Another Caribbean Reef Runner build

Hi

I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to order my self a new Caribbean Reef Runner.

I looked at second hand boats for months then eventually bit the bullet. Anyway I know this has been done a bit but I found it useful for research, motivation and ideas to search the web for other builds. So here’s another.

I order a hull off Mansfield Marine.

Trailer off Tezzas Trailers in Port Kennedy (awesome)

and Outboard and electrical work from Midway Marine in Rockingham ( Legends)

I mounted all electronics and installed the Anchor winch and bilge pump.

Also clears and infill cushions from Canning Motor Trimmers. Thanks Shaun

Anyway , thanks for looking pics will tell the story

Trailer re-build and re-license

Gday all,

A couple of months back I got a bit of a shock when I took my boat and trailer over the weigh bridge. Totally empty it came in at 1T...

The boat is a 1982 Quintrex centre console, and the trailer a single axle, unbraked 1979 Roadmaster..

On our trips up north the boat would have at least another 300kg of gear in it, so I had to do something!

Over the years the trailer has had a number of upgrades and re-builds from getting broken numerous times on the Ningaloo track, so I had already strengthened it and added a few of the things listed below but I wanted to get it re-licensed at 1.5T to be legal. The following was added to allow this and improve the off-road towing:

Al-Ko 50mm ball off-road hitch

1.5T double eye springs with new Hilux shock absorbers

Landcruiser mechanical disc hubs

235/75R15 LT tyres

Drop-down spare

Side clearance lights / reflectors etc

I would suggest if anyone has a similar sized boat on a single axle unbraked trailer to take it over a weigh bridge...

Trailer Re-Galv

Morning team,

I have stripped the trailer now it’s time to get it re-galvanised. Has anyone done it recently enough to know what a good rate is?

Also, is there anything you can do to the insides of the RHS to clear away any old slag that may have made its way into the sections?

Insurance claim

I was hoping to get in touch with sunshine for some boat insurance claim advice.

Ive sent a pm to him but I don’t know if he’s still on this site or not?

many thanks

Holiday for Nic Nat

Think Nic Nat is going to have a holiday for his big dummy spit from getting his hair pulled.

The precedent has been set for throwing someone into the fence so it will be interesting to see if it is followed or is he one of the untouchables

WEEK 1 finals

Lets see which team steps up to the tempo of finals

Eagles should account for Essendon after having a couple of weeks off.

Cats and Collingwood should be close with Cats taking the chocky's.

Bulldogs on form over GWS

Richmond over Brisbane even though they would have forgotten how to travel.

Good luck to all

Footy trade action

Could be a big cull at the mighty Hawks i reckon,

Here are a few names i reckon might be elsewhere in 20

Gunston ( currency and lewis and Obrien are our fwds now )

Bruest ( hope not! but he's got currency )

Burgoyne ( hopefully goes again at Hawks )

Smith ( had a good season but again has currency )

Rough - Grazing along side Makybe Diva and Winx

Puopolo ( still seems to do his job IMO, might not hit the scoreboard but sets up a lot and provides the pressure in fwd half )

Greenwood, Mason Wood, Brad Hill are a few that could be sought after now Coniglio has re-signed....

Fox hunting in 2019

A mate of my brothers in the UK uses this pretty average set up which includes night vision with video recording capabilities"...........stunning bit of fire power

Snapped bolts - how do I un fk it?

Trailer Birthday time...

In past topics, I have bagged out my Pappas trailer due to the amount of rust on it even after a severe wash down each time and it has kicked off.

All was going to plan with the boat coming off easily and all bolt on bits coming off relatively easily but when it came to the brakes, what a pain in the arse....

Both bolts holding the brakes onto the axle have snapped on one side and on the other, the top bolt came out easy but I can't budge the bottom. The two that snapped had less torque on them than I had on the wheel nuts..

So brains trust, how do I fix this? Kinda thinking it will be a cut the bit off and weld a new bit on?

The brakes were beyond rooted hence the removal.

Oh the joys of having to do it yourself...

Last round of of footy this weekend

Come on pies time to go.welcome back early Stevo the haters are going to hate you anyway. Looks easy to tip this round, but will it play out that way.

Testra show me the money mobile

Just got bill ,Bastard's putting my bill up from $35 basic plan to $40 bucks min per mth. So rang westnet got plan for $15 mth with 1GB download and $550 worth of calls ,just a bit cheaper.

Round 23 - Tipping Comp Payout

Final round to a very challenging year for the tipping, hope you all had fun having a crack!

Top six all within a chance of a payout coming into this round which looks straight forward compared to last week but i'm sure will throw a few curve balls, the margin will decide the outcomes if required.

We had 16 paid punters this year giving the bucket $800, splitting in slightly different to last year hope theirs no objections.

1st - $450
2nd - $250
3rd - $100

Last years winner - Hawk boy 144, 2nd Langdon19 142, 3rd Winner 142

Ill try add similar to the ESPN site for those that don't visit the page that often, I'll PM the winners to sort cash transfer or pick up.

Go FREO!!

And the CEO Steve Rosich too

Bloody Bat Flattery

Like plenty of others, we headed down to Woodies today for a fish. Launched the boat like usual and left my 5yo daughter to do her job which is lower and start the motor. Went and parked the car and got back to the boat with my wife doing the thumbs down. Oh dear...

Pulled the battery out and it showed as charged but the motor just wasn't cranking. People beside us offered a jump starter and that got the motor cranking for 10 or so seconds but not firing...damn.

Headed up to the shop to see if that had a jump starter I could borrow but not to be so went and got my car battery. Back to the boat with the battery and notice the bloke who launched after us is also unable to start his due to flat battery. Guy beside him offered a spare battery to jump off. No go.

Hooked up jumper leads to my car battery and go at nothing at all....bloke ahead borrowed my battery and got some half cranks out of his. Shit. Old mate on the other side can't get his motor running now.

Time to pull the pin so I lug the battery back to the car. Bloke walks past me and says there is someone else on the other jetties that has a flat...that's 4 in 30 minutes...

Mate rocks up and I tee up him to come alongside and try to jump me. Chatting to a new guy beside me, he offers up his jump starter. Connect it up and she just burst into life!

Thanks to those who offered assistance!

Didnt catch a thing, eagles lost but still a nice day out on the water making memories with the family and friends.

disposal of boat stuff

gotta get rid of old flares , epirbs and fire extinguishers from when we bought the boat, all were expired then and now moving house gotta get rid of them. where is the best place to get rid of them correctly

Alternator/Fuse/Charging issues with Hilux

 Crew,

Hit some water yesterday that has caused me some grief....

Turned the Hilux off couple of minutes after going through the water and it was like I had a flat battery, Car started but laboured...

Hour later, nothing at the key...

Jump started and limped home with wiper, lights etc all barely working....

Fuseable link seems fine,

Only getting 12.2v when running at the battery which obviously tells me alternator isn't working how it should but unless they are piss weak i wouldn't have thought hitting a puddle would be enough to cook the alternator?

Anyone had this before or got any ideas,

Cheers in advance....

Sailor lost off Freo

Just seen on the news a sailor lost overboard a yacht off Freo. Sea rescue and others out looking for them in these conditions. Hope they all get back safe. Last place I'd want to be right now.

New Marina

This new ddevelopment takes up a bit of coast and here we are in Safety Bay asking for a boat ramp to be relocated and told government departments will not allow it due to environmental reasons. Ocean Reef and now Cockburn Sound Outer Harbour. How inconsistant can you get?

Maybe some councils just work harder for their community.

Round 22

Huge game for West Coast. Win and we could finish top but lose and we could finish 4th. Looking forward to seeing the bulls go head to head but I reckon Hutch will take Dusty when he goes forward.

Danger game for the Pies, Adelaide were good last week and that Fogarty looks like a future star.

Be interesting to see Roughie's VFL form as they're giving him a farewell game when they're still in the finals hunt. Arrogance against Gold Coast or are they waving the white flag?

The biggest dissapointment this weekend is that Essendon couldn't somehow bring Scarlett into the game under the name Ring Inn.

Clever ideas from NZ

I’m over in NZ for a few days visiting, and each time I come over here I manage to spot something (without trying) that tells there are some clever people still here.

Have a look at the picture, think about how many posts go up here about the rules.

Some with no answer, some stupid, some contentious etc

I would contend that if Fisheries cannot answer the question in a short text then either

1/ the rules are too complicated

2/ Fisheries don’t know

3/ Fisheries are unwilling to provide a binding answer, and hence should not be able to later decide otherwise in retrospect.

You should be able to text location, fish and get a binding answer in a timely fashion.

If Fisheries are unable to provide a response in say 8hrs? then obviously you should be able to hold that up later as a Defense or mitigation.

Round 21

Better late than never

Moving on

well our days in sunny WA are numbered. Just parked up at bromus dam for a day or so, get a feed of yabbies. Get a nice westerly blowing us across the Nullabour. The Goldfields have been awesome, saw heaps, went and helped out for a couple of days at Ora Banda pub. Such a shame. Going to take a slow trip home, pick up the pooch, been strange not having him around. Was going to do the Murray over summer, but we’ll now be looking after the King Ash Bay caravan park while the owners take a break for about 10 weeks, Barra city, here we come.

Pies in strife?

News coming out of Victoria supposedly up to 10 Collingwood players implicated in a betting scandal. Hang onto your hats

Electric vehicles

Hi all
Anyone on here have or has an interest in any EV's. Don't think for us remote Fisho's anything will ever surpass a ICE 4x4 but I have been eyeing off a Tesla Model 3 but not sure yet about committing.
Any one else thinking around these lines.

Pimped up

What u guys think of this?

The Ashes

Watching last night and looking at the scores this morning thinking... if only we had a left hander that can throw them down at 150 clicks. Oh wait, we do, he is carrying the water at the drinks break. Suprised we also dropped arguably our best batsmen from last summer and played 3 keepers.

Tezza's Trailers

So, have been thinking lately of either rebuilding my current trailer or replacing with a new one. Current trailer is a Brooker Supper Roller rated to a combined weight of 1.9t. Boat is a 6m Seafarer Victory & 200hp. To help make the decision I filled the fuel tank up and had all my general/safety gear onboard & took it over a weigh bridge. Was very surprised to see it come in at 2.25t which is well above the rating of current trailer. We do trips North with the boat and I also want a buffer for all the kids crap that we somehow seem to take away with us!! It’s an easy decision now to replace the trailer, one with greater capacity as well as hydraulic/electric breaking. Tezza’s Trailers do a trailer rated to 2.8t which I’m leaning towards. Has anyone had any experience with Tezza’s Trailers good or bad? Cheers, Jason

Round 20 already

My team’s going to get a flogging, I think we’re officially tanking, no idea who else is doing what.
