacement car keys
Submitted by Big Frank on Sun, 2014-05-25 18:40I have lost the keys to my Jackaroo and don't have a replacement set.
i don't want to take it to a Holden dealership as apparently they will want to re - key the car and repair the broken alarm system and keyless entry for about $1k. - given the car is worth about $4k, I don't want to spend that sort of coin.
Does anyone know if there are locksmiths who can replace car keys - found a couple on the internet but they are over East.
Any help appreciated.

Soft Pinks for Carnarfin
Submitted by carnarvonite on Sun, 2014-05-25 08:58For those fishing the Carnarfin fishing comp, there have been a heap of pink snapper coming in on the wetliners that have soft flesh due to them starting their annual spawning season. It pays to give them a bit of a squeeze up on the shoulders or down towards the tail and if it feels spongy drop it back over the side because when you go to fillet it the flesh will be all mushy and useless for anything but fertiliser for your passionfruit vine.
The good news is that there are heaps of them out at all the recognised spots, Koks Island, Lady Joyce wreck, the 8 mile, the Muck Hole and up towards the Blowholes.
DoT will be out and about checking all the boats
For those who like to head out from the Blowholes or fish up towards Cape Cuvier, use channel 81 on VHF to log in/off. The repeater is situated on Rio Tinto's aerial on Cuvier and gives coverage as far north as Gnaraloo Bay and also down in close on the west side of Dorre and Bernier Islands.
Sea rescue log ons will start at 0600 and station close at 1800. We monitor channels 16, 73 and 81 on VHF, channel 88 on 27 meg and 4125 on HF
For those leaving early you can SMS you details through on 0455 851 318, giving your boat name, DoT rego number , persons on board, destination and estimated time of return. We will be asking for DoT rego numbers because there usually is a few boats with the same names and its easier to trace information using the rego numbers if things go pearshaped. We will be doing registrations at the Gassy hotel during the sign on this evening.

Anyone driving back to Perth through Carnarvon?
Submitted by slothwan on Sat, 2014-05-24 18:31
Hi guys and girls,
Yes, it's me again, the grotty yachty asking for a favour.
The sail up the coast is going well after the initial teething problems. We've arrived in Carnarvon and a bit of family business has popped up that requires my attention back home in Perth.
If anyone has a spare seat in there car heading south, I'd be thankful to fill it. I'm happy to chip in for fuel and take the share of driving. I have a MR licence if you are driving a slightly bigger rig. I'm looking to get back tomorrow or Monday if possible.
Then I need to get back up to my boat later in the week, so if you're heading up north next Thursday, Friday or Saturday, same again, happy to chip in for a seat.
Cheers Adam
